has anyone here caught a salmon and ate it raw after killing it? doing it bear grylls style would probably be unpleasant because of the bones, but it should still taste better than the flash frozen ones. bonus points if it has eggs

Littlre bit of salt, and black pepper, with a squeeze of lemon juice.
Cooked.
Dude. . . Wild animals done even eat raw salmon like that. Seriously, coyotes and wolves will leave salmon out in the sun so it and crows will kill the parasites raw salmon have so many parisites.
You just know bear Grylls got like 10 types of worms from this.
Ever had sushi ya dum dum ?
By the time the fish gets to the end consumer it has been hard frozen to kill all the parasites. Please refrain from commenting on things you clearly don't know anything about.
Sushi is treated in various ways.
You're thinking of sashimi
Wild salmon is never used in sushi, only farmed salmon.
bullshit...
its used more than farmed
>I'm ready to settle down now
Would it be immoral to frick this?
It would be immoral not to.
>its used more than farmed
Nope. Never. In fact salmon was never used as sushi and sashimi prior to farmed salmon being introduced to Japan.
thats bullshit. I worked for a fish distributor and the best sushi restaurants were all using wild caught fish.
I've eaten raw striped bass, but never salmon, I don't know if I'd trust a fish out of freshwater even if it's ocean run. I can tell you that fresh striper was amazing when it was caught off the beach 20 minutes prior.
Sushi grade fish is typically flash frozen to kill parasites.
that looks incredible, i don't think i've ever ate white fish raw. closest thing would be fermented ones
then fish for salt water salmon if you are so scared. they are perfectly fine to eat raw
Salmon actually have more parasites in them when caught in the ocean
Unless you're talking the Great Lakes franken-population as the "freshwater" salmon
t. fisheries biologist who works exclusively on salmon
how safe are tuna? i heard that the FDA doesn't have flash freezing rules on them cause they are bigger
I dunno, we don't have tuna in Alaska.
If you eat sashimi or steaks regularly I believe there is a real danger of mercury poisoning though.
Eating canned tuna is apparently better since it is often sourced from smaller fish (less mercury accumulation).
It looks like you have tuna in Alaska.

Joking aside. I was watching a video of an Alaskan catching smelt. He was using it as bait and said that people eat them, but he never has. He's eaten carp, gar, bowfin, etc., so his prejudice, which came across in his delivery, seems unreasonable to me. I grew up in Chicago, and I've had fried smelt a couple times. It was good. How do people eat smelt in Alaska? Is it commonly eaten?
Have you ever read "An entirely synthetic fish"?
Have you ever seen someone die from food poisoning?

You dum dum. I forgot to tag u dum dum
Its funny you dont beleive that raw meat can be healthy but sad of how ignorant people are
Do you think the same for raw milk? Like really people drank it for millenia and then all the sudden pasteurizion saved the world? Your a dumm dumm
Learn more about parasites and bacteria and you will realize its a cause and effect...parasites only eat bad tissues.. toxic bodies...cooked foods
Worms eat dirt .
Not flowers
Innuits freeze the raw meat before they eat it to kill the parisites.
moron b8 but str8 from the udder is best milk. Store milk hurts my guts and tastes like old lady vegana
Yeah most people (especially americans) don't realize that it's better raw. The stuff sold in stores is boiled and mixed with hormones and chemicals and additives. What's crazy is the fed made it illegal to sell raw milk commercially in the US, there's several famous meme cases about organic farmers getting raided by 30+ armed feds because they were selling raw organic milk.
Don't listeen to this fricking waste of oxygen.

