Hey guys, I dropped my aircon remote last night, the screen is a bit cracked but it still works, can you even pay to have this screen repaired or is it just easier to buy a new one? I was roped into buying a generic aircon remote for a different aircon and it's okay but it occasionally doesn't work and it's a bit shit, thanks for reading.

If you can't just order another, you probably can't get ahold of parts for a replacement.

What eBay was made for, this
You'll score a replacement for about $15 and you are not repairing it any cheaper

All I can find on ebay are shit jap knockoffs, even though they say "genuine", the remotes have the same buttons but one button is different, is this what I have to deal with? I found one site where I could buy the exact same one but when I went to make an account and put in my details it turned out to be a scam site, it turned into a different url when you go to sign up, there's only US places even though the original site was legit.

          Well, there's your problem.
I've bought both originals and knockoffs in UK eBay with no hassle before, but was only mitsubishi I think. And tbh, there wasn't much difference between them - certainly cheap knock off is better than a busted display, and you can always return it if useless. As said tho, idk, AUS and Fuji, your choice maybe indeed more limited.

OP here, yeah, I thinks my only option is to buy a cheap knockoff, that's all that's seemingly available.

Damn man that's almost identical to mine only my buttons are translucent plastic. Batteries are going out, display is very dim.

Buy a Flipper Zero. Use it to control every single infrared appliance in your life, and much more. That is what I do.

Zoomer anon, a universal remote is like 5 bucks.
You don't need to pay 180$ for one.

The Flipper Zero controls much more than mere infrared signals. At $180 it is an incredible value for what it is capable of.

it only does some basic garage door frequencies and costs more than a HackRF + PortaPack

I'm sorry you wasted your money, bro. But don't make other people follow your mistakes to rationalize your own purchase.

FALSE. Infrared, RFID, Sub-ghz, iButton, NFC, GPIO header, and much more. It would be best if you shut your wiener-sucker to avoid looking more foolish than you already do..

you aint being especially convincing here Flipper Zero anon. And Im not anon who was asking. $180 for a universal remote is wild - most I've paid was maybe $75 for a Logitech setup, and that only because I knew it had enough community support to give a 75% chance of it running whatever shit I pointed it at. Tho I think even they discontinued those remotes, for whatever.

Yeah, it so much more than a "universal remote" for tv's. The cognitive dissonance on this board is astonishing. People talking shit about something the no literally nothing about. Just stick to your Funko Pop collection, son.

In January of this year, I cloned an RFID badge to a pay parking deck. I've now parked there dozens of times this year for free. That alone paid for my Flipper Zero.

I have also cloned every remote in my home. I control the TVs, soundbars, ceiling fans, thermostat, and landscape lighting with it. I upgraded the firmware to Unleashed and it is awesome.

if you have any pre-S10 Samsung phones you should have an IR blaster on the top, there's a good chance you can use a universal remote app and get it set up with ur air con
    >if you're a cheap bastard

lot of modern phones still have IR blasters, got a Redmi Note 10 from 2 years ago, still got one. They supply their own universal remote app (free) but i guess you could use any - there's is big on chink satellite tuners and shit and not much else, but seems to have a good aircon selection as well. And its always worth checking if manufacturer supplies an app anyway - Fuji def. have an aircon remote app (Android/Apple - DONT need IR on phone) also for free, no idea if OPs system supported tho, obv.

score a lot of obscure AV stuff, 90% -remote, and the amount of junk already in db was impressive. They should have sold Harmony etc. to someone who'd support it.
