Now he will jump into a time machine and bomb digital networked sam systems from the 2000s and 2010s. And he will do it while dodging russian AWACS and high altitude, high speed interceptors armed with fire and forget missiles. His reaction will be just like that of those zogbot "veterans" who went to ukraine in the beginning of the war and then quickly returned, after getting a taste of artillery fire and tactical jet bombing runs. I didn't say when, I just said that it makes the most sense of retired American pilots were the ones zooming around in them. It'd provide the DoD with a level of surety that they won't be used in ways that they don't want (i.e. another ATACMS scenario), and also be flown by pilots who probably spent years dodging goat frickers firing Soviet era MANPADS at them.

F-16 are used in SEAD, right? Feels like delivery with competent pilots would be just in time for a counter-offensive in a few months. Or at the least, they want some more pilots with HARM experience.

Anon, American mission planning is hell of a lot more deniable than American pilots.
No idea whether they'll get effective AWACS since I haven't a wet fart's clue on the range of AWACS and such but it's hard to imagine the Airforce increasing risk of pilot capture by not providing support. Then again given the fatfrick in charge of the Pentagon it wouldn't surprise me.

          Anonymous

I don't think AWACS will matter, or be present for that matter. Any high flying target is liable to get BTFO by S-300 and the like in very short order, every high altitude mission will be extremely risky. And at low altitude, well it's the same story because of crap ton of manpads. There is no safe way to fly in Ukraine, it's why aviation use is so sparse, it's just not worth it. How much damage can a jet do before it inevitably gets destroyed? Not enough to justify losing it, that's for sure.

            Anonymous

There are things you can do with mission planning and proper intel. Russia apparently hasn't done a very good job of moving S-300 radars around, making them vulnerable to HARMs pre-programmed on the ground to go to GPS coordinates and look for S-300 radars. GPS/INS glide bombs (JDAM-ER) can be used with toss-bombing out to ~40km, as opposed to <10km for unguided rockets fired on ballistic arcs. F-16s wouldn't have anywhere near the operational freedom of F-35s, but there are still things that they could do.

The difference is that these pilots are actually separated from the US military, as opposed to the USSR sending in active pilots under fake Korean aliases while attempting to speak Korean (poorly) over the radio. The US isn't stupid enough to send in active military, because if they get found out it would be the biggest of eggs on the west's face. Just look at how American civilian volunteers get paraded around pro-Russian media if they get killed/captured, and despite what Z-tards claim there is still a large crop of separated/retired US military from every oblast who are willing to go fight Russians because they couldn't do shit while in the service.

      >the flying tigers
The First American Volunteer Group (AVG) of the Republic of China Air Force, nicknamed the Flying Tigers, was formed to help oppose the Japanese invasion of China. Operating in 1941–1942, it was composed of pilots from the United States Army Air Corps (USAAC), Navy (USN), and Marine Corps (USMC), and was commanded by Claire Lee Chennault. Their Curtis P-40B Warhawk aircraft, marked with Chinese colors, flew under American control. Recruited under President Franklin Roosevelt's authority before Pearl Harbor, their mission was to bomb Japan and defend the Republic of China, but many delays meant the AVG first flew in combat after the US and Japan declared war.

The group consisted of three fighter squadrons of around 30 aircraft each that trained in Burma before the American entry into World War II to defend the Republic of China against Japanese forces. The AVG were officially members of the Republic of China Air Force. The group had contracts with salaries ranging from $250 a month for a mechanic to $750 for a squadron commander, roughly three times what they had been making in the U.S. forces. While it accepted some civilian volunteers for its headquarters and ground crew, the AVG recruited most of its staff from the U.S. military.

...not do a whole lot because in order to have an air-to-air battle you need to meet the enemy in the air, the odds of that are extremely slim. And hunting them on Russia's turf is a suicide mission, hell even simply approaching the frontline is, they won't do that. They'll do the same thing Ukrainian pilots do: fire a lot of unguided missiles on a ballistic trajectory and scuttle away before the tail of multiple seeker missiles can catch up.

American Pilots and planes also fought for the Poles in the Polish-Soviet war very successfully

Seventeen American airmen took part in the Polish-Bolshevik war and volunteered to serve in the Polish army. The initiator of the action was Merian C. Cooper, who initially managed to recruit seven pilots and one observer, and gradually more joined them. They all served in the 7th air squadron, named Kościuszkowska.

