gun in trunk?

a couple years back someone tried to pull a gun out of their trunk on me

i know the trunk is a popular spot to keep a rifle/shotgun but i always think back to this moment. if he had kept his gun in the cab he couldve easily shot me. but instead he had to pop the trunk, run to the back, and grab the gun from inside. i was already gtfo as soon as i saw the trunk pop so he had no chance.

whats the advantage of keeping a gun in the trunk? the only things i can think of are so burglars cant get it as easily if they break into your cab, and so that police dont see it during a traffic stop. despite these two reasons it seems like it puts you at a pretty large disadvantage.

Gun to replace steering wheel, gun to replace brakes, gun to replace radio.

The real question is how much of the car can be replaced by gun and still be car

what's with nu-/k/ answering their own obvious questions and still being oblivious enough to post them?

why dont you try reading the rest of the post?

there's nothing else in the post, you asked a question and you answered it, moron. It's a big disadvantage. Why people do it is because of the reasons you already stated. Now git.

Yes, you already used your critical thinking and came to the right conclusion.

I don't have a vehicle with a trunk but if I was bringing long arms I'd keep them in there. Like you said, harder to steal from a trunk and nobody can see it. I would keep my CCW on me in the cab though.

It’s moronic unless it’s kept as a hunting/survival gun and you never plan to use defensively

The trunk is where you keep the dead hookers, not the shotgun.
The shotgun is to be held firmly by your co-driver to repel any boarding attempts by rogue bands of road pirates.

    Pic very much related

If you are hunting, you transport your guns, the trunk. At home, you can use a gun safe. I've handled multiple home invasions with just a machete. The rifle is for when I am going out to hunt and kill hogs and such. Either solo hunting or with an armed party. If you have extra rifles, you can arm multiple people. 10 or 20 or 500 rifles, ad infinitum.

Some in the backseat or a tool chest in a truck bed. I keep rifles unloaded, cleared, safety on, sometimes even disassembled, until I am ready to load and use them. Clean and well maintained as well.

With pre-loaded mags, I can get armed very quickly. But I'm not paranoid at home or worried really, I can defend my home without guns. And I live in a peaceful neighborhood now. I keep guns unloaded, locked away, hidden, for safety reasons.

    >Ohio
Long guns MUST be kept in a case or trunk and ammo/charged magazines must not be with gun. Gun must be where it cannot be accessed without getting out of the vehicle.

Picrel... I don't live in OH.

I'm pretty sure they got rid of those rules when we approved constitutional carry. Those rules previously no longer applied once you got your CHL.
