Henry is now producing an evolution of it's lever action mag fed offering with a change from the browning BLR Long Ranger rack and pinion gear driven system, the SUPREME ( shit name I know )
I'm kinda interested on it since I have an old Remington 600 rebarelled in 300blk with a frick HUEG br tuotte suppressor but I want to replace it by either the SUPREME tacticool levergat or a plane jane ruger ranch 300blk
Pay in mind I already have experience in "modern-ish" leverguns such as the savage 99 C 308 and the Winchester mod 88...
Does someone is excited by the henry or is it lolcrap garbage?
Oh and tacticool Levergat thread I guess.
I don't like it.
I do like it
Levergat that takes standard AR mags? I'm sure they will sell tons of them, and I'm sure it will piss off the fudds too. I'm curious how strong the action ends up, I wonder if .458 Socom is practical? Not only is this handy for suppressor use but it's also good for people in ban states.
>I wonder if .458 Socom is practical?
Probably not.
I get that it probably can't handle full power loads like a CMMG Anvil can, but the down-loaded stuff you see in normal AR-15s? That might be feasible depending on how it locks up.
>I'm curious how strong the action ends up,
Strong enough for 5.56, at minimum.
>I wonder if .458 Socom is practical?
I can't see why it wouldn't be, from a strength perspective. Factory .458 is loaded to low pressure (35k IIRC) precisely to keep the bolt thrust similar to 5.56.
Of course, you already have to open up AR-15 ejection ports a little for the big-body cartridges, and the ejection port on the Supreme looks to be even smaller. Dunno how practical that will be.
>I can't see why it wouldn't be, from a strength perspective.
Like you said, factory loaded .458 is kept to low pressure but it's still known to crack the lugs on AR-15s because when the bolt face is machined out to accept the larger .458 cartridge there is a loss of strength there. I'm curious where this lies: same as an AR-15 where it's OK for moderate use of ~35k loads? Weaker, where even that is pushing it? Or perhaps stronger, where you can bypass that 35k limit?
With a manual action you don't have any bolt thrust when you're unlocking the bolt so unless they're making a weaker or smaller bolt than the AR's, it should work. 450 bushmaster would be the most capable big bore AR-15 cartridge for pushing harder in this because it's a better designed cartridge for high pressure
A big factor in bolt failure in 50 beo and 458 socom is the gas system. A gas system designed for short barrel, big bore, suppressed use adds a lot of stress to the bolt when used with high pressure loads out of a long barrel. The guy who designed 450 bushmaster originally had it set up for full pressure loads with more case capacity. There were lots of naysayers saying it wouldn't work because of the bolt strength, including Jim Sullivan and iirc Gene Stoner, but he had such a well designed setup with a stronger bolt made of proprietary steel, a cartridge design that reduced bolt thrust, and a gas system that delayed unlocking until bolt thrust had been lowered, that he was able to get them to buy one.
The guy was pretty active on forums until he died and one of the things he recommended to people who wanted more power out of the 450 bushmaster was to use a longer gas system and increase the pressure.
>With a manual action you don't have any bolt thrust when you're unlocking the bolt
"when you're unlocking the bolt" never matters. The question is whether or not the lockup can sustain a steady diet of .458 loads. Everything else you wrote, while relevant, has nothing to do with "unlocking the bolt"
When you have steel on steel at tens of thousands of psi bolt timing absolutely matters, it's why suppressed mk18s break bolts and cam pins more than M16s with their comfy rifle length gas systems and heavy buffers. If you try unlocking a bolt while it's holding a couple dozen thousand psi that's hundreds of ft lbs of torque the lugs have to deal with while also holding the pressure from the cartridge while the contract surface is decreasing. This noticeably affects fatigue life
Would be dope if it takes STAGNAG mags
It does take STANAG magazines.
that's pretty dope
I hope they make a nice flat sided metal mag for it. Make it STANAG compatible but sell the gun with some nice magazines that don't look moronic as frick on a classic looking rifle.
I have a Henry Long Ranger in 5.56 and love it. But this looks great.
I'm planing to buy one in .300 blackout when they come out. I wish Henry would post the product page already.
Should be great suppressed. 20 round aluminum mags will look very cool in these.
they have said in interviews its sub MOA and the action is the smoothest level action that exists
i want one but they are going to be over 1000 dollars
>the action is the smoothest level action that exists
That's a bold fricking claim, but big if it's even remotely true.
>i want one but they are going to be over 1000 dollars
If they really are as smooth as claimed that is a tiny price to pay.
