All my guns are suppressed, just ordered a flow 762 last week as my next one. For earpro I wear Otto electronic earbuds, which I like a lot but some people just can't stand anything in their ears. No eeeeeeeee here though.

Also don't put a metal bowl on your head and have a bro shoot at it (at least not without earpro).

No I'm not moronic enough to shoot without ear pro. Always double up indoors. Inner foams with active over the ear on top of that. As far as what earpro to use? Nothing wrong with some cheap walker slims, although I have been liking my Sordins more and Peltors are great on my helmet set up. For real though I don't get people who brag about not wearing ear pro. It's like thinking you're hot shit for staring into the sun without sunglasses on. You're just moronic

60$ walker razors from the local cabelas and disposable foamies

Massgay who can't get suppressors here so we just use blast deflectors to cope instead

Just had my hearing checked, I have normal hearing with only very minor hearing loss at one specific frequency range. My tinnitus is really minor and I only notice it occasionally if I'm sitting in dead silence. Also, I grew up on a farm around a lot of loud machinery (tractors, chainsaws, etc) so it's not just the guns.

I use safariland ear plugs with some cheap over ear protection and it’s good for shooting rifles indoors.

Just don't listen to the gunshot, its that easy. Never use ear protection in my life, and instead just sang the lyrics of Toxic by Britney Spears in my head.

I grew up in rural Alabama, I never heard about ear pro until I was in my 20s. I don't wear it, gunshots are loud by not terribly so.

When I was new to guns, I was in an outdoor shooting pit with my pistol. I wondered "what does a gunshot sound like without hearing protection?" I looked around at the front and side 9ft dirt berm that surrounded me, took off one side of my ear pro, and proceeded to flashbang myself with a single round of 45acp. The ringing lasted a few minutes and my vision cleared up after about five seconds. I don't recommend.
Fast forward ~17 years, I use Sordins.

Foamies and whatever cheap electronic set fits your head so you can hear through them.
The only thing that kills sound is mass so if they fit well it's not like there's any secret technology hidden inside the expensive ones that protects your ears better. They're all a plastic shell with some foam in it. You've got enough budget there for two goes at finding the right one for your head, unless you wear glasses and need gel pads.

My dad used to take us hunting without earpro. I've had a subtle amount of it my whole life, just enough that I only notice if I think about it. Or maybe it's because I've had it forever.

I work around airplanes and pretty much always wear foamies inserts. Unless I'm lighting a plane off, or the hazardous warning lights light up.

For shooting I have a pair of walkers active noise cancelling and I still double up with foamies. It might be overkill, but I don't frick around with hearing loss and eye protection.

  30. 11 months ago

I double up all the time, but my first can came in yesterday, so hopefully that will arrest the slight hearing loss I've started accumulating in my left ear. If you shoot a lot a can is the only way to not, eventually, get hearing damage.

yep, was always fine then I momentarily lifted my earpro at an indoor range to adjust my glasses now i've got the eee
