    but i dont have it

they would only really be effective against drones flying under 100m, though even a crackshot might have trouble past 50m if the target is moving
anything higher will require automatic weaponry

I want you to go buy a dozen remote launch clay throwers and set them up in a circle around you pointing inwards. Have a friend, or, in the likely event you don't have any since you keep making these stupid threads, someone from craigslist or fiver, control the remotes and randomly launch clays at you while you try to shoot them down with a shotgun. You will quickly realize that you are a moron and should stop making these fricking threads.

Are you from the future because it's the first time this anon made a thread on the subject.

There is a thread on this subject multiple times a week with the same conclusion every time.

          >the same conclusion every time.
The conclusion I get from the threads is:
          >moronic zoomers on /k/ have zero real-world experience shooting shotguns and therefore ask moron-tier questions over and over again
          Which really boils down to
          >their Millennial parents fricking failed them
Which in turn was the fault of boomers before them. So really it all goes back to boomers.

if you haven't shot shotguns enough to know why this question is moronic, youve failed yourself.

Yes. I fixed it on the skeet range when I went to college.

Millennials couldn't be the parents of zoomers, unless we're talking "child bride" scenarios.
The parents of zoomers are actually the most despicable of generations: the xoomers.

        >he doesn't realize it's actually dogshit forced upon people by ennviornmental laws that apply only to hunting migratory fowl
Where does this neo-fuddlore come from? Is steel shot good in video games?

I'm not that guy, and I'm sure that steel shot would frick up a drone. But the real question is why on earth are you using steel shot for anything outside of hunting? Steel is less dense than lead. It has worse ballistics that basic lead shot. Hunters hate it, they only use it because lead is banned for environmental reasons. If you're shooting drones those laws don't apply and you can use far superior lead shot. Or, better yet, you could use tungsten shot which is even denser than lead.

Steel is the worst shot option, why suggest it?

Shotguns have the issue of shit range, even with special snowflake meme alloy pellets. They simply lose too much speed, too quickly.
The only way you could hypothetically get good range would be to make an aerodynamic slug, which then explodes in a cloud of pellets, but there's absolutely no way you could get something like that in a shotgun caliber.
The smallest such implementation is 30mm.

practically useless. range and therefore engagement time is extremely limited so the number of successful interceptions would be extremely small.

do yourself a favor and buy a 40 dollar cheapo drone off amazon. not lift it off to its max height and see how quickly it becomes near impossible to see, even when you followed its ascent.

now try to SPOT and ENGAGE targets this small 24/7

If only weapons existed that could shoot hundreds of rounds per minute

    >1200 rounds/min
    >.22 LR will reach beyond 100m
    >160 round magazine allowing sustained fire
    >minimal recoil
    >compact and light
Much better than a shotgun, prove me wrong. Would not want to be relying on either, someone handing me a shotgun and telling me to 'shoot them down' would evoke a strong emotional response.

That thing would kick the shit out of a shotgun for drone defense, especially if you loaded it up with tracers. It has much longer effective range, and it's ammo is tiny and light.

Outside of lasers and fancy eway, the best option is some kind of miniature flak gun that airbursts at around 500ft, not sure how safe that would be for people on the ground tho

      Anonymous

      >miniature
      >flak
Pick one. You need explosive filler inside the shell which already necessitates larger caliber shells to start with. How practical would that be for guys in the frontline trenches to hide and use anyway?

Counter suicide AI assisted drones that intercept incoming drones with an explosive charge or trough kinetic impact to keep it even cheaper. Would be a lot more practical imo.

Depends on how far away it is

Not. Shotguns don't have enough range to hit something 300 yards away
(Drone will be 300 yards above you)

Technically, if you're a good skeet shooter, you could nail something like a Lancet (or equivalent FPV drone) during its final attack run. If you're a VERY good skeet shooter, you can nail something like a dropped nade or something.
Problem is, in order to ensure a hit, you gotta be danger close, so you risk getting shrapneled.

Problem is that you have e to see it to shoot it.

A choke and a visible aiming laser would make it easier to shoot down drones with a shotgun.

The best use of shotguns in combat is blowing off locks, doorknobs, hinges and faces, pretty much in that order.
I want to say this before neo-fuds or SBR fanbois give me their unasked for 2 cents: I do NOT underestimate the ability of a shotgun to put someone down in one shot. Hell yes it would, and I wouldn't feel helpless if that is what I was holding in a shootout or a firefight.
In combat I prefer 30 rounds and I've actually been the point man in raids before (GWOT), so whatever point you're going to try to make, I've probably already heard.
    Also, OP is a homosexual.

Yeah shotguns suck for war because the ammo is cumbersome and you can really only hold like 40 shells securely.
