How can I improve the safety of my basement storage area (locks?)

There’s an area in the apartment basement where you have your own room to store stuff in. A bunch of the other neighbours also have their own rooms to store stuff.

One of my neighbours are psychopaths and hate me. It’s a metal door with just a regular lock. There’s a security camera on the outside of the basement area but one cannot be installed inside as there is no access to wifi and also electricity.

I need to store some stuff there for a few weeks. I was thinking of adding an additional padlock to the outside of the door just to make it harder for them to break in but I’m not sure.

They can easily steal some of my stuff and just put it in their storage room and literally no one would know.

Does anyone have any advice?

Can you install picrel on the door without getting in trouble? These are probably the best way to go that would require them to do quite a lot of damage to remove it, unless they’re some autist lockpick king.

Also what did you do to piss off all your neighbors? You should bake them some cookies ya c**t.

… or whatever good lock and shackle would fit that can’t be easily removed or cut with bolt cutters

There already a normal fricking lock built into the door but I’d think they could easily pick it if they wanted to

I didn’t do anything they’re severely mentally ill and said they’re against air conditioners because of the noise they make they can hear their neighbours air conditioners when they’re on

Cheap small padlocks can be cut with bolt cutters in 5 seconds. Do whatever you want, booby trap the door.

Any ideas on wtf that means

At least you would hear someone drilling possibly if they cut it

Check out lockpickinglawyer on youtube. Most locks are a joke and only keep out honest criminals. Even a dummy like me can rake open a master lock in about 2 seconds without breaking it. He has a video on reenforcing a door lock core with extra security pins.

He's picking the lowest hanging fruits on most of his videos, and when he gets an actually hard to pick lock he has tons of very, very specific tools for each one that your average methhead thief or angry neighbour won't have, most professional locksmiths don't even have a fraction of his arsenal.

This, no one goes around with a huge array of tools, a lock’s number one enemy is a battery powered angle grinder.

    Eastern Europe?

My advice would be adding anything that would make a lot of noise if they had to brute force it, for example with an angle grinder.

If you have a window install thick rebar in there. Definitely get a GOOD padlock or even two, make sure that it's a kind of lock that a typical stupid thief wouldn't be able to pick and that's made out of a material that would take a lot of grinding time and noise to cut through.

Also swap the lock for something better and more lock pick proof if you can.

Get a good latch/staple for the lock, not sure how it's called in English. If you have a metal door bolt it in and also weld it or something for more safety. Overall make sure that they're going to make a frickton of noise if they're going to try to get through the door.

I mean the latch for the padlock btw, not the door.

      Yea

      >make sure that it's a kind of lock that a typical stupid thief wouldn't be able to pick
      How do i find that

      >latch/staple
What is it called in eastern european

Tbh I can’t ruin that door cause it’s public property in a way and my parents wouldn’t let me. Not sure what to tie to it to make noise other than a bunch of tin cans on strings?

        wrzeciądz or something? xD
        >How do i find that
youtube reviews and tests, maybe there's a specific forum for that in your country
        >Not sure what to tie to it to make noise other than a bunch of tin cans on strings
definitely not enough noise, this needs to wake up people living in the whole building or at least the bottom floors, this needs to be at least as loud as an angle grinder

      >weld it
Put in a few spot welds then just use a battery powered angle grinder to remove them when you're done storing in a few week. Don't worry about the noise because you're not stealing.

Anonymously break into one or two of the neighbors storage areas. The landlord will install better locks for free in very short order.

Move down your crappy couch to make room for the valuables in your own home for a couple of weeks.
