Glock rifle first look

First ever outside look at the Glock brand Glock rifle (not the Glock AR15). I have been obsessively checking for new patents every week since the first one dropped in 2021. They published 6 new patents last week. I haven't seen any other autist following it like I have.

Take a look.

(Click the espacenet link to see the actual drawings and images. google hasn't imported them yet)

Again this is the first actual look of the outside of the gun in any real sense ever. I would hope with this we'd actually start to see it IRL soon at some kind of trade show or something. The last big patent was in Feb when they published the sort of 'casette' FCG like a HK or AUG.

    No gas system.
    Roller-locked or lever-delay or short-recoil?

      >no gas system

It's short stroke gas operated with an annular piston around the barrel. See the older patents from 2021/2022. It's like an AR18 with the bolt and carrier otherwise.

Good picture of the gas system.

        >sleeve piston gives lower profile
        >give it SCAR tier height over bore anyways
        what is the point?
i like novel designs, but leverage that for an advantage if you're gonna do it.

Not sure what you mean, the barrel is completely in line with the piston and carrier and bolt itself. The line of the stock is actually slightly above all of that.

I like it. I'm also looking forward to another round of media hysteria and fuddlore over "polymer weapon that CN'T be detected by metal detectors"

Oh durr. Sorry it's late anon, brain isn't working. I see what you mean. Yeah the rail on the upper is pretty high.

height over bore refers to optic rail distance from bore centerline. you're thinking of bore axis/offset, which is the height of the bore above the thumb when holding a handgun.

Agree, even with the lo-profile annular gas system, it still goes back to a chunky AR-18 sized block BCG (

Good picture of the gas system.

Pic: #28) instead of an AR-15 tubular BCG - which would be even lower without needing a top mounted gas-key

Reminds me of old combat shotguns.
That annular system was common for them.
This is definitely distinct from their recent piston-AR bids.

        >sleeve piston gives lower profile
        >give it SCAR tier height over bore anyways
        what is the point?
i like novel designs, but leverage that for an advantage if you're gonna do it.

That does seem like some missed potential.
With how the stock is set up relative to the receiver, you're still potentially going to need a riser for your optics anyhow. So it isn't like the receiver is taller to ameliorate that.

This is what is used more or less on older semi-auto shotguns, and to a lesser extent the Beretta gas-operated semis.

So what is the advantage of a sleeved piston as opposed to a regular long/short stroke piston system

Reciprocating mass more in line with the barrel (and ideally the stock)

This is Glock's desperate attempt at not going broke like the original Winchester did (twice) and the original Colt did after their heyday of government contracts ran out.

Glock has one decade left before it edges towards bankruptcy.

They can't just keep cranking out reliable Tupperware derivatives?
Like seriously everyone I know has a Glock, if you need something reliable but don't want to worry about it getting fricked up or damaged (during backwoods camping/hikes for instance) or dropped in an evidence room until the end of time, that's the go to, is it not?

Glock runs off something like a 500% profit margin with civilian sales. They're unironically not going anywhere until something massive happens that instantly destroys their company.

Wonder how the company will change when Herr Glock himself dies.

looks a hell of a lot like any random piston AR15.
I doubt it will actually make waves unless they figure out a way to make it way cheaper than the piston ARs on the market

Piston ARs are the gayest design. It not having a buffer tube automatically makes it better.

    >non AR style ambi bolt hold open / release
    >piston driven
    >Will likely be extremely reliable due to Glock's need to keep their brand image
I'm absolutely going to buy one unless it turns out to be total dogshit.
