This one right here. Germans can go ultra mega autistic over technical stuff, but that just increases production time and costs more. Sometimes demanding "The Very best" is not the right answer. Sometimes wanting "Good enough" is the way to go, if it still does the job and can be made faster and cheaper.
Wars are waged not only on battlefields, but also on the production base. Being able to out-produce your enemy in war material tends to win wars. And german autism just causes long production times and anal-retentive quality control. Meanwhile, some other nations can produce "good enough" stuff from the factory lines like it was fucking candy.

Wars are rarely won by pure firepower alone. Look at Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, would you call the invasions there a "success" for the US and NATO? They won many battles with absolutely overwhelming military tech, but they still lost the war. And that's just one small recent example.
