Indebted servitude via IMF and other loans to western states.

Selling grain and and all natural resources to the west to stay afloat.

Gas rights in the black sea etc.

There was an academic in ~2010 (afaik) who said the only good outcome for Ukraine was to get independently strong like Tito's Yugoslavia.

Yeah and then the cold war started dumbass.

        >Implying the cold war started over lend lease debt
Are you fricking moronic or is that just what they teach you in semenob***h oblast? The tensions that underpinned the cold war didn't begin after WW2, they were just the big show left after the other rapidly aggressive totalitarian shitholes ravaging the world were dealt with. The Soviet Union made enemies of every friend it could have had, which is what happens when your country is a rabidly aggressive totalitarian shithole. No one cared about lend lease, the purchase price was dead kraut. No one cares about aid spending. The purchase price is dead vatnik. Let's start asking every Russian how their misbegotten kind will repay the world for 100 years of global instability, bloodshed, and the constant threat of nuclear aggression.

What the actual frick are you talking about?
In the period post-WW2, the Soviets were incredibly friendly with literally everyone, to the point the US and UK basically went completely schizo and started outright rigging elections in Europe and assassinating entire leftist politicial groups in Europe, including Social Democrats, because they were terrified that people liked the USSR so much, they would simply "vote in" communism.
The Soviets were so friendly, helpful and worked so closely with Western Europe it was literally called the "Peace Offensive" in the UK/US. Stalin often talked about continuining the "Grand Alliance" between the US, UK and USSR, but he didn't realize that Truman was basically an outright hyper racist, American supremacist psychopath.

USSR repaid the remainder of the lend-lease (knocked down to less than 10%) to the USA, by declaring Poland (which the USSR still occupied) having been destroyed by the Nazis and the... By just the nazis, was due reparations from just west Germany, and that covers the USSR debt.

I'm half Russian and this is a very common discourse among Russians. The though that, okay, maybe the West is supportive now, but they're totally going to extract payments and ruin them later. Oh, but what will happen later! Also there is an idea how the West is going to turn the place into "just cornfields". That one I find particularly funny. Like b***h, what do you think Ukraine is? What do think is the situation of a farmer in the EU economic system compared to shitholes like Russia? Also what do you think is the demand and pay for cheap industrial labor in EU compared to Russia?

This. Just don't be a shitskin subhuman eternally butthurt at the West and that's all there is to it. Your country will be vastly better off as the "West's b***h" than anything Russia, China, or Islam can offer. You can still follow your interests to a pretty large extent while being "West's b***h". I don't think shithole dweller want to understand this.

Dead Russians, a reliable democracy in Europe, and shale gas from the Yuzivska and Oleska gas fields the exploitation of which was interrupted by the start of the conflict in 2014. Conveniently, there's already pipelines available for selling them -- they were previously carrying gas from Russia.

I just hope Ukraine doesn't wind up becoming a corrupt petrostate as a result. We don't need another Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, or, well, Russia.

Serious answer? Sweetheart reconstruction deals, and deferral of Russian compensation to their creditors. Ukraine will essentially have the husk of Russia repay the West for the pleasure of killing it. Sanctions packages will become compensation agreements. Russians will be able to work again, but the government won't see a cent of it. The oligarchs will be forced out, because western investors aren't going to play their games.

Best case scenario? China buys Manchuria to pay off the reconstruction. Worst? China takes it by force in "peacekeeping" operations as Russia devolves into the warlord phase. Dirty bombs likely go off in breakaway oblasts.

      Anonymous

      >Sweetheart deconstruction deals
The reconstruction of Ukraine will be financed by the western world at extremely discounted rates. It’s not really something nato “gets” since the money will come from nato and go to companies in nato.

Raw materials from a country that is both going to be poor as shit and a firm ally will mean that the NATO money will come back in the form of cheap resources.

Don't help them, let them stew.

