I live in a VERY anti-gun shithole in Europe but, recently, reading the legislation I realized that black powder guns are considered obsolete and pretty much unregulated. The problem is that they cost an arm and leg and piece of my liver.

Anybody who ever had any luck building cap and ball muskets in their garage? I'm looking for some blueprints if possible.

If you're asking here, that's a pretty good indicator that it's beyond your ability.

I'm not the one that will be making it lol. My friend is a machinist with 40 years of experience I just want to bring him the blueprints and the materials and ask him to build it for me over the weekend.

        >just want to bring him the blueprints
good luck finding complete prints for a BP, he will need fully dimensioned drawings not just patent drawings that are easy to find. You can find full TDPs for modern firearms but I have never seen usable prints for BP. If he is mechanically inclined he can fill in the gaps from a print like

        https://i.imgur.com/Cy4iyYm.png

Black powder is just a type of propellant. How do they distinguish bp guns from regular ones? Or is the primer required to be seperate from the powder? A revolver is the obvious choice in the latter case. I found this colt walker schematic online, a bit more than a weekend project.

but it is still not much to go off.
        >build it for me over the weekend
machining a project like that is not quick, building all the parts from bar stock will take a month of weekends easy for any remotely complicated gun. Are you looking at a matchlock smoothbore or something more complex like a cap/ball revolver? Can you obtain percussion caps/BP easily? you should consider a revolver if you are truly serious because making that deep hole in a rifle barrel will need a gundrill that likely costs the same as just eating the import taxes on a commercially available. Not to mention all the raw material for a gun will not be cheap if you want to have it made out of the right shit, easily $500+ here in US but not sure if raw material is cheap there

I want to make a rifle. As for the barrel I've had plenty of luck using some hydraulic pipe tubing I got in the scrapyard. For the rifling I can make a button out of tool steel there's a dude on yt that shows how to make it just search "The Idahoan show rifling". All I'm really missing are the diagrams for the lock. I do own a small lathe and a few other tools and I've been able to make some break barrel shotguns by copying parts (my current project is making brass drawing dies for 32-20 brass and the reloading die set since I got a 32-20 rifle but the ammo is impossible to find). I already made the bullet mould. Ofc, making an entire gun is way out of my current skills that's why I will ask a professional to do it then maybe I can try to copy the parts he made on my own.

if I fails I'll just try making the brass on the lathe kek.
Oh, and to answer your question about primers I have a few of them and I'm experimenting on the using armstrog mix and coke can strip method. It ignites pretty easily if you hit it with a hammer.

homie it's literally just a tube with a big hole in one end and a small one in the other.
If you're too moronic to come up with something on your own, you should really not do anything.

chamber pressures are relatively low for a musket, no? Shouldn't be too hard to invent something, especially with 3d printers nowadays. Skip the whole flint lock bullshit and use an electrical ignition mechanism, that's what the guy in japan did. If you have access to a mill or lathe it becomes 10x easier

In Poland you can get nice revolvers, like this Pietta Remington New Texas Sheriff .44 5,5", for ~$444.
    No licenses needed, too.

It will never be free as you'll have to buy various tools and materials to make one. Hell, buying a ready made one will be like 10x less expensive than building one yourself.

It's very easy to make a caplock. just get some moderately thick seamless tubing, weld or screw a cap on one end, drill a hole for a nipple, then figure out how you want to hit it. I'm partial to under hammers. I use to have folders of designs for homemade firearms, but they must be on a old computer, i just make semi autos out of parts kits and airsoft these days.

You can find cap and ball for next to nothing on Naturabuy, I think they can deliver all over Europe. Rather than a cap and ball you can get a pinfire revolver, less of a pain in the ass than cap and ball. Veldogs cost next to nothing but they're pretty shit, so if you can afford it aim for something a little better. Ammo is less expensive than in the US too for pinfire shit.
