Wear earmuffs and earplugs at the same time and look into getting a suppressor. Guns are loud get over you fukcin bitch shotguns are not that bad your just a numbnut.
CCI .22LR quiets through a suppressor. It is like someone next to you snapping their fingers. Spread can be an issue at long ranges, but excellent for plinking.
>8am quiet Sunday morning >laying in bed reading thread >chuckle at EEEEEEEE meme >realize the deafening ring is ever present even now

I've got really slight tinnitus from my shitty manual labor jobs. I do everything I can now to avoid making it worse. Indoor range I double up, outdoor I'm putting earpro on in the car in case somebody else is shooting.
>tried to kill myself when i was 15 >took my dads rifle >.308 >couldn't do it, burst into tears >forgot i had weight on the trigger >gun fired right next to my ear >3 days to get my left hearing back >permanent tinnitus a month later

Broccoli is supposedly good for the ears and hearing. It is supposed to help lessen the tinnitus ringing, if eaten soon after being exposed to damaging db levels.
you could take magnesium, vitamin d and omega 3 as a supplement after exposure too, it apparently can help
long term supplementing those might not be a bad idea too
I'm nearly 30 and been shooting for maybe 3 years with proper ear pro, sometimes even doubled up,and my hearing definitely took a hit. No tinnitus thankfully. Wear your earpro lads or you'll be deaf!
Slight low frequency loss in left ear, I double up every time. Foamies under Leigh's with the aftermarket gel ear pieces. To some degree it doesn't matter, because your skull conducts the vibration and nothing short of a full head helmet is going to actually stop that.
I've got 3 suppressors in the works.
My hearing probably isn't the best for my age because I was a fucking dumbass when I was younger, but it's not all that bad. I figure I should just be careful to preserve it from now on.
Anyway, these are what I use. Generally you probably only need one of them if you're shooting a handgun or arguably smaller pistol calibers like that (PCCs, maybe some leverguns and carbines). Double up when shooting rifles and other larger guns, or if you have a brake on anything. Although if you're only shooting outdoors, one of them might still be ok for whatever you're doing. The sound won't reverberate off walls or anything to really fuck your ears, it'll keep going out and away from you.
It's been so long that I don't remember where I got my muffs from but they're nothing too special, you should be able to find them anywhere. The plugs I got as a small gift from my RO, said I should keep some reusable plugs since I come in as often as I do. They're way better than the foam ones, much easier to get in and out, no bullshit with squishing them and rolling them up just to not get one all the way in there in time. No idea where to get these from, forgot where I put the box they came in. I guess just go to your usual range and maybe if your RO is based he'll give you some or tell you where to find them.
Double up if you're going to an indoor range, active ears are very nice and would of the first upgrades I'd recommend to anyone serious about shooting. Allowing you to amplify normal sounds while muffling loud ones is the tits when combined with ear plugs. You pretty much end up with twice the protection while still being able to hear most things ok. Also you can hang them off your HD long gun and throw them on in 2 seconds flat if you feel the need to grab the thing at some point.
I got complacent and only wore muffs at a gas gun event. The eeeee was already there, but it's a bit more pronounced now. Newfags, listen me out and hear me good. Never get loosy goosy with your ears. Be doubled up at all times, if there's a 1% chance of a gun going off even 100 yards away, have your ears on.
I've got 85% hearing in my right ear, my left ear is basically fine though. I will sometimes have random sessions of a hard ringing in both ears, they last about 45 seconds to a minute, and peak about 15 seconds in. I'm fine otherwise. Honestly, I think it's mostly from fireworks and various dumb shit rather than firearms, as I wear earpro the vast vast majority of the time (other than some .22 rifle squirrel shooting when I was younger)
Its not enough that you people got indoctrinated into using "trigger discipline" aka reddit finger when handling your funs, now you're trying to shill reddit ear too?
This is a glowop to try to take away your freedom. There is nothing more free and liberating than experiencing the crack of a gunshot and the liberals want to take that away from you too
shooting without ear pro is like smoking cigarettes
it's self destructive, devoid of higher purpose, makes you look cooler, is the sort of thing a redditor would hate, and is to be done inside as a special occasion
I vape and use surefire plugs
>How's your hearing, PrepHole? >silencers finally allowed >me at range >dude with massive rifle >puts on silencer >want to hear how does it sound silenced >take out my ear protection >he didn't use subsonic
I think as long as you're firing rifles outside it's fine, I usually hunt without earpro and my ears are fine. I use those walker headphones with the mic at the range.
>Guns are VERY FUCKING LOUD.
Good. That means Freedom is singing.
I don’t want premature ear aging
Bc that I won’t touch shotguns
Spooky

I already use muffs and earplugs and still flinch whenever the person next to me fires a shotgun
WHAT YALL SAY NIGGUH WHAT SPEAK UP OVER HERE
shotguns are statistically the most quiet firearms out there, damaging your hearing with one is almost impossible
I've fired a shotgun with just those little foam plugs. No problems. You probably don't need any more unless you're going to get a lot of range time.
>won’t touch shotguns
Shotguns aren't as loud as rifles anon.
earplugs are more than enough for a shotgun, anon.
I was once next to a 120mm smoothbore with a loose ear plug when it fired. I still hear ringing to this day.
hearing protection whats that?
WHAT?
OKAY!
iiiiiiiiiiiihhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Surefire EP7
I've been using these since the beginning, it's been 10 years already. Still working perfectly.
>paws
!!!FURRY ALERT!!!
HIDE YOUR DOGS, HE WILL GO AFTER THEM
sordins
double up on earpro at indoor ranges with earplugs
The intrusive tinnitus is back
stupid frogposter

Your vagina is very fucking sandy

They are first but they get quieter the more you shoot.
EEEEEEeEEEEEeeeeeeeeeEeeEEeEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeEEeeEEeeEeEEeE
Cheap generic disposable earplug + walker razors slim.
Never had any issues

hearing protection is reddit
>What kind of ear protection do you use while shooting?
Used cigarette butts.
i use in ear foams and outer electronic both indoor and outdoor
unless it's something whisper quiet like sub 300 blk suppressed I'm not risking it.

Custom molded ear plugs from ProtectEar..and then I throw a set of 3m cans on as well.
Can't hear shit. Just my heartbeat, the air in my lungs, and the voices in my head.
