I'm just as surprised as you are, frankly. Officially, Sea Viper doesn't have anti-ballistic missile capability. But we all know NATO tends to undersell its capabilities.
>U.S Central Command released the following update:
>“At 11:51 a.m. (Sanaa time) on April 24, a coalition vessel successfully engaged one anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) launched from Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist-controlled areas in Yemen over the Gulf of Aden. The ASBM was likely targeting the MV Yorktown, a U.S.-flagged, owned, and operated vessel with 18 U.S. and four Greek crew members. There were no injuries or damage reported by U.S., coalition, or commercial ships.
>Separately, between 12:07 pm and 1:26 pm, U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) successfully engaged and destroyed four airborne unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) over Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.
>It was determined that the ASBM and UAVs presented an imminent threat to U.S., coalition, and merchant vessels in the region. These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S., coalition, and merchant vessels.”
How long til the aster block 1 upgrades are completed? Don't want to run out of whatever missile is doing the work because of bad procurement timing.
>How long til the aster block 1 upgrades are completed?
There hasn't even been a validation launch yet, or at least no public announcement of one
>Don't want to run out of whatever missile is doing the work
That'll be Aster 30, and we don't know how many were built
initial contract was for 100 per ship, in both 15/30 variants
>wiki
humph
>Block 1 and Block 1 NT
are not yet in service, the contract for Block 1 was only signed in late 2022
Behind times grampa, the block 1 has been in service since 2022
In 2022, the United Kingdom announced a series of upgrades to its Type 45 destroyers.
Not that this doesnt say that the upgrades commenced in 2022 only that they announced them.
Since block 1 was officially in service in italy since 2016 i think the odds of them testing the block one before 2022 is highly likely.
now let's see you produce them consistently to meet the growing demand))
>now let's see you produce them consistently to meet the growing demand
lmafo, not possible in bonglandia
Yup, not with our godawful energy poverty
It carries the aster 30 missiles and as wiki states:
>The Aster 30 Block 1 and Block 1 NT were designed to counter ballistic missiles.
So the do officially counter ballistic missiles
Anon it couldn't be clearer that you scrambled over to wikipedia out of contrarianism for an Epic Retort. Please just shut the frick up and absorb info.
The contract to do the work wasn't signed til december of 2022. It categorically was not in service at that time.
>initial contract was for 100 per ship, in both 15/30 variants
eee that's not a lot. Israel's tally for ballistic missile tracks exceeds that. Need more spam, or 'Ceptor-ER if the new announcement from italy involves new capabilities (haven't read it yet).
There's no way the RN bought only 600 Asters, the problem is unlike the USA they don't publish ammo purchase info. (I suspect the US probably only publishes theirs because they buy in such large quantities that the $ amount triggers some obscure disclosure rule somewhere.)
The US approach is to withhold capabilities but disclose quantities. Exact numbers are provided for most things, if you care to find them in the budget books. Ex. the number of NGSW rifles is known, whereas the UK equivalent requires an MP to ask in PMQs.
Imagine if it's just some dudes yeeting gym equipment.
Royal Navy shitting all over third wolders is a tradition going back 500 years, they should build up the numbers tho
Ohnononono warriorturd what now
Notice that he had no comment, because it blew up his stupid "only ABM" boast
I thought he shit on the tyoe 45 for not having anything to attack land? Wasn’t it common knowledge that they are capable of intercepting missiles?
4X has always been RN terms for air defene you stupid Black person
And I’m supposed to just know that? Why are you so mad?
>not old enough to remember the type 42 destroyers lost in the falklands
What is the RN term for just a regular destroyer that can engage both air and land targets?
Mad
he tried to say that only US destroyers had shot down ballistic missiles
and then this happened lmao
He already made a comment kek
Impotent seething.
How many missiles and drones have the PLAN shot down?
Absolutely malding lmao
Clean your boat.
>going to all the trouble of providing nicely formatted greentext
>not including the source link
For frick's sake OP.
What boat? Can you learn to speak English?
Which of these painted images is a ballistic missile?
Also, I want them to let some ballistics through to see if they can actually hit moving ships reliably.
>Also, I want them to let some ballistics through to see if they can actually hit moving ships reliably.
Curiosity killed the merchant mariner.
