I recently got 20 acres and it came with this free cabin. I'm going to use it just to avoid camping while I'm building my house. I'm going to be honest, this is kind of a lazy post, I just want to talk about the land, it's 20 acres, South Brazil, I'll probably have internet again by next month, meanwhile I'll clean everything, change doors and windows, clear the land around it. I also need to set up an outdoor bathroom, an outhouse, if you will. Then I'll focus on the fences and other externat stuff.
Do you have a lot of indios around and wandering through the property at all hours?
There are two tribes nearby, one speaks Guarani and I was told they were originally from Paraguay, I met two of them and they were really native, I have never seen anything like that, legit red skin, not regular bronze, red. The other tribe seemed chill, like, like a regular village but everyone looked native.
>How are you getting clean water?
I got 5 20l gallons and went to the local gym for showers. I'm starting with a manual pump + clay water filter (I've been told it's a Brazilian thing, I thought they were everywhere?), should be enough as a temporary solution, but I'm looking into digging a proper well later. I can also get from the river, but I'll need better filters.
>Do you need power?
I have a power line that goes straight to the property, but I need to replace the utility pole, right now I'm ok with no power because I'm only using gasoline tools on the exterior, but I'm going to need it soon, it's going to cost me $285 for everything electrical.
>Do you plan on doing agriculture?
Yes. I'm starting with bees and an orchard since it takes longer to start producing, there are already three jackfruit trees, and some plums, but only by June I expect to start producing for profit. After I start making money that I'll start thinking about growing my own food.
>What's the local community like? Do you worry about security?
The people were very nice to me, I was kind of a celebrity there, lots of Portuguese, Italians, Polish and Japanese, they all seem very racist, kept warning me about quilombolas (blacks). Customer service is great there, cars stop for you to cross the street, people leave their bikes unattended everywhere. Criminality is pretty unheard of there. The two towns near my place have 5k people each, there's one further away with 20k but it was also really safe. I'm not really worried about security, I have a gun and a dog, but I'm also getting motion sensor lights, cameras and other stuff like that later.
>two tribes nearby
>seem chill
Try not to leave anything outside. If you catch one stealing something, just let it go.
By nearby I mean 30 kilometers, it's a huge area. Is that a legit thing that could happen?
In my country the natives steal anything not nailed down, and they have guns, so you let them. But they generally do not enter buildings or rob people.
I would try to talk to other people from the area to find out if the tribes are dangerous
i think it would be cooler if op went to war with the tribes. besides if they learn that they can steal from him they will keep doing it. op needs to set the tone right off the bat. i would even suggest making the first move by killing an elder tribesmen to mark his territory. if that's too much maybe just slaughter some of their goats while they're away and paint their huts with their blood.
They have kids there, I'm not doing something like that. I'll have some dogs and electric fences, if he someones jumps in it knows fully well what's getting into
This, establishing dominance this way is the best thing to do. If the OP is lucky he might even be proclaimed as the new chief of the tribe and score some tribal pussy.
In all seriousness OP, good luck. Seem like a fun time to build everything from scratch in tropical paradise. What kind of a house do you plan on building? Something in a style of classic colonial era hacienda would be epic
>they all seem very racist
and there is a good reason for it
if you think american blacks are evil brazilian blacks are straight up uncivilized beasts
Webms reckt Oscar when? Brazilians "quilombolas" can't stop winning.
Sounds incredibly based. Good luck.
Around quilombolas (blacks) never relax
Be kind, but on guard
I'm wealthy for my area (US) and give people money who actually need it and donate to missionaries building houses in Mexico.
Most blacks act like white people where I I've but there are always the ones trying to take more than try should. I've had problems with blacks who are even doctors trying to break contracts whereas white people don't. (I'm a contractor)
I just don't understand the culture difference and why some are good and some are bad. I know the biological differences but even stupid white people aren't as big of a drain on society
How are you getting clean water?
Do you need power? Do you plan on doing agriculture? What's the local community like? Do you worry about security? How's you get it?
Looks like spider central
Post some pics of the interior, anon
Absolutely nothing. I didn't even took a pic, it was too dark. I'll be back next week and I'll make a report showing everything properly.
Can I come visit you? Eu falo portuges pequeno.
I'm jealous. Except for the Brazil part.
Perdi
Calm down clybaby
