It's a thick spine stabbing knife with a half assed saw on the back. Its' a military knife. It sucks for a bushcraft knife and carrying it will make you look like a weirdo. Just get a mora if you're that poor. I bought a Glock knife one day on a whim. I use it as a second garden trowel now.
Its a passable choice. That sait its not an optimal one and isnt ther right shape for what you most likly want to do with it.
>bushcraft knife
chopping wood with a fucking knife is not a legitimate just because you wasted all your money on a ~~*benchmade*~~ and cant afford a 3 dollar gas canister
I have a few of the unlicensed Czech copies. I would call them decently capable and if the actual Glock knife is the same or better then it's a good value. I've also heard others say that the Milwaukee knives are decent for the price if you just want a sharp piece of steel you don't have to care about.
100% agree. I live in the woods and use my knife almost every day. I'm picky about what I want in a knife with regards to blade length, width, profile, grind, steel qualities, grip, etc. Basically there's a Goldilocks zone for knives for me. I have the Terävä Jääkäripuukko 140 and it's a Goldilocks knife. It's an extremely good value. I even bought a second one for a buddy of mine. And both the leather and Boltron sheaths are high quality and perfect fits - the leather one especially is extremely well made for the price. For a general field knife that doesn't cost as much as a Mossberg shotgun you really can't beat it.
The nearly identical Finnish issue M95 knife is equally excellent, but a little more expensive and slightly longer than the Terävä Jääkäripuukko 140. Either are great field knives.
It is one of the knives of all time
It will cut things and retain its edge better than some knives and worse than others
It is also shorter than some knives but longer than others

>It will retain its edge worse than most*
Certainly true, but it is also true that it does outclass $3 gas station knives.
I really do need a better knife
mora or puukko from varusteleka. Knives are 99.9% camp work, don't get a quasi combat ass knife because 'oh soldiers use it', soldiers get bottom bidder shit that only BARELY works, get a knife that's not only cheaper, but better because it wasn't made by retards.
If it's a utility tool it doesn't really matter, any standard fixed blade with a single edge and water resistant handle will do. Most people carry a pocket saw now given how light these are.
The combat knife is dead, reliable side arms killed the combat knife. Bayonettes aren't for nepolianic larp, mostly they're to help soldiers coralle people without being disarmed.
A long blade is if anything a hindrance to general use, and unless you've got a blade with serious weight the arc length doesn't matter either.
Also edge retention is a meme.
Softer steel sharpens more easily but requires regular sharpening with work, if your knife isn't seeing regular work maybe a harder edge.
in the modern era you want a tough knife that is a reliable tool and about 5" is fine. increased size beyond that is really just increased LARP as you will never use it in some kind of knife duel or to build a hut in the woods to live in forever. if you are one of the very few people to be wrestling some guy indoors with a knife it won't really matter if it was 9"+ or 5", and if anything the smaller knife will be easier to use at that range, so you might as well go with 5".
It's an option

How long should a knife be?
Different knives for different purposes, so it depends on your use. I personally find shorter knives to be more useful, but again depends on your use.
It depends, I have knives from 1.5 inches up to 11 inches for various purposes.
For EDC use, 2-4"
For general use fixed blade, 4" drop point.
For fighting knife, 6" dagger shape.
3.5 to 5.5 inches for actual use. Long dagger if you want to kill someone.
just get a puukko knife from varusteleka

Vote for mora. Either variant of the companion is an awesome knife, especially for the money. I really love the eldris, so much that I have two now.
>not posting in the knife general
You must lurk a minimum of 1 year before posting.
No, they are fucking trash.
All bayonets suck ass for anything else, soft steel, bad grind angle, fragile for anything.
Get an esee 4, 5, or 6, or a BK 2, 7, 9 and shut the fuck up.

FTFY.
Considering it has the lowest hardness of any non-gas station $3 knife.

Is there any point to the saw back?
I heard it's to cut through tree roots. I don't know if I fully buy that but it's plausible.
Meme.
No saw back on a knife has ever be useful
I like mine, but admittedly it just bought it because of the tortue test video on YT. I got a sawback too.

Best? No.
But they are pretty decent, you ought to own at least one for how cheap they are.

I know it's basic and doesn't really scratch that G.I. larp itch like a good old combat knife, but I'll have to throw in my vote for a mora.

How about bps knives? People seem to like them and your money goes to killing vatniks if you buy one.