      >absolutely nothing to do with us
Okay, I will try to answer this as briefly and simply as I can
      1. The USA prospers in a world of law and order
      2. Allowing belligerent nations to annexe their smaller neighbours threatens law and order
      3. Hence the USA must play "world policeman"; it is your own best interest
      4. Same for EU, OECD, Saudi Arabia and all the smaller third world countries who one way or another follow the USA's lead and participate in the economic environment it has created
      5. China and Russia threaten this de facto "Pax Americana" by threatening this foundation of law and order
      6. Assisting Ukraine and defeating Russia for pennies on the dollar is not only morally right and upholds the international rule of law, it defends the prosperity and quality of life of these nations and their citizens

The interests of people who control large amounts of economic resources and pay others for their labor are always going to be opposed to the interests of people who sell their labor. If the idea is to cut costs as much as possible so you can make as much money as possible, and you treat human labor like any other resource, then you're always going to do what's best for your pocketbook even if it means screwing over the people whose labor you're purchasing. Within our system, if you're an owner, then you are never ever going to be on the same team as people who aren't owners. Keep in mind that even with the stock market, 90% of stock value is controlled by just 10% of the population, and most of those people have signed away their voting rights to the people who manage their portfolio.

These studies are mostly bullshit. Public opinion polls are often light on details. People will say yes when asked “do you support policy A?” but if you follow up with “even if policy A will cost X dollars, raise taxes by Y and could cause Z?” support get more muted. It’s how libs are able to proclaim that a majority of Americans support gun control but whenever specifics are discussed the ratio drops.

I think there is a rationale for it. The Western world is defending a rules-based international order where you're not allowed to attack other countries. And yes, the US can do whatever it wants and it's hypocritical and so on and so forth but the US is kind of on the side of the civilized world and Russia isn't. So this is about showing Russia - and more importantly, China - that the price for this stuff is just too high to be worth it. But on an emotional level I completely agree with you. I have little more than contempt for Ukraine. It's a meme country and I find their pretentious sense of national pride to be ridiculous and revolting. Like a 70 year old prancing around in a bikini.

Russia isn't going to stop with Ukraine. If they conquer it, the Baltics are next, followed by Romania and Poland. All of those are NATO members, so at that point, the US either has to fight Russia directly, or plan on not having any allies or diplomatic influence in the world for a few generations. And fighting Russia directly risks nuclear war.

So, giving Ukraine lots of support, but nothing really beyond what Russia did in Korea and Vietnam, is probably the best way to avoid that situation. At the very least, if Russia is damaged badly enough that it thinks twice about invading NATO countries, that's worth the expenditures to date. And there's a fair chance that Russia loses the war outright, which *definitely* keeps them from being bold enough to attack NATO members, and opens the door to the possibility that Russia might actually collapse... which, while risky, opens up the possibility of paying them (or their successor government) for most of the rest of their remaining nukes. And getting rid of Russia's nukes without a war is worth a few hundred billion.

Your first point is moronic, the whole point of conquering Ukraine is to prevent them from joining NATO, just like Russia did in Georgia.

The baltics, romania and poland all are in NATO and thus it's instant WW3 if russia tries shit with them.

As for why NATO is supporting Ukraine is that war is a way to launder tax payer money into the hand of corporations. Not only will we need to restock on javelin missiles, but once the war is over, guess who's gonna need roads built? Guess who's gonna need houses built? Supermarkets, railroads and airports? Ukraine. And guess who's gonna build all that? european companies. It's like a gift for the european manufacturing sector. and on top of that we get one of the most fertile grounds in the world to grow food. Without firing a single shot AND without people accusing us of warmongering. And its even largely being paid for by the US.

I know you're young but literally the same thing happened in vietnam. Soviet pilots, soviet munitions, soviet planes and tanks all somehow mysteriously ended up in vietnam. Laos and cambodia being neutral but latently pro-soviet is the only difference, but the US faced the same difficulty with not being allowed (or allowing themselves) to target vast supply routes into vietnam despite knowing what was going on.

Ukraine's neighbours to the west are just NATO's ho chi minh trail.

God I wish we would just send the American air force there as "lend-leased aircraft" and "military advisors" and just bomb the shit out of Russia.

Then when Pidor & friends squeal about how we can't do that we just laugh in their faces since they did it in Korea and Vietnam.

It is, but Pussia doesn't want to be reasonable. They want to keep eastern Ukraine, they want to keep Crimea, they don't want to hand over Putin & friends for trial, and they don't want to demilitarize, hand over their nukes, or pay reparations.

They want to die instead, and we will oblige them.

He's just cycling through "America bad" talking points trying to derail the thread. Surprised he's not brought up BLM, fentanyl or Native Americans yet.

Are you fricking moronic? No, like the anon

the EU is something you apply to join and are free to leave. my country recently left following a referendum, for instance. there is no enslavement going on here, and comparing russia's attempt to annex ukraine to applying for EU membership is the most dishonest shit i've ever seen.

get a life and outsourcing your "revenge on the normies" to foreign superpowers

said, joining the EU is voluntary, and you can leave at any moment. Stop trying to compare it to a fricking military invasion.
