What gun would you carry if you were a fixer for a drug trafficking organization in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the mid to late 2000s?

I'm sorry. I know there are probably better options. Even in my brain I know that I prefer the german SIGs of that era. I'm just a hopeless aestheticist.

    >anything other than suppressed .22 LR or 9mm
Remember, you're a fixer, not a one-man kill squad. They have people for that. If you need to off someone you'll probably just use something cheap but reliable because no way is any murder weapon not getting disposed of immediately after.

Your main job is to be the eyes and ears of the organization and most off all, good judgement. You won't be doing A, B, C per se but you know when it is needed and who to call without being told.
If you DO have to do something yourself descretion is key: plant bugs, tap phones, snap pics of documents, compromise computers, etc. You should have a non-descript car for normal meetings and a non-descript white van for special work. If you need someone brought in (re: abducted) you use a throwaway car.

Anything requiring AR-15 or higher is almost assuredly not a job for the fixer.
Now granted, the fixer can and will have situations where he can call the boss or a crew and say "need some heavy hitters at ____ right now."

In the show, IIRC Mike does some rifle shooting, but I doubt the fixer is doing shootouts IRL. You can find combat people anywhere, from grunts to ex-special forces, but knowing the ins and outs of an organization (where by necessity nothing is written down), AND being trustworthy... I doubt you'd want to risk them. or even need them to have fighting experience. I'd imagine it is like more CIA field officers life: 99.9% talking, meetings, dinners, reading, observing, inspecting, reviewing, evaluating, counting, etc.

hits are usually perpetrated by normal ass gangbangers who just come to your house and shoot up your car with whatever they bought locally. Mafiosos tend to just ambush people at their favourite hangouts (not hard info to find out) and Hell's Angels had a proclivity for bombing people. It's also not as common as one would think outside of Black person gangs because it creates a lot of heat. Police are generally tolerant of organized crime as long as it doesn't hurt either random normal people or cause corporations to start complaining about property values. and in the organizations, they are businesses, killing a guy doesn't get you your money back.

The HAs were famously eliminated from Montreal for a few years after they caught a child in the blast of a carbomb. When I was a kid, some mobster got tommy gunned (literally, they caught the guy later and he had a genuine M1920 Tommy Gun or (a repro) with the drum mags) and it was resolved that they used that gun and shot him that way to make a rare point. A few years prior to that, someone was sniped through a window in some downtown office and it was the first police-recorded mob killing in a few years and everyone freaked out because that kind of movie shit just doesn't happen often. (interestingly, in the sniping it also turned out that the murder weapon was a somewhat rare rifle for the area, and reactions were basically "damn they must have been real mad to bust out the 1930s hunting rifle instead of some Ruger off a rack from wal*mart")

also you don't need Hitman 2016 type skills to stalk and kill a guy, most guys that get hit are found in their own cars or outside clubs they frequent or whatever and if you know a guy well enough to want him dead you probably know where he drinks and shops, what car he drives, where is normal job is, etc. if not outright where he lives and usually hides from other threats.

How do you know all this? Are you a fixer?
