There was a dude that posted here in 2013 that was in. From what I remember, it was full of slavs and morons and they were treated like shit. Dude was cool, though. Apparently the French are incredibly hesitant to give citizenship and will try and do everything they can to not give it to you.

joining is no guarantee of citizenship, you have to also exhibit "good behavior" (the definition of "good behavior is completely arbitrary and decided by the gestapo)
I've heard they wait for you to finish your 5 years and then usually want you to sign another contract to give citizenship

it helps that my almost only interest is the military, so I'm working out to show up ready, and studying French, the ideal would be to become a corporal after 1 year so that then I have the opportunity to become seargent after another 3
alright man, power to you. if you go through with it remember that first couple months of training are a job interview to see if your are good enough for the legion. Attack every challenge they throw at you.
I will caution you however to remember. You could be an excellent candidate and they may still turn you away. It's based on the needs of the service, not on the needs of the soldier.

I'm going to selection there in a few months, my goal is to do well in basic so I can do fut fut and be promoted early, so that after 3 years as corporal I can become a sergeant, that would be the ideal path, that's why I'm waiting to go, bc I want to show up with good fitness and decent French, hope some shit kicks off while I'm there so I get some deployment
With that attitude your not getting promoted, yet alone early. Trying to excel will just get you abused by both command and your peers. Speaking French well will have you being forced to teach it to some 80iq Black person or chink amd if they frick up you are the one taking the blame.

I would recommend meeting with a current or ex legionnaire and asking them that exact question with a straight face. Do not go near the recruitment office until you have your reply.
I already talked with some but they didnt say what you're saying, just that fut fut get constantly checked on by the privates bc they got the same time in and usually the privates have already done training while fut fut has not so they dont accept their authority

if you want that join your local army/guard what ever, read up on you topic of interest and try to get some specialized training.

that's not true, you make 1400 euros in the legion, or 2000 in 2rep, you have no basic costs for living so it's all disposable income, to have a salary that nets you the same disposable income, (depends where you live ofc but I'm using France and Italy as an example) you'd need to make 2200 at a minimum, being generous, or 2600/2800, which is a very high salary that almost no one makes
