AOW. It's a gun built into some other object, same idea as a pen-gun, flashlight-gun, umbrella-gun, etc. Those are all AOWs.
That's not too far off from the real life MAC Stinger aka SSSW, which is an AOW.

fpbp. People love to act like everything they see is brand new but people have been trying imaginative novelty guns packed into fricking anything they can think of forever. All of it just gets shoved into a big catch-all. NFA is determinative, "if you match x, y, z, you're foo, if you match m, n, o you're bar, if you match nothing you're AOW".

It's not really that simple. AOW is a 3-part definition (any concealable gun, any smoothbore pistol/revolver firing shotshells, or any combination rifled/smoothbore gun with intermediate barrel lengths) with two exceptions (a pistol/revolver with rifled bore, or a shoulder-fired gun that cannot use fixed ammunition).
There's always been guns that do not fit any of the other categories, and don't fit either of the AOW exceptions, but are still not AOWs because they didn't match any of the three parts to begin with. The classic examples are semi-auto Thompsons with short barrel and no buttstock, and stockless shotgun-like firearms.

I think the confusion comes from people mixing up "firearms" which don't fit into the normal long gun or handgun definitions (i.e. the Shockwave) with AOWs. "Firearm" like the Shockwave is the generic catch-all category for things that aren't rifles, shotguns, or pistols. But the NFA classification AOW has a very specific definition.
