Give me some ideas on what to do with this...

Have a giant oil well pump jack beam and bearing. Also have the base for it too. There has to be something cool I can do with a big ol' beam with a huge bearing pivot on the bottom of it. Ridiculous teeter totter? Some kind of cool shop equipment I could make with it? I drug it home because I just had to have it because why the hell not?

The base is 8' wide and 23' long. Would make a hell of a stout bridge or a guy could plate the top and have a ridiculous sized welding table... Would make a good chassis table or rigid base for straightening frames... Currently I need to cut some stuff off the top of it to get it all flush and then I am planning on just stacking other I-beams I have on it for the time being.

Farm and Ranch. I wouldn't say I have much cash and time to waste, but if I see a huge chunk of steel at a good price I will usually buy it. It is one of those assets that has saved me a shit ton of money over the years, Buy steel cheap, hoard it for a while, find perfect use for it and be glad as hell I don't have to pay new steel prices at the time I need it. Most things I instantly have an idea of what I will use them for. This one is a bit different, it'll probably sit for a while until I find the perfect application...

I'm currently in the process of re-locating and organizing a shit-load of steel away from my shop into it's own lineup on the prairie to reduce clutter and make keeping the weeds down easier. Then I will fence around the lineup of steel and another line of decrepit farm equipment (for parts) and let our few head of milk cows graze around it all summer long. This will keep the weeds down and make it much easier to maintain, plus give them some more acreage to graze so maybe I can feed them less.

Hmm... now you have me thinking about some giant seesaw style press with a huge cylinder on the one side and large open area on the other so you can fit huge stuff in there. Like a C frame press only more like how an iron worker press uses the lever action. I do have a giant hydraulic cylinder I've been kicking around too...

Not him but hoarding then using heavy steel is insanely handy. The foundation for my garage is a slab poured inside a 20' square steel beam box that only cost me wiring an old gasser Ford dump truck. No form lumber to buy and my building bolted to the beams. I also use beams beneath my three High Cube container machine/welding/motorcycle shop.

Self and bro hit auctions to buy steel for our projects too. Totally worth it. Wood is for furniture and camp fires.

I don't really want to make more money. More money = more taxes to the government I don't want to support.

Nobody in this area has oil wells. Probably 100-150 miles away is the nearest "oil field"

Maybe I should start one up. Untapped crude at my feet! But in reality there's probably a good reason why there is nobody doing it.
