Humvees used to storm village

Bit of an actual hardware discussion mixed with news and some kino

How good is the use of such tactics and hardware to storm settlements? Unironically looks ISIS-like

Plenty of the invasion of both countries was just fellas rolling up hard on settlements, check it out, too much resistance they'd bounce and let the heavy arse following up deal with any trouble makers. Mostly comes down to having their command know where they are and what they've got to deal with
It is high risk, but if you're knocking c**ts out at 4am-8pm they're generally pretty unhappy and unprepared

The comedic timing of him being handed a fricking AT4 instead of ammo lmao. Ukies knew what they were doing, they just wanted to see some fireworks.

        >The browning is jammed, I am yelling "need .50 ammo!" and the driver who can't hear me begins advancing. As i look over the top of the turret i see 12 vatniks 50 yards away someone hands me a recoilless rifle.

        > I NEED 50 CAL AMMO!
        > gets handed another RPG

fricking hate internationals integrated like that, they are fricking deadweight with the language barrier

Not only that notice how his turret turning handle only works one way, so when he wants to adjust right he has to turn the fricking this 360 left.... fricking hell he's lucky as hell the russians there were dogshit

          Anonymous

You sure there isn't a second handle on the other side if he wants to rotate to the right?

            Anonymous

nah, one handle for turret turning. See how he struggles to rotate it right then gives up and goes all the way left

              Anonymous

Actually, I rewatched it and in the second clip you can see it rotating both directions. It was sticky at first, but you can see it going left during his big crank in the middle of the video and then the handle moving in the opposite direction a little in the final seconds of the clip.

Someone said in another thread that Ukraine's regular forces looks like it captured the conyards of both factions.

You've got American humvees fighting alongside T-64BV, German artillery, Turkish drones, old soviet jets firing American missiles, mixed with indigenous equipment. You have weird niche improvised weapons like Stugna buggies and the 100mm armed MT-LB you'd probably see the GLA using. You also have super high-tech weapons you'd see in a red alert game, like loitering kill drones and whatever they hit Crimea with. I've never seen a war where more rando military equipment is all put to use on the same side, it's awesome.

          >USSR teaches you discipline, hard work, sacrifice for greater good
LoL. Communists preach that. But like everything with commies results are opposite. Work ethics and discipline were notoriously low in USSR. Soviets themselves had numerous jokes about it.

USSR had entire culture entitled Westerns can't understand. Take for example "tighten up" procedure known among car owners. It when you buy new car you take, wrench and tighten up all bolt and nuts in the car. Because work ethics and quality control were so low many bolts would be left untightened or even missing. And car bolts supposedly should be not just tightened but tightened by dyno wrench according to spec and torque according to assembly chart. How many times you did such to new capitalist car? This is all need to know about soviet ethics.

You can see where the BMG is hitting, it's about center on to the building. The rpg or whatever is shot off to the right of it. So it doesn't look like he hit an ammunition there. Maybe another shooter did.

It's either an ammo cookoff, or he hits the guy and the RPG fires into something like a fence. The "rocket" seen in the initial frame is actually made of sparks. Looks like the liquid metal penetrator jet rather than the rocket itself

    >How good is the use of such tactics and hardware to storm settlements? Unironically looks ISIS-like
More proof that time and time again vehicles not designed for direct combat will be used in direct combat if it is mobile, is armed with a machine gun, and is near or around a combat zone due to the nature of war. Solution? Make sure every vehicle anywhere near close to a combat zone has some level of armour (maybe STANAG Level 2/3?) with at least a remote .50 cal. Maybe one day generals and policy makers will pull their head out of their ass and accept that the "battle taxi" is a meme (see the M113 service life).

There should be a military maxim along the lines that "if it has an engine, a gun, and is given to the infantry, it will see direct combat"

EX Dutch YPR (PRI) driver here.

Don't kid yourself, they're hardly uparmored. They're meant to float so they're made very light.

I often had to take off the armored plates for maintenance, they're no thicker then a couple of milimeters and it's all foam behind that.

The big armored, heavy looking hatch? At the front? Covered by the camo net in this picture, I could raise it one hand alone.

Sorry, it's nothing more then a battle taxi and should be used far behind the front line.

Oh, fun fact: It was designed without the 25mm turret in this picture. If you try to float with it in this configuration it will tip over.

Thank god we got the CV90 now.

M113 akshully is armored pretty good.
          http://btvt.info/5library/vbtt_1978_01_m113.htm
Baseline m113 is immune frontally to 7.62x54 AP steel core from the front, from the side with zero impact angle at 100 meters (uppers side)
For 12.7 mm protection it's immune from front, sides are immune at 45 degress impact, upper side is immune at zero impact angle at 250 meters.

In these sort of fire fights how do you know who or what the frick you are even shooting at?

Really in firefights in general you don't. If firefights involved taking shots at visible enemies as much as video games and movies portray, then battles would regularly be WWI tier human meat grinders.

lmao, all he had to do was pick up a cartridge and wave it in front of the crew's faces, is it really so hard instead of screaming AMMO like a hypochondriac for the tenth time? You would had thought he would had worked out how to do basic shit like that to get around language problems by now,

driver probably just didn't hear him correctly through all that shit.
AT4 and AMMO sound similar when you're screaming

I figured they thought he shouted "armor" and they handed him something to deal with it.

According to some anon, their native abbreviation/pronunciation of NLAW sound similar to ammo so that may have been it.

I just hope these morons recognized this as a learning opportunity and figured out some agreed-upon phrases before the next battle.

    >How good is the use of such tactics and hardware to storm settlements? Unironically looks ISIS-like
Holy shit you arm chair general board tourists are clowns. How do you think warfare is conducted in this century, they have a platoon of infantry ruck it into a fortified enemy position where they can be seen coming from miles away to rush straight into machine gun fire or artillery range?

Whats going on with this humvee? It looks like some weird armored body with a box bed, but its clearly open topped.

You can see heads poking around outside of it.

You're blind. He immediately shifts fire to the flashes, then his gun goes dry.

If Wargame, Battlefield, Isis GoPro footage and some logical sense have taught me anything:
    >You go in fast and hard with a lot of supressing fire, preferably something mounted on the humvee, you can overwhelm in
    >Bonus if the Humvee is amored than it's better than a normal technical as small arms won't do much
    >Everything relies on you overwhelming and blitzing your adversary
    >One RPG team, one machine gunner that knows what he's doing and you're going to be toast
    >Wreckages everywhere, people at the top getting fricking domed
    >Also disregarding the possibility of people in trenches being trained/not-panicking and them firing at you from their trench at point blank range
    >Possibly throwing grenades or molotovs at your humvee
    >Also just realized that anybody with a 40mm grenade launcer would frick up at least one of these humvees.

Yeah, the russians tried the same at the start of the war, and were fricked up by the ukrainians.

The fact that they can't do the same to the ukies attacking shows how bad their situation is, and how bad at war they are beyond spamming bodies and artillery

        Anonymous

They've tried to "rush B" with APVs from all sides and got fricked badly without any support. And I believe, one of the captured orcs died a few days later when Poccua striked administration building at the 1st of March. I can't recall the details.
