People actually believed after the Chechen Wars Russia had finally learned their lesson given their later performance in Georgia and Crimea and could at least take over smaller countries.
I recognize however I wasn't expecting Ukraine to fight them back so well, everyone focused too much on Russia and too little in post-2014 Ukraine, but I supposed that's only natural, aside from a few specific nations and your own, most people really don't know much about other countries.

It's a low range, inaccurate, slow as frick vehicle that also happens to be slow to reload and explodes in a gigantic fireball if anyone looks at it the wrong way. The only reason it exists is because Russians can't into air power and the Russian killchain is like literally ten times longer than the western ones.