If they can't hit ships with a good enough accuracy we shouldn't bother wasting missiles shooting them down
>previous kills
Are Bong ships able to link into AEGIS?
Is it a case where they can't take them out on their own but with AEGIS feeding them targeting info it becomes possible?
Or are they simply just sporting some weapons not on the official roster?
not enough public information to tell aside from a report done by the US naval war college which just reiterates the whole radar being capable of tracking 1,000 objects the size of a cricket ball travelling at three times the speed of sound reddit trivia
We know that the Type 45s have the usual NATO data links so in theory there's nothing stopping AEGIS from giving them targeting data if they're on the same networks.
Does anyone have a score card for all the ships in this operation? I think the USS Carney is up to like 20 interception kills by now.
>zoomer buzzwords
rope yourself you waste of space
worst generation
>he knows they are ~~*buzzwords*~~
lmfao, just think this is your job, no wonder youre so moody and pissy
I do it for FREE however!
>I'm just as surprised as you are, frankly. Officially, Sea Viper doesn't have anti-ballistic missile capability.
Its not really all that surprising tbh. Sea Viper is capable of intercepting very fast, very high altitude targets. What is a ballistic missile if not a very fast, very high altitude target?
I'd be interested to know what phase the missile was in when it was intercepted as that plays a pretty significant role in judging the SV capabilities in the ABM regard.
Every time I get confused about what the Houthi's are trying to accomplish by stepping on the toes of essentially the entire planet, I remember that Yemen is considered moronic even by ME standards
My dick is HMS Diamonds
>Be Type 45 sailing past Crimea
>British ship change course!
>No
>BrITiSh sHiP i WILL bE fIrE!
>Are you threatening me?
>Change course pls
>No
>Continues on way
>Russians sperg claiming they fired across British bow and dropped 4 bombs in its path
>Russians sperg claiming they fired across British bow and dropped 4 bombs in its path
Oh I just
WISH SO HARD THEY WOULD
Imagine the amount of return fire that would result from even attempting that, would turn anything in it's area (all 500 nautical miles) into a combined arms death zone
PLEASE russia just be russia for once and fire at a NATO ship. Do it. PLEASE I want to see the news when one your ships just so happened to "sink by itself" again
How about you get a blue water navy turdie
>How about you get a blue water navy turdie
maybe we will, how much you want for that bong-boat *over there* in that dry-dock?
>yeah this thirdie wants to drop more than his shithole's gdp on a used carrier to try and flex on britain
>gdp
>firstie
lmfao, may we see what you produce?
>thirdie understanding of economics
Yeah pal, im sure your production of sandal leather beats out the value of one New York security firm's building. Services make money but its abstract value, something you cousin frickers wont understand.
How much do you get paid kek
That would take your country 1000 years to pay off. No thanks. Your credit isn't good here.
>shooting down a goatfricker “””ballistic missile””””
>acting like its any kind of achievement
I bet you 90% of those things could even hit the ships they were fired at
>yeah
You might have that viewpoint because youre a moronic thirdie. The west doesnt seem to be in a war with you subhumans, itd be nice if you just kinda left the boats alone, but policing destroyers arent fighting a war. I wish we would tho, i saw that houthi rally and was like... damn thats a lot of soft targets uwu
>U.S.-flagged, owned, and operated vessel
rare
Nah. We just want you thirdies to stop being moronic so we can get on with overeating and paying more for the shit you make than you earn making it in a week. Nobody gave a shit about yemen until they started chimping out at ships. The only question really is whether we want to spend the cash to squash them the fun way.
>About 150$ per day.
Cool thats minimum wage in my country, about what id expect a literal shill to be paid.
>ASBMs don't work
>ASMs don't work
>cheapo drones don't work
>speedboats don't work
So what is the next turdie cope gonna be?
Peak oil
Man I miss that dude, the new breed of schizos aren't even genuine anymore, just homosexual /misc/nog overflow and paid shills
True. We could've flattened their nation with conventional bombardment.
Problem is they chose RC Cola who is small, run by morons, and on the brink of collapse. LMAO.
>HMS Diamond shoots down Houthi anti-ship ballistic missile
its like being proud to catch stones of some locals by shooting at them with golden bullets paid by your people when defending ships of people who are proud to own your politicians.
What? Speak English moron.
>What
>can follow basic English.
