How does /k/ feel about gun customization?
Just had a friend do this (new production) stock for my Swedish Mauser. It was the first time he did a rifle stock, and I paid him with a set of professional pyrography tools. I like supporting local artists.
>(new production) stock
It hideous and you don't have any taste, but I don't give a shit because it's new production.
I'm not insane enough to hand my aspiring friend a 120yo original stock.
This tbh. Paint a mural of wieners on it if you want
You did THAT to a fricking MAUSER STO-
>(new production)
Carry the hell on...
What anime is that skull on the left from? Or is it an Undertale reference?
Nah, just kidding OP. Looks okay, if kinda silly.
Get that tube off the top, it’s hideous.
Other than that, goofing about with new production stocks is acceptable.
A moment of silence for that poor firearm.
>poor firearm
A 100+yo gun will now see regular use and maintenance. How is that "poor"?
It's ugly. You've damned the barrel to a life of weeaboo servitude.
Give the gun a proper viking funeral and burn it instead of toting its corpse around on an anime deathbed.
*imho
looks pretty amateur
I think this level of quality is fine for an old pattern gun that can larp as the rifle of a Mexican revolutionary or something,
The problem is that there's nine skulls on it.
Putting skulls on guns isn't a good look, but it's not bad for an amateur. It's your shit, do what you want with it, just don't irreversibly frick up something of historical value pls.
It's not to my taste but I don't have any problems with someone customizing a new production stock. I don't have a problem with older guns being customized either if they're already fricked in terms of collector's value. If the gun was already the victim of bad neglect, damage, or Bubba's handiwork then there's no further harm done by customizing.
>swedish mauser
>day of the dead mexican visuals
>modern scope
???????????????
why
The visuals are all kinds of inconsistent too. A lot of it looks like day of the dead, but some of the skulls on the left side of the pic look more like something out of the One Piece anime. Then you've got the strong geometric sort of look at the wrist of the stock, and traditional foliar sort of engraving above the trigger....none of that is consistent. It's like it can't decide if it's supposed to be an anime pirate gun, a cyberpunk thing, traditional engraving, or day of the dead. It's a random mishmash. Might as well put a Kentucky longrifle buttplate, a modern tactical sling, sword bayonet, laser, and micrometer target sights on there to go for the whole schizo package.
>Kentucky longrifle buttplate, a modern tactical sling, sword bayonet, laser, and micrometer target sights
Based tbh
Yeah, I'd say the Mexican motif is more lever action appropriate.
>How does /k/ feel about gun customization?
Its fine so long as it isn't milsurp or some exceptionally collectible antique gun.
Should have done that to a old lever action would have made more sense.
looks neat except for the LER scope. cmon anon that fad should have died in the 90s
Why does /k/ have such a burning hatred for scout scopes?
they're gritty, disgusting, and they get everywhere
because they are objectively silly. they made sense back when scopes had trash eye relief but nowadays you can get a proper scope with like 3inch eye relief, plenty of space to keep perephrial vision.
another issue is that almost ALL LER scopes are low quality and most scout scope people buy the cheapest ones possible and put them on the shittiest rings possible which they put on the most shittiest mount possible
You should have done something along the lines of this if you are going to bother adding optics
Dump the scope. Now.
Ah I've been waiting to see this stock, personally I think your friend should've gone with a different style. As to your question, if its in production or the modification is easily reversible then it's alright in my book
cringe worthy dogshit but if you're happy with it more power to you
trashy
I remember you mentioning this a while ago, and based on what you posted then, I would have expected this to look better.
Same. But it is what it is, I gave him full artistic freedom.
I will say, it looks massively better in real life than it does in photos.
The placement is solid, the filigree, flowers, and crosses look fine. The quality of linework even looks pretty good. But those "skulls" are terribad, horribru, frickugly abominations that look like they were drawn by someone with a single digit age and low double digit IQ.
Yeah I don't know what he was thinking. I can slap a buttstock pad on it to cover one of them, at least.
Take a Dremel tool with sanding belts to those skulls asap. It would be better to have round divots than what you currently have. If you want to fill the rounded voids after that then just have someone do sinple mandelas or something. Anyone besides the guy who did the skulls...
Hmm. I could probably get my girlfriend to do something nice.
>placement is solid, the filigree, flowers, and crosses look fine. The quality of linework even looks pretty good
not really, everything is of varying thickness
virtually nothing is parallel
all spacing is inconsistent
plus there's the south park tier skulls
Added a cheek rest since I couldn't get proper contact. I think it looks better already.
I'd loot you for the +10 damage boost to raiders if I had the chance
>damage boost to raiders
>not to undead
I personally don't think the artwork itself looks great but if it makes you happy, then rock on anon
OP i think the skulls look fun.
>How does /k/ feel about gun customization?
If it's your personal property, you can do whatever the frick you want with it.
