I didn't use my shitty Chinese air compressor for a couple months and now the tank won't stay filled. This block that looks to be the solenoid valve that regulates the motor auto-cut off does nothing while the motors are running, but bleeds the entire tank once they're off.
I'm not entirely sure what to do about this and I'm not super comfortable messing with compressed air and not blowing myself up later for doing something wrong. Any assistance or tips would be greatly appreciated
>shitty Chinese air compressor
>not working
Throw it out and get one that isn't garbage.
this, i found a rusty mahle compressor in the dump.
wiring was fricked but inside the switch there was a wiring diagram from1970 so i rewired it and it works fine again.
its frickin heavy and has 250psi
Borescope the tank when ya get a chance. They do fail. I collect the pumps and motors from any good ones that do since it's easy to connect them to any tank.
>holds 250 pissies
Most air tools are designed for 150 PSI systems.
>but muh air regulator
That is not what it is for. If your air regulator fails (it's just a screw and a spring) your nail gun might just blow up.
>If your air regulator fails (it's just a screw and a spring) your nail gun might just blow up.
Not on any consumer or most industrial compressors.
Thar is absolutely what a regulator is for. You're moronic. Watch as I hook up my air blower to a 3000 psi nitrogen bottle.
>explodes in moron
No common compressor is going to blow up an air tool.
OTOH the regulator is a restriction so I plumb regulated and un-regulated lines it being trivial to do so.
>dude, 50 year old air compressor
Don't keep the tank. They are a wear item and will grenade if worn out completely. Stress cycles embrittle the metal until it cracks
that is a pressure relief solenoid, its job is to release the pressure from the lines going from the pump to the tank, so when the compressor starts back up, its not under pressure which would cause the motor and pump to not start properly and can cause damage. there is also a one way check valve that lets the air flow in one direction, if this doesnt seal properly after the air stops flowing, it can cause your problem and allow the air from the tank to leak out thru this valve
stop buying cheap chink shit.
This. After the pressure switch (very likely right at the tank) there should be a check valve. Yours has a piece of crud in it or is stuck open somehow. Clean it up and reinstall it.
>my shitty air compressor is performing shittily
>will the tragedies that stalk me never cease
fricking incredible.
and mods leave this shit up.
ae you kidding me mods leave way worse shit than this up
>mods leave this shit up.
its PrepHole related. why would they delete it? GTFO newbie
if only there was some mixture of water and soap you could put on all the connections and lines and it would show bubbles where the leaks are...
soapy water if you will.
tell me OP, did you even have a father?

OP said its leaking from the solenoid valve, did you even have a father that made you go to school to learn how to read? and it was already suggested that the valve is bad and/or the check valve is bad.
go back to bed kid.
