we saw a lot of them recently in fact. a number were deployed with the vdv “offensive” in the forests south of kreminna. one or two got destroyed with footage of it. seems to me to be a tactically sound decision to deploy them in wooded areas, although of course the russian army is still trash as a system which is why they didnt make any difference.
I'm sure there advance urban warfare abilities are being utilized effectively by Russia.
Perhaps by advancing them, alone, unsupported, across vast open fields....

Not many of them were built, the footage that is out there isn't really flattering (what with the gun barrels vibrating and shaking uncontrollably like the poor thing has Parkinson's), the Ukrainians already got footage of blasting one to kingdom come and when you think about it, the intended doctrinal role is mainly a stupid self-inflicted problem in the first place that no other nation has to deal with.

This is clearly by design. If the gun puts all the shells in one spot you only have one hole. If the gun spreads them around you have many holes.
this is usually by design for mgs not really for autocannons. It's better to place your shots on the trenches/windows rather than all around them.

Like the other anon said, I could see the point if they alternated fire, so you'd have double the rate of fire and therefore a higher probability of a hit, etc. Otherwise it just seems to double ammo expenditure for significantly reduced accuracy
it would make sense if we were in 1960 but with modern FCS wouldn't you be better off with a very precise low rate of fire cannon with smart programmable munitions?

So the 2 Russians inserted a pipe through a recently made barrel and held it under a power hammer as they were attempting to straighten the barrel by eyesight alone (And this fucking power hammer didn't have a die or anything for them to use a guide or for more precise hammering... they just held it under there until it looked straight). After that barrel was done being "Straightened" They threw it in a pile and got the next one. Once that was done the same 2 fuckers where the ones attaching the barrels to the rest of the autocannons before boxing and shipping.

AFAIK only one barrel ever shoots at one time because they are both loaded with different types of ammunition. if you shoot at a target that is suited for one kind of ammo it wont be suited for the other kind of ammo.

I mean define "winning". Advancing tens of metres a day for thousands of casualties in a single village for months? Do we have to forget the kharkiv and kherson offensives? If anything the war has ground to a stalemate, but the ukies are the ones getting more advanced weaponry and training, whereas the russkies are dragging t-62's from storage. The trend doesn't seem to favour the russians at this point

There's very few of them to begin with, add in the ones already destroyed and its even less.
You also have to consider its one of the Russian wonder weapon armata kind of things where its mostly propaganda with about 12 that actually work and it's going to be withheld, hence why the footage of it there's never any enemy visible, just trees.

Russia isn’t smart enough to make them at scale and the Russian Army isn’t smart enough to use them to any meaningful effect even if they were. So why bother? It’s much easier to just say you’re winning.
