Good cold morning from my cabin. I posted elsewhere but had no feedback. Is there anyone out there who has a spyderco delica? I want to buy a Christmas present for myself and was thinking about the delica but half serrated model. I have the endura 4 now but its a bit large. Any suggestions on anything under $100.
yeah the delica is great. serrations are moronic though, get the plain edge model.
>Under 100
>Spyderco
Ehhhh
I like my Buck 113. My Spyderco was nice but I'm over folders--harder to keep clean after tasks like gutting a dish, usually have a thinner blade than fixed blades and folders are generally more expensive. I don't remember the model but mine was serrated and it was hard to sharpen and was slowly losing the serrated edge...I feel overall serrated edges just don't last on knives used often.
I wouldn't spend >$100 on any knife in VG-10 anymore.
>Any suggestions on anything under $100
Buck 112 drop point with nickel silver frame.
I got my 113, like a year ago, for 58 USD, holy shit the price inflation is unreal...I didn't even look...the 102 is cheaper than the 113....
Wtf
A man of fine taste
>that handle and blade that look like the 99¢ keychain knives in a big candy jar on the gas sation counter
>jar of spidersco
that's like looking at the statue of liberty and saying "lol, it looks like the snowglobe they sell at the souvenir shop"
I had the black one lmao.
Didn’t we all?
No, it’s like looking at a knockoff statue made in China that looks exactly the same and everybody has one in their front yard so when somebody brings their friend to see the real Statue of Liberty, the friend is like “what’s so special about that? The gas station and 3 of my neighbors have one as well,
>slab of steel riveted between two pieces of plastic
They're literally the same thing.
Yes and the $100 spider slab of steel was designed so fricking close to the look of the 99¢ gas station knife. Fricking why? You could’ve have done literally other handle texture?
That's like saying because an eagle and a chicken both have wings they're basically the same.
They also both have the same reaction when you put them in a microwave
...I think you're a chat GPT bot
or 12
I can't imagine a grown adult being amused by something so banial
When you get back to updoot land, tell them we tought you how to spell "banal".
I have a Delica, its a quality knife and I like it a lot. It's light and sharp, but considering the materials I feel that it is over priced at $100. You are paying a premium for the name and the "Made in Japan" in my opinion. You can get a US made Kershaw Leek or Random Leek fairly often for around $55 and it uses 14c28n steel, there is also the Buck 110 TRX slim that is s30v for like $100
>Spyderco
I bought a para 2 and a Byrd (Spyderco budget line) cara cara.
What I found was I never take the para anywhere because it's expensive and I'm afraid of losing it. I take the byrd everywhere. The 8crmov or whatever is better than anything I had growing up so IDC if it's not the greatest thing.
Is the para higher quality? Unquestionably so!
Does it matter that the Byrd is kinda cheaper in fit and finish?
Not to me, but you might care. If you're not afraid of losing it, go for it, buy the delica. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, but I'd buy 2 Byrd knives for about the same money if it was me.
Also, I'd sell my para 2, but I don't wanna bother. If someone offered me what I paid for it is get rid of it on a second cause it just sits in my safe.
I told you on K to buy it if you wanted it and told you to look at the Spyderco website for their clearance stuff - which absurdly low priced for many nice models.
