If you're a bong with engineering talent, its all too easy to jump ship to the US and make big money with a defense contractor offering compensation that just doesn't exist in the UK. If you're an Austrian or Spaniard, there's a language barrier so they're able to retain talent that the bongs cannot.

Because General Dynamics is a shit company who did as little as possible.
Scout SV should just be given to BAE and the CV90 with a 50mm autocannon and GD should be fined/sued for the entire program cost, the cost of the disabilities caused from the suspension and then extra just for not delivering what they promised.
BAE can be buttholes but clearly other companies want to compete for that title.

Lots of people don't understand the role of IFVs so make moronic arguments for and against specific vehicles.

All the issues people have been talking about are related to revision 1, they are now on revision 7 or something and the vehicle trials are proceeding well ahead of formal acceptance.

Meanwhile you've got trash like puma that gets accepted into service without proper trials only for it to fail when it's time to deploy.

Puma seems like a much better vehicle though

Puma was pulled from NATO duties because it doesn't work. Had to be replaced by marder - this is after the German army accepted it into service. The flaws with puma would have been caught if the Germans did even a third of what the UK does for pre acceptance trails.

                >Y.. you could!
You can't because a single point if failure is not the same as systemic decades long failure. The comparison would only work if the QE's were so unreliable the British were forced to keep their old carriers in service indefinitely.

                Anonymous

A carrier is an infinitely more complex piece of equipment than an IFV. And yet despite that the issue was fixed in a month and the ship is back in service. The pannenpanzer still has problems. You chose a very bad comparison.

Or lets me guess, all those countries were beaten by physically weak men, with shit weapons?

Britain didn't conquer the world with any of the weapons that any sane person admits are shit. Britain lost the world in that period anon. Britain's engineering and weapons, up to WWI, were the best in the world. After that the quality of their engineering and weapons, and their imperial holdings, fell apart pretty quickly.

Independence is the parting gift of the British Empire. It was always intended as a somewhat racist "let's bring civilisation to these people" kind of benevolence. There's a reason why the former territories of the British Empire are doing so much better than their neighbouring states who were in the French/Spanish or God forbid Belgian or Dutch empires.

worst part sounds (pardon pun:)) the high sound level.

    "hearing tests after rides".

Hello (pardon pun:)) we learned in 1st grade that hearing loss is some sort of both PROGRESSIVE and DELAYED....so you might not know you are being harmed until its too late AND harm can set in long AFTER you thought you were OK.

In other words, its basically a sure thing in a few years there will be all these Brit Vets with major hearing loss from riding around it these things in little gay peacetime drills.

And its not just like the one guy who flies the Sopwith Camel, it will be everyone who rides around in IFV (of various sub-models), in other words basically the entire fricking army. I remember hearing (pardon pun:)) that in US Army tankie crews would often be transported out to their MBTs in M113, just in training because theory was you didn't want the Meat Bags need to run the big armor being the weak link riding around in soft trucks, and you didn't want drive valuable MBT out of guarded entrenched positions everytime crew needs to get chow or change their diapers. Something about swapping out relief crews, but everyone is riding around in IFV or APCs.
