Looks like a gun for space warefare where you don't want to have brass floating around.
(Though in vacuum brass would be the only heat sink for the whole gun).
Threadly reminder that >Cases don't absorb that actually much heat relative to what is dumped into the rifle - not enough to actually cause an issue in an assault rifle >The G11 didn't have issues with overheating, only with cookoff >While cookoff is associated with overheating in other traditiional firearms, it occurred in the G11 because it put the propellant directly in contact with the chamber wall allowing ignition at average chamber temperatures well below that of cased ammunition >The cookoff issue was solved with HITP.

It shocks and appals me how many alleged adults talk out of their asses about shit they don't understand. The most simple logic and understanding of reality would show you this statement was wrong.
>Since, radiation is in the form of electromagnetic waves, it does not require any medium and hence, the waves can pass through vacuum. Hence, the heat transfer through vacuum happens through radiation.

it's a shame they let people as stupid as you vote, it really is
That burst shit was popular among governments back then because it was thought to increase hitrate for poorly trained recruits.
That's why the FAMAS got one too.
Half this thread is filled with fuddtards.
Too bad the hyperbust bullshit dragged it down. It looks like a really smooth shooting little gun in all the videos I've seen of it being fired in full auto.
The germans have this innate desire for precisely engineered solutions, even if that requires massively increasing the complexity and moving parts in the process.
>wouldn't be a more complex gun that performs worse
Go ahead and try to figure out literally any other way to make the gun work within the burstshot requirements that need it to shoot thrice before recoil is felt.
Stupid motherfucker.
i would merely choose to foresee that the ACR program would not be won by a rifle and spend my effort elsewhere. i understand why moronbrained mechanism-fetishists like HK's employees would fail this simple IQ check.
Would also "just" predict, down to the date, when Germany would reunify, you mongoloid?
The G11 wasn't designed for ACR. It was designed for West Germany and was adopted. The cost of pulling East Germany out of its communism-induced poverty is what caused its cancellation.

Alright, go suck start a shotgun. It'll transport you back and you can fix the timeline.

hmm, no. i don't see a reason why you'd deserve my help.

>East Germany Still poor shithole >No G11
Clearly the worst timeline
I think the biggest issue would be making the caseless ammo. I thought that was the main reason the project didn't get carried forward since they wouldn't used any of the existing stock.
>We can reunite and rebuild Germany. >Or we can fix and field the G11. >We chose the cheaper option.
Actual quote on the matter. Turns out caseless ammo is super difficult to figure out. Also, the teutonic clockwork that let's you fire a three round burst before you feel the recoil isn't really grunt hardened. And then the whole SPIW concept, while really interesting and leading to a ton of different experimental rifles, never actually lead to increased infantry leathality. Better to train special forces with a simple and reliable carbine, then call in artillery and air strikes as needed.
Pro tip: Brass absorbs some heat and prevents the barrel from deteriorating quickly
I too have seen forgotten weapons

>minor addendum: polymer cases insulate the chamber from heat and enable MGs to fire longer than brass
She cute.
AWAKEN
Be careful what you wish for Shikikan.
Name of the gun?
FAMAS
It's name is Frankie.

Literally just make a thicker barrel, weight doesn't matter in space.
Inertia still works the same. Just cuz it doesn't weight much, you still need the same force to swing it around.
I don't think that's true, anon.

Too mainstream, why don't we talk about Mauser G11? Or Diehl Project 401? Or VBR CAR?
>Heckler & Koch G11
Based cuckoo clock makers
In their defense the clockwork mechanism was due to the requirement to get multiple rounds off before recoil is felt.
Please don't tell me that's the actual internals
The magazine rounds are perpendicular to the chamber.
>Please don't tell me that's the actual internals
Kraut Space Magic, anon.
STARE AND DESPAIR, ANON.
This isn't a meme that is the real internals.
all that for a burst meme that didn't work
and HK later got their revenge with the meme m4 report that counted improperly using the burst mechanism as not one but two major failures
all that garden gnome ash floating around must have worked its way into the german bloodstream

Germans are peak engineer race, no wonder they have successfully controlled the world 3 times in less than a century and dominate the EU.
peak engineering wouldn't be a more complex gun that performs worse. i don't know what that is, peak tinkering maybe. peak gnome.
don't be jealous Moishe
i'm jealous of HK's successful scams, not their failed ones
G11 was just a hypebeast, people still talk about it decades later. Entire thread is dedicated to it. HK fucks hard, always has.

I wish the G11 and Hill SMG got revived.
Rube Goldberg guns deserve more love.
Besides legal issues, what is stopping someone from replicating the entire thing?
I bet the internals are available somewhere online and with an unlimited budget its easy to find someone to fabricate all those parts.
So to get this done you have to suspend the rule of law and have unlimited budged?
You aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer, are you?
Your reply is so retarded I don’t even know where to begin, a leddit moment if I ever saw one
>"besides legal issues..."
>"erm... to do this you would have to suspend the rule of law"
he can't grasp the concept of hypotheticals. clearly around 80 iq. not sure how he stumbled upon this website in the first place, must be a miracle

Why aren't they testing those in Ukraine ? It's a morale boost without pissing off the other side.
the Heckler & Koch G11?
Wasn't it killed thanks to the collapse of the USSR?
Yes but it was really German reunification that killed it
