Constitutional carry is in Texas now, although the test was always ez af to pass.

Constitutional carry has some serious downsides. For example "no weapons" signs that don't site 30.06 are legally binding for constitutional carriers while they don't apply to licensed carriers at all. And of course you don't have to get a background check when buying weapons if you have a CHL.

At least in Texas constitutional carry is kind of a meme and you should still get a CHL.

            Anonymous

Another benefit of having a CHL is that you can carry in federally designated "Gun Free Zones" like schools and college campuses (although obviously this doesn't apply to federal buildings like the post office).

It's literally the police handgun proficiency test, we have that exact test in AZ that we do annually, bi-annually, or 4x a year depending on your department. Mine was 4x a year and 2 had to be accompanied by a 4 hour training session. Police are masters with their handguns, we win 98% of our shootings in the US and we're on the reactive end of OODA loop. That's fricking outstanding...

        Anonymous

        It's this same test, right?

So how many of you can actually hit a torso 12 times from 75 feet? The real meme is that casual gun owners can't actually hit shit. How many shootings do you guys get exceptional hits on vs how many the police get? I guarantee it's not even in the 50% range. You have no training.

Hello cop anon, I too believe I may well be a master or nearly a master with my handgun(I say this unironically, I can make 100 yard shots standing unsupported with both an RMR and iron sights, can even do it with a Sig Mosquito .22lr--I'm actually good with handguns).

I'm just curious, how many rounds of ammo do you have for the police handgun qualification??

          Anonymous

          >I can make 100 yard shots standing unsupported with both an RMR and iron sights
That isn't mastery or even near mastery. If we're just talking about slow fire at a torso silhouette target, then by the end of my level 2 handgun class (~32 hours of instruction) every student out of like 20 was able to hit the steel at 135 yards standing unsupported with irons. By the end of the level 3 class (~40 hours) even the worst shooters were able to hit it within 3 shots. You don't master anything in 40 hours.

The police being incompetent is mostly /k/ cope. Yes, there's incompetent cops, but as you point out the overwhelming proportion of gunfights the police win shows that's they're generally not incompetent (at least in areas where police getting into gunfights is likely)

          Anonymous

They "win" cause they are always wearing body armor. Short of a fatal shot to the head they are going to win every single time. It's not like criminals can just walk around openly sporting the latest in body armor without getting some serious police attention. Even the most low profile vest is going to stand out in a crowd.

            Anonymous

Look how rarely a police officer is even struck (in vest or otherwise) and how often they accidentally shoot by standers. When you consider they're always reacting to someone starting the gunfight, they have a quite impressive record.

Of course they're going to win a gunfight when you have 15+ cops called in on a guy with a gun or a shooting as is the usual operating procedure for PDs. I'd actually be intrigued to know what the numbers are for 1 on 1 shootouts.

Okay, and if they're able to regularly win without collateral damage, how does that make them incompetent?

Look at who they fight 99% of the time. It's nogs who don't believe in using sights. They are fighting people who want to get away, not people who want to fight. The second they face any real opposition they die or fall back and regroup until there are dozens of them. Remember that vid related is called a "win" by cops

            Anonymous

Pretty much this right here criminals want to get away from the cops and not engage them in a fire fight. Their was a day where that wasn't necessarily the case and gangs were happy to engage in a fire fight with the cops. Take a look at the Dillinger Gang he relished the opportunity to get into a gun fight. Criminals these days are soft and weak if they actually organized and engaged in open fighting cops wouldn't stand a chance.

I have mixed feelings on this. When I was a LEO we had to take a test like this every year, same for most armed security in same states.
I like the idea of constitutional carry so many people fail this it's laughable and disheartening as an American.

How big is the target and how long do you have to shoot each stage? If you've got the fundamentals down, those first two are pretty trivial if you're just trying to hit a man sized target, and even 15 yards isn't that bad if you have time to properly reset yourself between shots.

      Anonymous

RTSP is using a different shooting format so I’m wondering if there is any rhyme or reason as why some do it at one set of distances with x amount of rounds and another does it their way.

No holster needed, all shooting from ready position. 50 rounds total (per firearm) 10 rounds at 3 yards 10 rounds at 5 10 rounds at 7 10 rounds at 10 10 rounds at 15 Pass with 80% or better

The statue doesn't specify what the test is. I was curious before I asked you since I grew up in Jersey before I left the hellhole, so all the law says is that you have to pass a shooting proficiency test administered by a cop or someone who's certified by the state to give the tests.