Fun fact post Sowjet collapse Russia got a shit load of money from the west to stabilise. Millions in food aid allone and 10 Billions from the IMF on the condition they behave.

So we just don't do that... Close the boarder, close the trade. Etc. Tarif the trade allowed until change come from the inside.

Others won't help ( Russia likes to pretend to be friends with China but the are like 1,8% of Chinas trade... )

Nukes? well India and China both stated they would intvene in a nuclear threat. Both nation have the people advantage and few nukes. They don't want nuclear blackmail. (No precedent for Kashmir or Taiwan) They want war to play into their strength of conventional people armies... As one of them said "a rabid dog it gets put down"

Nukes ithe end of Russia some unless the want to Suicide it won't happen.

        So what will happen ?
The rich will rule a dump, drive Porsches and mercs drink French wine and eat us steak. have holidays in a Swiss challee. While the peasants pay back the debt with shittier service for the tax money collected. The eternal Russian serfs will swallow that just fine.

You can check how much funding we give to Poland. When Ukraine joins the EU they will get that funding and use part of it to repay it. So in the end the European tax payer will pay for the "free" stuff.

Ukraine will become a vassal of the USA and the EU.
Trade deals that heavily favor the West will be made. The USA will control everything related to liquid fossil fuel, that's for sure. They already had a foot in the door with Burisma before all this started anyway.
Sounds harsh but it's still miles better than that post Soviet oligarchy system.

Ukraine will enter a time of relative prosperity, but won't be able to truly go it's own way and will be abandoned if there is nothing to gain from saving it.

Not a full vassal-state simply because the USA doesn't want to have to take responsibility for Ukraine. Actually keeping track of what the Ukraine government does sounds like work. We'd probably get a sweet naval base out of it but that's about it.

EU has so many fingers in so many pies that they wouldn't be able to agree on how to run Ukraine either so they'd just give it membership and then criticize their legal system.

Actually it was not. The Russians just decided that they were not paying. The weapons given to Ukraine have been donated for free though. As long as they kill ziggers with them that's the repayment

Actual reason, oil shale. Crimea was invaded after exxon discovered deposits in crimea. Donbass was the same story. Their will be a sweetheart deal involving US based fracking companies that will enrich the US and it's allies strategically after Russia surrenders both regions.

Learn to read and speak English. Ukraine will benefit from this by not only being necessarily rebuilt after the war but also taking the European gas market from Russia. The U.S. doesn't have friends, it has interests. This just happens to be pretty much the best deal any Ruthenian could ask for from any government on the face of the planet.

I'd say it's a bargain, both literally and metaphorically. Imagine using your Cold War surplus to hobble an enemy that has been an absolute thorn in your side for decades. Whether it's geopolitics, espionage, supplying enemies, or doing "special military operations" or "frozen conflicts", Russia fricking had this coming for years.

    >How will Ukraine pay back the weapons NATO gave them?
The entire war will be paid by seized russian assets. We've got hundreds of billions of russian money in western countries that were left exposed by the failure of the 3 day special operation.
Between this, the MIC boom, and the future contracts for Ukraine natural resources and cheap but educated workers, this war has been low key a good thing for the West.
When the accounting books are closed, this war is gonna result in a net profit for us.

This does remind me of something. How nice is it for Russia to have so few very rich people who all have such tight ties with the goverment? They won't. Ukraine is literally one of the most corrupt countries on earth. Their entire existence for the past 30 years has been literally stealing resources that go between Europe and Russia.
China invested tens of billions into Ukraine to make it a hub for Belt and Road, so finally, Ukraine gets all this money to modernize their country into what could be one of the most modern developments in Europe and after years and years, nothing was done, because Ukrainians literally pocketed it all and ran.
It's going to be hilarious the second this war is over, the narrative switch, when Western companies realize Ukrainians are exactly the fricking same as modern Russians, thieving criminal scum on the level of gypsies.

They only payback what they keep or was destroyed. And unlike Russia, the Ukranians will make their payments.
