Encountered my first example of stolen valor. Fricker was doing the entire Travis Bickle/Rambo schizo act in BDU's that haven't been issued in decades
Normally I'd say stolen valor is based because frick ZOGbots but this guy was being lazy as frick about it and acting like a autist
So he was just wearing camo.
nah he was actively claiming to be ex military with airsoft repros of camo that would have last been issued when he was a child.
Sounds based as frick.
>nah he was actively claiming to be ex military with airsoft repros of camo that would have last been issued when he was a child.
Absolutely based. As a combat veteran I support this glorious loon 100% in his mission to devalue the pompous idiocy of POGs worldwide who no one ever shot at and who all seem to think they can be indignant at other frauds
15 years ago almost every victory parade on red square, there were many grandpas, who were pretending to be veterans of WWII, though they were like 8-10 years old as war started.
Was that just them doing it for fun or was that state organized to get muh great patriotic war veterans to attend the parade and show then off?
Not a lot of ww2 vets left these days..
The last living American civil war veteran got outed as having been six years old when the war ended after his death
Damn. Dude came out of the womb with a musket in his hands.
>stolen
>valor
Can't steal what wasn't earned
>valor
>some made up titles etc
Can't have something there isn't
What the hell is that even supposed to mean. The definition of stealing is taking something you didn't earn lol.
I think his point is that there's little valor left in the military for some poser to take away.
In my experience shell shock is only socially accepted in veterans, so many men with shell shock pretend to be veterans to get a level of acceptance.
I've never known someone to pretend to be a veteran for personal gain.
A decade ago I encountered a wearing medical scrubs and doctor's coat at a book store. Sometimes he would dress like a chef.
Did he have a barcode on the back of his head?
I suspect my co-worker has lied about doing a tour in Iraq, I believe he was merely a reservist/basecuck
There were both reservists and national guard in Iraq. He could be both.
e.g.
https://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/your-marine-corps/2015/08/19/marine-reserve-unit-hit-hard-in-iraq-holds-10-year-reunion/
And: https://www.military.com/national-guard-birthday/national-guard-service-in-the-war-on-terror.html
>Guard and Reserve units made up about 45 percent of the total force sent to Iraq and Afghanistan, and received about 18.4 percent of the casualties
We're not American, and he's only 30, and I'm 90% certain if I press him for details he'll pretend it's classified or say some cliche non-answer. This thread will be dead by the time I see him again though, I might have a new story in the next stolen valour thread.
If you were in the reserves for the bad shortage times 06-12 you are very likely to have been deployed.
Yeah, me. Had a broken leg when the call for conscription came, and i really wanted to go to uni so i used that to dodge conscription. But when people ask me I always tell them that i did my service to avoid being mocked
It's very easy to detect posers like you. At least where I'm from.
This gives me a idea, why are there no prank videos where someone purposely steals valor to troll zogbots? Like just fo around obviously in a fricked up uniform combo claiming to be a vet, maybe even asking for money as a vet to draw their aggression? Ima do it.
I only use it strategically to get free doughnuts or the occasional meal. I don't go around crowing about it. That's lame
I don't know if this counts but one of my Marine friends said some guy he knew saw barrel bombs in Syria then I told him I don't think Assad bombed Marines and he got mad and said if his friend was here he'd knock me out
Talked to a guy (American) that claimed to have fought alongside the Azov Battalion in Ukraine. He claimed to have done that medieval battle larping shit with the blunted swords and joined up with them for a while through that. I told him I didn't believe him and asked for proof, and he acted offended and left. Never saw him again.
>have you ever encounterd stolen valor?
Putin acts like hes some kind of a military leader
As someone who has served in special forces during numerous secret raids deep into Iranian territory, stolen valor makes me sick. My brothers bled to keep this country safe, and you want to use their sacrifice for a quick ego trip? Really disgusting.
This. As a former Navy Seal who graduated top of his class with over 300 confirmed kills and training in gorilla warfare I have to say Stolen valor is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard of.
Some old drunk was trying to impress underage girls by telling them he served in the Falkland's War. They were obviously just hanging around him to get alcohol and he was doing his best to try and look 'ard - the barman told him to piss off. Fricks were not given.
The thing about stolen valour hunters is it always strikes me as losers trying to live in their past life and protect their sense of specialness. There's a specific breed of veteran you find on facebook that is like this, just never shutting off their character and posting cringe memes - they're exactly the people who obsess over stolen valour. On the opposite side you have the people doing stolen valour are either mentally ill fantasists or homeless scumbags and the easy counter is to ignore them like you would real veterans.
>Make a point to never talk about my past military life outside a few dumb stories because it was over a decade ago
>Everyone thinks I was some operator rather than that I mostly got in the way and made a big mess everywhere I went
>Everyone thinks I was some operator rather than that I mostly got in the way and made a big mess everywhere I went
Everyone does that, because like life, war is messy.
>losers trying to live in their past life and protect their sense of specialness. This. Fakers are pathetic but harmless. People that get mad about fakers are also pathetic. It's all wasted effort on both sides. Live your life and let it go.
As a non-combat veteran who has never been shot at, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE(to spill your takeout on soul food thursday and lose an entire ham hock on the stairs). These kind of things leave a scar on your soul, forever. I still wake up sweating, and hungry. COME BACK! YOU WEREN'T MEANT TO DIE LIKE THAT!
A friend of mine who speaks Russian regularly solicits donations from VK and Telegram claiming to be a disabled VDV vet, he sends the money to Ukrainian charities.
Absolutely devilish
>VDV
>Alive
Sounds like they deserve it tbh if they cant notice such a basic red flag.
I admbit, I did of stegal the valor wwhen I was young, but wdas very bad ganme.
I'm not out looking for those morons. I did nod to a Vietnam Vet today though. I always seem to get along with those guys.
Just yesterday I saw a player in runescape who had 'iron' in his username but was NOT an ironman.
Just remember that the report function exists for people like this, stolen valor is no joke.
I’ve heard fudds in stores run on about stories that didn’t make a single bit of sense, but I casually pass by without saying anything anyway. They just want to impress their old friends or inspire some kid anyway.
I steal valor. I’m a soldier and an officer in the reserves. I don’t go overboard with it but I slapped on some jump wings, an OEF ribbon, no big deal
I stole valor once just by accident.
I was at an All you can Eat sushi restaurant with a friend.
My brother, who was in the Navy at the time, sent me a normal shirt that said NAVY on it, and i was wearing it that day.
Well we go overboard at the sushi restaurant and i end up having almost an entire roll left over.
The typical rules of a sushi restaurant is that you have to pay extra if you order too much and dont eat it, but i was so fricking done i couldn't possibly eat it.
When we got the check the waiter guy said it wasnt a problem and thank you for your service.
Saw a guy last year pretending to be a US marine vet from the "pacific war". He was like 45, wore multicam pants with MARPAT top. The worst thing is that he was in Vienna and didn't speak a lick of english. There was certainly some degree of mental illness involved as well but it was still funny how blatant it was.