Is it a man sized target? A 12 inch ring? A 2 inch bullseye? If it's not timed, I feel like I could pass that without any real issues and I wouldn't consider myself a marksman or anything, but it would greatly depend on how small of a target I needed to land the shots in.

So that's 12 inches wide and about 20 inches tall, excluding the head section which you shouldn't be aiming for unless you're larping, so yea, if you're not under any time pressure, that's pretty simple as long as you don't let any stage anxiety of it being a test get to you.

                Anonymous

thats the thing i dont shoot reg like that so i may get some anxiety which is bullshit cause 45 mins from all you have to do is paper work and your good to go.

Get some range time to warm up before if you can, and if you're really worried, go shoot a couple of times while trying to pass the test. Living in Jersey sucks, but the taxes are a much more pressing reason to move instead of the CCW test.

If you want to practice at home, you can also get one of those laser target systems that uses a snap cap style thing that slots into your actual gun. I use mine for when I want to just do 10/20 minutes of practice without going anywhere and not have to spend money on ammo. Can set it up in your living room and just use a very small target to simulate bigger distances if you do the math.

Not really. Wawa makes pretty solid hoagies fresh in front of you. You need to be a little careful about which one you want so you get something you are in the mood for. But they have quality ingredients and high standards. Rarely you get some newbie who is inexperienced and low on training, but most of the people who work the deli take it seriously and do better than average to an excellent job. Of course, it can vary location by location and shift by shift, but I've had excellent luck in my area. At least ten Wawa's around me and can't say I've had a bad hoagie from them in ten years. I like how I can customize my ingredients, employees have always been responsive to my feedback. I've paid more for worse hoagies from professional delis that were supposed to be specialized in it.

tl;dr -- Don't talk shit about a company that takes their food service seriously, provides solid quality, and bothers to train their people to do it right.

6 at 25 yards is very reasonable. Overall 80% is also very reasonable. we're talking about a fricking gun here, you fricking moron. Second, the question was simply how many self defense shootouts happen at 25 yards. But hey glad it could serve as a platform for you to expose how much of a raging SRA homosexual you are. (If you even have a gun.)
Third, you are talking out of your ass in regards to NJ. I had the unfortunate experience of living in New Jersey for 2 years and traveled around the state quite a bit while I was there. Outside of the northeastern side by NYC (and some small pockets here and there like Atlantic City) the vast majority of the state is pretty rural and nicely spaced out.
Fourth, some shit head blasting at shadows or imagined aliens obviously isn't a self defense shooting. You probably don't want that kind of person to be accurate actually.

it would be less gay if going through the hoops to even purchase firearms didn't take more than 4 months to be a approved by the lazy fricks in your local pd or worse the state pd. and then the permits to buy individual handguns expire in a short amount of time meaning firearms you actually want to buy may not be available and you settle for mediocrity. alongside with the magazine restrictions and the gay laws surrounding NFA items and general use firearms makes this whole a state a giant clusterfrick.

Well the OP was strictly about the marksmanship test and if there's no time and you only have to hit a silhouette target, this is laughably easy. My quick mafs say if you only miss two or less on the 7 and 10 yard shots, you literally don't have to land a single one at 15 and 25 yards to pass.

                Anonymous

Looks like my quick mafs was off. If you made every shot a 7 and 10 yards, you'd still need to make two shots out of the 15 and 25 yard shots.

He's a bit hit or miss. He's less of an activist and more of a mouthpiece, but he does some valuable litigation. Haven't heard word one from him as far as guidance goes with these initial CCW applications.. if he really wanted to further the cause he'd give some advice on applying. There are volunteers in the State that have made more of an impact than him.

Pretty much what I've been saying all along but you know the crowd here. They all talk like highly motivated operators that would throw themselves at Robb Elementary clearing room after room in under 60 seconds. When the brutal truth is they would also be standing around outside.

        Anonymous

My issue with the whole thing is the cost honestly. I understand something like a nominal processing fee to keep the people in the department going over applications employed, but they want you to pay the license fee, the bg check fee, third party fingerprint lab fees, and third party training/qualification course fees. I live in NJ and the cheapest I'm finding around for the training is $200. I can afford it and pass that test easily, but for a lot of people in shittier areas where daily cc is probably a good idea that amount of money is a heavier financial strain. But no one at all should have to pay that much just to exercise what was just confirmed as a constitutional right. You don't need to pay for a soldier's hotel lodgings just so they won't shack up in your house. You don't need to pay a fee to vote. You don't need to pay a fee to be guaranteed a trial by jury.

tl;dr: get state and local PDs to offer a free alternative for this bullshit or frick off with it entirely. I hope some poorgay from camden sues the shit out of the state.
