I backpacked the JMT in 2013 and even back then it was crowded. Since then, the number of hikers has quadrupled. What the frick is going on and how do we stop it?

picrel is PCT permits
You aren’t just witnessing a crowd, you’re a part of it.
um sweaty actually no. these people are sheeps while i am an alpha wolf, we are not the same
What the frick is a hiking permit?
Do TH gays really
Both the AT and the PCT passes through 6 or 7 National Parks. National Parks have designated campsites so newhomosexuals like you who are completely shocked at the idea of hiking permits don’t trash the entire place and instead just frick up a small designated area.
trails are better for everyone, they give superhighways to the back country and keep normies contained and off wilderness for more experienced folk. roads on the other hand...
>discussion about permit use which pertains to designated campsites
>mentions trails
The permits have nothing to do with trails. They’re for designated campsites. Is this confusing? How do you not know this?
discussion is about a trail and the permits to get on the trail in the first place. I'm against permits.
>Don't live anywhere near the park
>Pay money to enter it
I see nothing wrong with this.
The PCT thruhiker permit is free.
The JMT is a lottery.
You do these things on the weekend because you are a weekend warrior. You go PrepHole casually because you don't have anything better to do and you never developed any hobbies. You copied someone else because you didn't know what else to do with your life. You are, in essence, a loser, no different than the mouth breathers overcrowding the trail.
>What the frick is going on
COVID pushed a lot of people outdoors.
>and how do we stop it?
You can stop it by an heroing yourself.
The chart in OP refutes what you just said.
The number in 2019 is higher than 2021 or 2022.
It wasn’t Covid.
he's right, but it clearly doesn't apply to this specific example. in this case, they're just issuing more permits.
COVID ruined the outdoors. Year of the bike and all that nonsense.
with time, nice things get more and more popular as more people get exposed to it. this is accelerated with technology, social media and so on. also covid and so on gave a good push. also, the more people interested, the more money there is on the thing, so there are more offers and information and equipment is more easily available, so more people are interested
nature is small compared to the amount of people there is, cities are very densely packed. i think it will never get any better than it is right now, some things just stop existing after a while
Nature will stop existing eventually. Look at Europe.
