    Ohio, no longer needed
one day, took an 12 hour class that included range time, it was the NRA basic pistol course. We got range time in the instructor's back yard.
Did an interview with the sheriff the next week, got my ID in the mail a week later.

    Like a day
I went in on a saturday morning, we had to listen to a lecture, afterwards we got a written test and afterwards we went to a range and had a practical test, then we were handed our permits.

That was a few years back, I didn't bother to renew it when it expired because my state had since passed constitutional carry.

I'm in a CC state, but I get the permit because it lets me skip background checks when buying new guns. Plus, it lets me conceal legally in the neighboring state that I like to visit.

        >but I get the permit because it lets me skip background checks when buying new guns
How? Those are federal not state, do some states have some sort of deal where you don't need a 4473 with the right permit?

          Anonymous

4473 is universal. The carry permit thing is mostly for states that have additional purchase permits/waiting periods for handguns, like North Carolina.

NC no longer has pistol purchase cuck permits. We almost had constitutional carry but our republicans are the most chickenshit little homosexuals in the south.

Yeah I don't understand it. When I lived in AZ the old man asked me a few times if I had a permit claiming it was going to accelerate the process somehow... as though filling out a 4473 and him calling NICS for the proceed could somehow be accelerated. Maybe if you have a bad name and you don't put your SSN so you sometimes get a delay response, but if you normally get a proceed and you live in a free state there's no way to speed up the process.

But I think the wait time would be 10-12 weeks? Idk about that since the times are for when they made it cost 32.50 for the sheriff and zero attorney generals office.

~7 minutes between me signing it and them printing it

note: family moved here 120 years ago, we've paid taxes longer than most americans have been in the country, and liberals pay me to drink my water. My grandfather's town was completely destroyed by fentanyl and I use it's ruins as a combination paintball arena, shooting range and unlicensed hazardous waste disposal site. All the roads are paved with asbestos so realtors and other creatures are afraid to enter. There is active radioactive contamination. Nobody lives here.

    New Jersey.
It took 4 months start to finish but that's not really a fair assessment because it require Supreme Court intervention for them to start issuing permits and I also had to do the training requirement 2 times since the Bruen response bill made everyone who had a permit recertify their training.

Vermont here. We don't have any concept of permits for guns in any form, like, not even if you want one. That's unlike other states that are also constitutional carry, which unfortunately means that we don't benefit from reciprocity either though at least it doesn't matter in NH or Maine.

Allegheny has a neat little side entrance to the courthouse that leads to the LTCF desk and *only* to the LTCF desk so you don't even need to disarm when you renew

Northampton is not as nice. It's inside the courthouse behind the security checkpoint. You have to pay on the 2nd floor, and the sheriff's office is in the basement. The sheriffs are behind glass with positive air pressure, so you get blasted when you walk up to the counter. Of course, the courthouse is also located on the best side of Easton where every other parked car is booted. Definitely a place to remind you why you're there. The irony of having to disarm to renew is not lost here.
