I fucked up and accidentally pushed a roll pin inside my hand last night.

I fricked up and accidentally pushed a roll pin inside my hand last night. I was trying to change add an extened charging handle to my AR. I was using that tiny screw driver on my Leatherman, and sorta was holding it like a clamp between both hands. Well I underestimated the amount of force needed, and stabbed myself pretty good. The screew driver came was stuck in my skin, and I can't reach the pin with tweezers to get it out, as a matter of fact I can't even feel it it's so deep inside my hand. What do?

Okay wait, so do you think the pin went down straight in, or at an angle? If it went down, and you are sure it did so and didn't just clank down on some soft surface nearby, I'd say:
    1) get sone stronger alcohol or medical spirit if you have it, splash a good deal of it on the wound
    2) get a pair of tweezers and a lighter. Burn the tip of the tweezers, then also splash them in the spirit from before
    3) dig into the wound and attempt to grab onto the sides of the rolling pin. It really can't be that far down, so I'd say try scraping around the surface and attempt to find the edge, grab on to it, pull it out
    4) reapply the spirits and bind the wound

Or you know, go to the ER room, but I guess you are a burger and you'll get ripped off.

The average American actually has health insurance and this would be a $25 doctor visit for any functioning human being. PrepHole however, is full of fat moron Black folk that spend all their money on cheese doodlez and reddit gold.

        Anonymous

When the Science Asylum guy explained us healthcare I was in shock. In theory US private health care should be cheaper and more efficient than Europoor, in reality, you guys are getting fricked in the ass and ripped off on every single step. Overpriced hospital bills, medicine prices straight from the ass, its fricked up.

          Anonymous

On paper it blows, but in reality you pay $100-$200 a month for insurance and you never even see your overpriced hospital bill, and your $200 a month medication, even if insurance won't cover it, is $10 a month after a manufacturer coupon.
People who can't afford health insurance don't deserve health care. Simple as.

            Anonymous

Ok what about a case he described, where he had to pay huge hospital bill despite having health insurance, but thanks to the fact that he had "premium" HI (he paid more), his insurance company magically "negotiated" his bill with the hospital and the quote dropped to acceptable level. Looks like froad to me. Another guy in different video explained how all the prices for procedures hospitals do are taken from thin air, do not represent real costs at all, just drain suckers as much as you can.
Im not saying healthcare here is good, but the gov really tries to for force real prices on farmacutical companies, and promotes cheaper drugs instead of overpriced ones. You can actually sue a doctor or pharmacy if they push more expensive drug when there is a cheaper alternative from different company.

              Anonymous

              >all the prices for procedures hospitals do are taken from thin air, do not represent real costs at all, just drain suckers as much as you can
Sounds about right. I went to the ER for chest pains. It took them several hours to do some blood tests and take an x-ray, only for them to conclude that it was probably stress-related [due to my shitty awful low-paying job that I was fired from a few days later anyway]. They gave me a bill for $600 something, which I guessed was reasonable and I was out the door. Then I get additional letters and phonecalls saying they decided that I actually owed almost $2000 for the 'treatment' and that they'd 'generously' lower the price if I paid the remaining balance by a certain time. Then months later I got another fricking bill, this time specifically for the doctor's fee. The doctor that didn't do shit but give me a prescription for painkillers.
No wonder they say healthcare in America sucks if that's the experience people have.

            Anonymous

Until you need medicine / procedures insurance for some israeli reason won't cover and you either end up in debt or lose all your life savings and retirement money. Don't get your brain twisted, it could happen to you. The poorgays hey free care courtesy of the government, the richgays don't have to worry about it, and the middle and working class gets fricked hard. The US healthcare system only benefits a certain ~~*group*~~. Unironically universal care would be better for everyone. Inb4 I don't wanna pay for Black folk - you already do

          >In theory US private health care should be cheaper and more efficient than Europoor

I work for one of the largest medical suppliers in the country and what morons (in the US) don't get is that private doesn't mean fair.
One of the major strengths of a single payer system is that you get a single price because private suppliers like the one I work for cannot negotiate with them in bad faith without being caught in the act.
Here, if you go to two different hospitals with the same quality of care and the same suppliers for everything you will pay two different prices. This is because companies like mine work overtime to israelite new clients into paying high prices and since nobody is openly posting how much they paid for X and how much they charge for Y it is impossible for that hospital to figure out if they're getting israeliteed or not. Big companies like mine discourage shopping around for better prices by saying "Well if you don't buy X from us then we'll stop supplying Z as well, and we're the only supplier of Z that can supply the amounts you need lol :^)"

What state are you in? There's a chance there could be a charity hospital.
In any case, the hospital having to operate on an infected rotting hand is going to be more expensive and more likely to damage you long term than just treating it early.

This, that'd be one way to tell.

When I was in middle school I was walking between classes with a newly sharpened pencil. Another student bumped into me and the pencil went into the plam of my hand. It broke off in there and stayed there for weeks. The wound grew a cap of hardened skin and eventually the lead started to push its way out. I could see it under the skin and scratvhed at the wound until there was a bit of lead sticking out. I then used it to write and draw things using my palm for a few days until it loosened up. I'll never forget the *schloop* noise it made when I finally got a good grip on it and pulled it out.

