I know this is only tangentially firearms related at best but I figured a few of you might be experienced with these things and since there are (to my knowledge) stunners that use cartridges, like nailguns, it's not 100% off topic.
My question is, when the bolt on one of these things is completely extended, how far does it go. I tried to find some information but didn't come up with anything substantial.

Anon please, it's barely summer here

Says a guy with no answer.
2 - 2.5 inches give or take.
Probably depends on the model and manufacturer tbh. Maybe give them a call instead of asking about it on Phrygian lite brite forum
>Most commercial fed slaughter facilities use a standard captive bolt length of 15.2cm for Jarvis pneumatic stunners. In these stunners, only 9.02cm of the bolt actually penetrates into the animal's skull. Longer captive bolts are commercially available and some processing companies have started using them in the belief that the longer bolts may cause more brain damage and increase the effectiveness of the stun.
Meat science.

So did guy in pic related survived getting stunned?
Thank you anons for the responses
What are your plans with it?
It will probably paralize you and leave you bad handicapted the rest of your life. They can go about 12 cm which is barely enough to penetrate much of the brain.
This, don't try to have a nice day with that OP.
There is much on the jarvis ytc including opperation
If you try to have a nice day with those, don’t.
LEO here who responded to an attempted suicide by a troony who used two of them, one on the back of his head and one on the front.
He ended up shitting himself and surviving but absolutely braindead.
They don’t kill you, they lobotomize you.
> but absolutely braindead.
Are you sure he wasn't brain dead already?
The stunner doesn't hit the part of the brain that make your heart or lungs stop, just turns you into a potato, the gouger finishes the work by bleeding.
But maybe that troony was stupid. If he goes in the spot right where the skull and spine meet on the back of the head and points it in the right angle, it should completely obliterate the brainstem if it indeed goes in 10cm or so
What about the heart? Or shoving it into the mouth?
Not a doctor or something but cattle brains are smaller so it makes more damage to them. Not sure what happens to humans
Couple inches.
