The main limiter is for infantry where they have to be able to run a long way. Old people can run a long way but not with strength (carrying things, over uneven ground). Cardio resilience its under 40 years, under 33 years better. On the other hand not everyone has to be infantry.

At the absolute most you’ll get familiarized with the bare bits of an AK and maybe some marching drills. Definitely nowhere close to either whip someone into even halfway decent shape or give them any in depth knowledge beyond blindly charge at an MG nest or stand guard somewhere where the smooker of vengeance will show and definitely not even close to getting the Beer Gut Battalion into any shape where they don’t die after running a couple hundred meters, which is almost certainly what Russia is going for anyways.
Honestly most of the battle on feeling like that as you get older is to just keep taking care of yourself. Eat at least somewhat decently, stay active, don’t pound a whole case of beer every day/weekend, etc.

I think the US military should have a 50 age max for military work. Only combat arms and anything that carries a gun should be 30 max. I am a 34 year old gym trainer that wants advanced training that only the military can provide, but I am too old now. Also, age should be flexible on a "in person" basis. Some 40 year old are jacked; others have a potbelly. One would think that you would want older recruits based on mental maturity alone.
