My property is overgrown with weeds and stripped vehicles but I've had issues with tresspassers and squatters before.
PrepHole wasn't very helpful but guard and service dogs for protection should be okay here. I just want to keep my family safe. I'm usually home but I can't be there 24/7

You'd be surprised how protective Goldens can be despite also being the friendliest dog.
They can be really guardish barky at strangers if that's all you need and they're amazing friends otherwise. Don't expect them to bite anyone, but they will wake you up so you can shoot the intruder yourself and the bark is usually enough to deter.
