I dropped a textbook on top of my printer and now there’s a giant gap whenever I print something. I tried replacing the drum and the toner cartridge but that didn’t fix the problem. Does anyone know what else could be causing this? I’d rather try to fix it instead of having to spend $150 on a new printer. I’m pretty good at fixing electronics but I’ve never worked on a printer before.

    It’s an inkjet.
Just go down to the recyclers or dumpsters and pick up a few more—they’re free. And still not worth their cost.

You may have to make sure there is no foreign material inside the printer and around the drum unit and toner cartridge. You may have to clean the corona wire and the drum unit; the first page contains links that show you how to do that.
If all of that fails, and you already put in a new drum and toner cartridge, I guess the printer must be really broken.

As I stated in the OP, I already replaced those things. I know it’s broken. I’m asking how to fix it.

You've probably broken the thing that creates the static electricity on the drum. I forget what it's called, but that's how laser printers work.

    Just a guess.
Something broke loose inside the printer when impacted.
The broker piece is hanging down in the path of the laser or the corona wire.
Look inside for anything out of place.

Going off of this, take out all of the components and see if anything looks obviously amiss. I know on my brother printer, there's a cleaner thing that slides along the corona wire. Id do that and also look up the cleaning procedures for your printer.

Well I opened it up and sure enough something was broken. Not sure what this glass thing is but it looks easily replaceable. Now the question is where can I find one…

This PDF shows an exploded view/diagram of your printer.
Search through the pages until you find the part and the part number.
Search for the part number to find a source for the broken part.

To help you find the part, that should be called something similar to "laser scanning unit glass" or "LSU glass"

You might not be able to find just the glass, but good news is the entire laser unit can be replaced on those printers. You're going to need to find an exploded parts diagram for that series of printer to get the part number.

I'd guess the fault is between the laser and the drum or in the laser itself. The laser is what makes the powder stick to the drum.
