how do i fix this rotten shit?
just moved in a month ago. been pestering landlord but i don't think he gives a shit. it's all pretty rotten, even the door where it touches. i tapped the wood with a screwdriver and it'd go straight through if i put some force behind it.

proper fix would be to cut the jamb out and redo it but not only do i not have the tools for that i'm not going to do it. i'm only staying here for a year, but this shit is gross and insects are going to get in.
so, what options do I have? it looks like someone put a bunch of JB weld on it or something, which doesn't seem like the worst idea.
my current plan is to maybe stuff some backing rod in gaps and cover with wood filler.

      Anon is correct.

If you have a reasonable LL it is possible to work out a deal where they give you a rent break when you fix something, but most of the time it will backfire.

Spray the door jamb with residual insect spray every couple of months and leave it at that.

I don't care about losing the security deposit tbh. If I'm going to live somewhere for several years then I'm going to improve it to my standards and take opportunities to gain experience.

then get mortgage on a house you will pay less than renting and when your ready to move you can sell it to a profit for some landlord tard to try and get a return in 30 years

For various reasons, buying a house is not a sensible proposition for me at this point in time.
I'm still going to improve my rented space.

This stuff is awesome. The only down side is getting the right amount mixed for what you need because it doesn't store wet.

Email the leech once a month that _____ is wrong.
    Wait until contract ends
Wait for him to blame you and keep the deposit
Lookup the law about unlivable conditions and threaten a lawsuit for your deposit and a year of back rent
    Get deposit back
From experience, that's how you deal with it.

Marine JB Weld or something similar sounds fine, too.

ffs just bodge a thin foam weatherseal in there to keep your chitinous dinner from escaping and call it a day.
