      This
But also real life war isn't a video game. "Frontlines" are usually nebulous things that can be infiltrated and contested. Unless you're dealing with static trench warfare, both sides can cross the "frontline" as much as they please in certain areas where there is sufficient cover or lack of resistance, and once crossing into nominal enemy territory they can further infiltrate and basically just go wherever until they hit enemy patrols or resistance. The degree in which this is possible depends on the war.

Unless you literally have troops sitting in the village and the shooting has stopped nearby, the idea of "this side has captured it" is extremely ridiculous. The boots are just currently on the ground there. That's it. Whether the boots being on the ground means anything is a different question entirely.

i mean are we even in an "insurgency" stage yet or what? Does anyone think Russia can just draw a line and say a territory is theirs without continuous attempts at terrorism? In this modern age, it seems everyone is on the verge of revolt after 20 minutes of Twitter

There were only Ukrainian soldiers there since 2015. The entire area is extensively fortified. They were building those defenses for eight years. That they even broke through indicates how bad situation on the ground is for the Ukrainians. But you're just a shill so your only talking points are memes.

Where are those fortifications? Neither Russian nor Ukrainian photos from Pisky showed anything of the sort. Not to mention that Russian will have to take hundred upon hundreds a of way bigger villages and cities on their way to capturing Donbass. How does not capturing a village that has 6 streets in 6 months bode for Russia in the long term?