If what he said was true and he was continuing to bleed after getting checked in it was probably more serious then he is letting on, and frankly with the generic “fuk American healthcare” comment, i wouldn’t be shocked if it hit something major or the bone and he was hiding that

Can you not buy lidocaine and a syringe in america? Why does every home surgery suggestion here involve 'just take a swig of whisky lol'?

Lidocaine is prescription only for some reason.

That’s exactly why, that and it’s a painkiller in certain mixtures, we use it in vet med in CRIs with small mammals like rabbits to help with pain in cases of hypomotility or bloat. So yeah morons will inject it

It's actually used as an IV infusion in surgical anaesthesia too, but you'd need monitoring in case it fricks with the heart rhythm

Oh neat ok that makes sense, don’t actually use it for that in vet med, or at least I haven’t seen it recently, we usually use ketamine, torb, dexdomitor, etc. and gas

I think there are topical pain creams that have lidocaine and are otc, but yeah, anything injectable (not just local anesthetics) will be scrip only in the US.

    2nd update

Went out and got a magnet like some anons were suggesting. Yup, it's in there. I feel a tug when I bring the magnet close. Bad news? It's in at an angle and I don't think will come out the hole it came in. Will probably just leave it there till body naturally forces it out, or just loose my hand like other anons were saying. Frick it I'm a right handed anyway.
Hole looks like it's healing, doesn't look infected yet, will continue to monitor. Don't remember when I last got my tetanus, so I'll get it today just to be safe. I won't try digging it out since I don't want to make things somehow worst. I'll just enjoy being part gun for a while. Do I have to worry about the ATF confiscating me now? Careful when taking out roll pins guns, I don't want any of you hurting yourselfves.

Don't do this man, you really don't want to lose your hand.
Go to a vet and explain your situation.

A vet isn't going to do anything but tell him to go to a human doctor. Vets aren't licensed to treat human patients. It could mean his job, fines, and even jail time.

Go to urgent care, if you can afford guns, you can afford to have foreign objects removed from you.

Also, your body will likely not 'force it out' or 'absorb it'. I've had a similar-sized piece of metal in my hand for close to 15 years now, and it's still visible.

      Anonymous

the pin will just forever be a novelty if not removed, much like when an anon gets stabbed by a pencil and the tip breaks off.
unless your roller pin was around manure, or you work in a cow pasture, then you aren't going to get tetanus.
your hand is pretty fricking fragile, so you got lucky if you still have 100% range of motion with no pain in spite of throwing a piece of metal in there.
the easiest time to dig it out would have been immediately and having some moron dig it out for you now will likely cause more harm than good at this point.
also you would be laughed out of the ER if you came in over this, it isn't an emergency by any stretch, and an urgent care clinic will probably just frick up your hand further, so just live with it now, it's essentially cosmetic.

        >lucky if you still have 100% range of motion with bo pain in spite of throwing a piece of metal in there.

Weird, I took a knife straight through the center of my palm, and had no long-term damage. Just wrapped it in bandages for a couple weeks.

And I mean like, in one side and out the other.

Upper part of your palm has far less vital structures than the lower half, easy to hit a nerve or sever a tendon otherwise.

If you leave it in it will probably get infected, which will cost more money and take longer to heal. When dealing with medical stuff the longer you wait the worse it gets

Could even form an abscess which could need a surgery to drain, and then you’ll have a big hole in your hand for a while

Try to reach it using a thin steel rod with a magnet on its external end. Steel can "conduct" magnetism, hence you should be able to effectively use it as a magnet to get the pin.

Go to the ET and get a tetanus booster and have someone remove it and administer prophylactic antibiotics. There is a risk of tetanus, of the foreign body infecting you (it for example carries bacteria from the surface if the hand into the skin), and of it causing your body to form an obnoxious fibrous or pussy or whatever flavor capsule around it.

The problem with avoiding medical attention for an issue, is that the problem typically just gets worse, and you're forced to go to the hospital anyway, but now the issue is significantly worse, and you end up owing more money. Not going to the hospital is classic poverty stupidity, that keeps poor people poor. Realize you're going to take a hit either way, so get it over with now while the problem is minor.

    >seen by doctor in infirmary
    After that
    >claim to be a blm alumni
    >all charges drop
    >???
    >profit

If they can make tax payers pay for troony procedures on inmates, they can sew your hand up.

Knower here, stuff in your hand is bad news. If it gets infected and fricks up surrounding tissue you could lose mobility in your hand to various degrees, to straight up losing your hand or going septic. There's a whole specialty of people just for your hand, it's a big deal. Go to the ED, and, perhaps, get your name wrong when they ask 😉

Don't be moronic and leave it in anon
While it is true that you can probably live with it the extra complications in the inevitable situation where you do some level of damage to your hand again
any 1/2 competent surgeon can get the pin out without undue damage - they will give you a shot of local anesthetic make an incision to remove the pin, stitch you up and tell you to be less moronic next time
