How to get rid of ants?

I know the approximate location of where their nest is outside

Even for the slightest bread crumb left on the kitchen counter an army of thousands will enter the house

Gasing them is only temporary as more of them will come again

What do I feed them that will extinguish their entire colony once and for all?

        >Grab some SF nematodes
This is the right move, especially if you know where their main nest is located.

    Get some borax.
Mix with sugar and water in equal parts.
Once you have a nice slurry drip it onto cardboard bits. Leave the card board bits in the path of their little lines.
    Eventually they'll find them..
Now this is important, things will get worse before they will get better. The little Black folk will go crazy and swarm your borax sugar mix. You'll see a ton of them.
That's good because they're bringing the poison back to the nest.
Eventually they'll feed the queen who then dies.
    Then goes the whole nest.
Or you can get those little liquid nests which so the same thing.

I've done this before, both with homemade and store bought. It doesn't work. The ants quickly figure out it's a poison and fill the bait with dirt. The store bought stuff is so weak that they just eat it all anyways with no effect. And then you need different kinds for sugar ants or grease ants.

What you need is a permethrin spray or foam, it's a nerve agent that kills on contact and stays on surfaces long after it's dried. I've used the canned foam stuff before, it takes some work and might take more than one can to destroy the nest but it works.

        Increase sugar to borax ratio.

Don't do this make-your-own-bait stuff - I used to do it, and you think it's working but you just end up with thousands of ant corpses.

Now whenever I get an infestation I just put out a Terro liquid ant bait and place it at the point of entry to the house, they seem to disappear within 48 hours, or at least it corrals them to the bait instead of your pantry or counter or whatever

You used poison and got dead ants. What else do you think is going to happen numb nut?

I've used terro liquid ant bait and they swarm it but then ignore it. They don't seem to die. I come home and find scouts everywhere. Frick ants.

Take a small dab of the liquid and smear it into the path of the scouts. They'll swarm it. Sometimes they need help

But the corpses means it worked. Then you just vacuum them all up and it's over.

I've always had good results with ant traps. That said; find the nest, and dump ten pounds of molten aluminum in it, then dig it up for cool ant genocide sculpture.

What kind of ants? What country do you live in?

Leafcutter ants are fricking buttholes. I got sick of them so I genocided them with chemical weapons.

Use Fipronil. They sell it as flea repellent for pets. Use the cat/small Dog ampoule. Use a syringe and drop 1 microdrop on a breadcrumb. Prepare a number of baits and leave them IN the nest entrance. DO NOT let lizards or birds eat the shit. Fipronil lasts for months in the environment and is extremely toxic to fish. In fact I have no idea why they sell this shit as pet repellent in the first place. You may need to reapply in 2 weeks once the rest of the ant eggs hatch.

Try this as a last resort only. If it's some shitty black ant, red ant or whatever borax baits are enough. If you got termites however, this is your first line choice. Thanks to the people here who told me about this stuff.

By "gassing them" do you mean pouring a can of gasoline on the nest?
Because that's the eco-friendly method I grew up using.

Buy yourself a sprayer from Harbor Freight and then get yourself a bottle of Talstar. Its a pesticide that you can spray on baseboards, thresholds, and around the exterior base of you place and it will prevent insects entering the home for 3 months.

It's also all natural for any of you homosexuals who care about that shit while eating your xenoestrogen food stuffs. Pet/child safe after 45 minutes when dried.

You can try the other stuff but you'll be dissatisfied with the results.

if you know where the nest is, you can just pour boiling water down into it, that should kill the queen and doom the colony
from what ive seen it works

      This worked for me.
      >pour practically a full bottle of ordinary bleach all around the threshold step they lived under
      >follow it with a full kettle of boiling water
      >unexpected total victory

Prior to this I had a 2" rc car that I used to muslim Christmas the little bastards from my armchair in the conservatory.
I only intended to kill a couple for the bants, but dozens appeared immediately and dragged off the dead and wounded while attacking the car. It escalated to a full on swarm and 40k tier carnage, until they disabled the little car by gumming up the works.
It was pretty awesome really. Moments later a starling appeared and began an ant frenzy before they had even cleared the battle field.
I felt pretty bad but they did violate the NAP and my kitchen

Keep your place as clean as possible. Put out a ton of those orange and blue gel traps

Let the ants come in for a few days. They will keep coming, don't kill them.

In 5 days or less you will have no ants, the gel kills the hives.