>they have said in interviews its sub MOA
this doesn't mean a thing anymore
i couldn't see buying this for anything short of a legal limit and is still prefer pump action if i had to have one
A) There's no natively 300blk stanag fed pump rifles ( the troy PAR is garbage and don't come factory in 300blk)
B) there's places where pump action is zcary evuuuul verboten when levergat isn't
C) all the Remington 7600 derivatives are known for stiff action, shitty mag and feeding and subpar accuracy...
it looks so fat
it’s just like me fr
It looks moronic, just lik... hey wait a minute...
i'm definitely going to get one for no other reason thank i think they're cool
They will look sweet with wood furniture and 20 round USGI mags.
This, though I was thinking it might be nice with black 20rd USGI style mags. Shame about Okay because they used to make that exact mag.
I bet this paired with some steel straight 20 rounders would look incredibly stylish.
Black folk done goofed not using proprietary mags so you can get around mag bans.
mag bans don't ban by brand name moron
looks Sexy, like Me
Homesteader is interesting
Would buy for shits and giggles if had the money
Is just a 9mm rifle for round the house chores or whatever they marketed it as
>round the house chores
what chores require a gun?
Taking out the trash
Reptile patrol.
we get coons trying to get in our back porch, momma just chases them off with a broom though
What exactly is that? Is it a real gun, or is it some sorta aftermarket stock?
POF tombstone
a $2000 9mm lever action pile of shit
>aftermarket stock
Kinda looks like a Magpul Remington 870 stock maybe?
>or whatever the hell they marketed it as
https://www.henryusa.com/rifles/homesteader-9mm/
Ain’t my fault you don’t know what chores guns can be used for
>uscca
>elegant carbine
Lie.
>large loop for fat alcoholic boomer hands
I hate large loops so much. They ruin the lines of the gun and make the lever harder to work. It's literally just boomers with fat swollen hands coping for the fact they can't use a normal lever gun anymore. I fricking despise them.
>literally just
>he doesn't know the origin
Meme or not, you're wrong and wrong headed.
Frick you satan you know I'm right
Posted from a throne of lies, disregarded
nta but if you can't fit your gloved hand into a regular lever loop you're either a freak-sized mutant or just plain fat. and most of you mutants aren't built that big.
>gloved hand into a regular lever loop
>under stress with the grizz chawin' upon your naughty bits
Really?
>be in grizzly country
>rely on a long gun with no sidearm
ngmi
Op here, I agree the lever isn't my favorite since it's a bastard between a traditional lever and a real large loop... I have both on win94s( std and "wrangler" edition)...
This isn't particularly comfortable nor aesthetically pleasing...
Nope, you could heavily modify a sr25/m14 mag to feed on a 308 ble but that's all, feed lip and retention design are very different ( ex blr 243 owner)
Edit frick captcha seriously
>I hate large loops so much.
Standard loops are made for manlet hands.
>t. 6'8" with natural monster hands
i could've sworn there was already a way to convert BLRs to take STANAG mags
this looks awesome though, i wonder if they're gonna be cheaper than the AR lever action conversions
>I wonder if they're gonna be cheaper than the AR lever action conversions
Msrp is $1400
Dunno about the ar15 levergat convertions
Detachable magazines are systematically the weakest point of any firearm. It makes no sense to have a detachable magazine in a firearm that is intended for hunting. And yes, there is no point in having a lever action rifle besides hunting.
What about "fun and challenge" you gormless autist?
>There is no use for a way to rapidly and safely unload a gun in an hunting scenario
>Stanag feeding geometry is arcane magic
Yeah...
Why no tactical bullpup levergun?
Basically a lever Keltec RFB.
I wish to God someone would make a Browning Model 95 with a detachable mag.
>detachable BAR/HCAR mag
Don't hold your breath.
They already had a mag fed lever gun. What is the point of this one? That it was accurized and takes pmags? I don't get who it is for.
t. h004 owner
>mag fed levergat
for what purpose
the only good thing about levergays was that the tubular magazine could be topped off without ejecting a cartridge
> Being able to use spitzer pointed ammo instead of flat points and newish super expensive FTX bullets is useless
If you don't shoot past 150 yd like most nearsighted gunsummerists I get it...
why are gun companies going so hard on the lever actions?
In this case, it's fricking Henry
In all the other cases, their manufacturing is catching up to memes and AWB fears from 2 years ago
Pretty much this, but it mostly comes from the bankruptcy and patent holding end of the Marlin brand:
Look at this:
Henry big boy series
Rossi r95 30-30
S&w 1954 44mag
Ruger 1895 $$$ overpriced edition
Turkchester 22 thingie
All of this are marlin derivatives (336, 94, 95 and m39)
Come on I give two year tops for uberti/pedersoli to churn out a marlin copy, not counting chiappa since their la322 was a m39 derivative already...
