This. Raytheon and Northrop products are just superb. Also, everyone runs on Raytheon. Basically all the radars and optics and missiles are Raytheon.

Boeing's major issues are a couple years older than 2022. Close to ten years old now. Though the root cause (GE and MDD execs and their short sighted business strategies) is even older than that.

Like 80% of the US defense industry's manufacturing and R&D could be handled by just Raytheon and Northrop.
Raytheon continues making the engines (through PW), missiles, tier 2 radars.
Northrop continues making the airframes, tier 1 radars, land systems ammunition.
Land system upgrades can just be outsourced to Rheinmetal and BAE as usual.

What’s the inside scoop on what happened to this company? Incompetent middle-management that the upper management was too disconnected to fix?

Pretty much every other defense company ranks highly in diversity though. If wokeism was really the cause, they'd be performing as badly as Boeing too.

Fabrique Nationale. They're like a slightly more autistic H&K that actually sells their nice shit to civilians. Also, they made a better Glock at the same price point (FNS, which I'd still rather have than a current gen Glock, and handily outclassed older generations contemporary to it)

They need to be broken up. They've started shipping garbage products at high cost since they were allowed to merge with each other and destroy all meaningful competition.