Or do and get parasites if your anywhere near civilisation or large animal inhabitation.
there are PLENTY of animals that eat salmon raw, just think about bears
and almost all wild animals are full of parasites, thing is, most don't survive the diggestion system of non-host animals
I don't want parasites thanks.
Ever heard of the innuits or any other tribes that consumed large amounds of raw animal foods?? Ever watched people on youtube eat raw meat?? Ever aten raw meat yourself? Raw eggs?? Dum dum
Go read dr weston prices studies ya dum dum
The people on YouTube who eat raw meat and milk get bacterial and viral illnesses on a regular basis from it. Eggs are perfectly safe to eat raw because they have a impermissible membrane around them, except in my country the USA Wich has piss poor food safety standards. In my country they let eggs fester in chicken shit for days so they end up getting infected with salmonella for the most part.
just clean the shell and dont let the inside touch the outside
Salmonella only comes from sick animals . And people consume raw meat without getting infections. I know all this info is earth shattering and its hard to beleive because "big food and pharma" in your mind are safe and effective. Infections are actually detoxes. Again , think about cause and effects.
Do you guys also think antibiotics are harmless? You know the warnings list they Can cause organ damage? You know they kill loads of good bacteria? You know most "sickness" is better to let it run its course? Because it is fact a detox , not a "bug" the body has to fight...
It is obvious you have done no deep research that opposes your view and you are too scares and will not let your ego be crushed and admit you are actually wrong
At least learn more about the opposing view a little more so you don't appear to be a total dum dum
Worms and parasites, not Salmonella
Don't argue with him, if he wants to be a moron and eat wild salmon raw then that's just natural selection. The parasites deserve their meal more than he does.
I’ve heard Aajonus talk about that years ago, how illness is just body getting rid of toxic stuff. I think the whole terrain theory is probably way closer to the truth than germ theory, it just feels like there hasn’t been enough real science done in the modern era for us to get a better picture of the truth. By chance do you have any recommended reading for this area? Ive beenlooking for a book to dive deeper.
>I think the whole terrain theory is probably way closer to the truth than germ theory
Tell me you ain't denying the germ theory of disease. You gonna start leeching Black folk to realign their humours too?
Not saying I agree with this guy but you don't have to deny germ theory altogether to make his point. Obviously bacteria and viruses are responsible for a bunch of diseases, we've isolated them and can prove their effects. But you can argue that the "always just kill the germs to treat the disease" practice is oversimplified and not always the best course of action for your overall well-being. We have internal defense mechanisms like fever to counteract these things--there's some truth to the detox thing though "all infection is just detox" is a fricking moronic take--and I think it is true that today we're overzealous at using medication to try to alleviate the uncomfortable symptoms of disease, and causing unintended consequences as a result. Medicines have side effects, and antibiotic resistance is becoming a real problem. And it's plausible that our immune systems are growing weak as a whole because we use medicine so much that your immune system never really gets a workout anymore.
I take a common sense middle ground, I try to sweat out minor illnesses and let my immune system do the work but I get actual medical treatment if something is really bad. No one can deny that less otherwise healthy adults are dying of disease today than at any point in history.
Yes it is undeniable that the population is growing absolutely out of control
They cured the meat via freezing for weeks on end. It's the best way to eat whale meat
I've done it with Tuna. Had fileted sashimi about an hour after bing caught.
No I'm not too keen on getting parasites, which all wild fish have.
I eat it raw too
too bad there's no onions sauce and wasabi out in the ocean
I cook too good to eat it raw. Plus you live longer if you aren't riddled with mystery worms.
I have eaten raw elk and deer heart so I guess I should.
Anyone itt that is worried about parasites just hasn’t taken the horse paste pill
>caught a salmon and ate it raw after killing it
>bonus points if it has eggs
Yes a lot of times. It is a tradition every year in the commercial fleet I work in.
why does the top one have legs?
Salmon has a lot of parasite. You are not supposed to eat it raw.
The funny thing about posts like this is the homosexual who wrote it has probably never even caught and eaten a wild salmon before. But because your brain has been molded by American television, you have to add some additional element to it, even though you will never do either.
>The funny thing about posts like this is the homosexual who wrote it has probably never even caught and eaten a wild salmon before
you're right, the closest thing around here is rainbow trout
If you cook it, it tastes a lot better.
But if you're moronic then yeah, do moronic stuff.
You'll always find other morons that'll encourage you.
its $50 a day for a license to catch salmon
at that point cheaper to just pay $25 at the supermarket to get 2 thin slices of smoked salmon and eat that instead
>ate trout i caught as a lad fresh from the river ~19 years ago
i've had parasites this whole time haven't i. they've probably ruined my life
No, but I've seen someone at the salmon plant I was working at bite the head off of one. That guy was a legend. He says he was going to put his whole paycheck into bitcoin, in 2014. I hope he did.