How much of Israel is in you?
>ItS dA jOOs!1
Bruh
>'can' follow basic English
This is true, I can. You however can not.
What shithole do you call home anon? Care to post passport/hands?
learn grammer Black person
Anyone got a QRD on Sea Viper? It seems pretty different from American and other Mk41/standard missile-using navies design philosophy and doctrine. The closest I can think of is ESSM, but Aster 30 seems to be of a higher performance and weight class.
it's basically an Italian-French version of the SM-2
on the Type 45 they paired it with the best mechanical radar put on a boat, thanks to bong autism (the Italians and French opted for a slightly smaller radar)
it's not an ESSM, it's a long-range area air defence missile
there's work ongoing to make it an SM-3-lite for ballistic missile defence
I was expecting to find warriortard having a melty, but it looks like we have a butthurt chinkoid instead. what a nice surprise
https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/missiles-sighted-15-nautical-miles-sw-yemens-mokha-security-firm-ambrey-2024-04-26/
in other news, the houthis just bombed a russian tanker
the last ship they managed to hit was a chinese oil tanker a month ago
>he's pretending to be warriortard now
wew lad.
Bongs trying extra hard after Falklands showed how bad their ships' AA was.
oh so you are actually warriortard, you showed up late, the insecure thirdie that calls everyone airmen came here before you, kinda stole your show.
you're free to seethe about the british now but nobody's really gonna see it, thread's pretty much dead for now.
if a schizo seethes about a country's military in a thread, but nobody turns up to see it, did the seethe really happen?
lmfao this cannot be real, the thirdie rage coupled with the borderline-incomprehensible ESL word salad is just too perfect
Bloomberg says the UK Navy has confirmed two attacks on vessels in a series of headlines hitting the Terminal around 1400 ET.
UK NAVY SAYS ATTACKS RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO VESSEL
Ya, looks like you didn't shoot down all the missiles
Source?
Tyler fricking Durden lmao
Bloomber idiot
to be precise, it's Zerohedge claiming that Bloomberg said that the Royal Navy said this, but with no URL links or images to substantiate it
>syntax
wrong
context
Most news on zerhedge is copy pasted from Bloomberg terminal, you should google what that is.
I was using Bloomberg terminals before your balls dropped, kiddo
then why do you want a url link
>then why do you want a url link
because any other reliable corroborative sources available on the Internet would also be acceptable
>or images
>images
who's going to take a picture of a ship in the ocean?
the twat couldn't even take a picture of the alleged Bloomberg announcement, is what I'm saying
fricking hell, grow a fricking clue
Until we get a direct link to Bloomberg’s site to this mythical story to read in full I’m going to assume that our resident bong-obsessed schizo is huffing copium in industrial quantities, particularly since he seems weirdly insistent on prancing about doing anything instead of providing actual, first hand sauce.
ZeroHedge is literally FSB/GRU propaganda.
PART II
interesting, thanks
it's easily seen that ZH has an anti-US slant but you never know whether people are useful idiots, or contrarians, or doing it for clicks and cash, or actual Russian disinfo channels
>picrel
this includes me
as a quant, I find it useful as a barometer of bullshit. since every trade has a counterparty, it can be said, to an extent, that the market is always 50/50 in outlook. so it's useful to know even what morons think about the market.
That vessel in question is carrying Russian oil to India. Why should they protect it? I thought they made a deal not to hit Russian ships?
>you should now from syntax
Can't make this shit up.
Go to sleep warriortard, tomorrow is another day in your shitty life of helpless seething
>Grim
NTA but it warms my heart to see you so utterly bongbroken over that singular phrase.
Get some sleep, fartsniffer, another shitty day in your life is on the way.
>repeat same meaningless sentence
>still doesn't go to sleep
warriortard is gonna die from heart problems when he's 50 or something lol.
sooner, hopefully
lmao just use a fishing boat and strip a gepard turret to it for these cheap arab Black person troony tractor drones.
How is a BM supposed to even hit a moving ship?
Apparently they put an EO/IR turret on the nose and then steer it with radio guidance.
This just in
>Anti-air technology deployed by US coalition vessel was destroyed by what is claimed to be a bare chested houthi wielding a pistol and what looks like a parrot on his shoulder that were riding in a rubber boat that was slowly taking on water.
