We all know color depends on your area but what are your favorite types of brands?
Does it even matter?
I'm only familiar with issued gear but getting some as a civilian there's billions of options. Anyone frick with Amazon cheapies?

Solid colors or hunting patterns. You're not in a military.
Anything but 5.11, their "thinnest moat lightweight material" obviously is prone to ripping. I couldn't get them to last over a month of astonishingly light use.
looking for patterns, crye got some stuff but of course its pricy. My question is how much better quality is it and is it worth it
Do you have money to spare? If not then no, it's not worth it, considering you're only going to wear them in your house and on here.
t. moron who literally just bought a pair.
Just wear them when you go out
This. Most the population is fat enough to have been considered carnival freaks back in the day and the other half is so mentally ill they don't know what gender you are. Wearing camo doesn't even register to anyone under 50.
No I'm actually stocking up for Ukraine. So this isn't larp gear
Anon you moron, they're going to give you a Ukrainian uniform when you get there. Stop stocking up on dumb shit like high speed Crye shit, bring a good IFAK, plates, an optic, and mag pouches.
He should bring other things like tobacco and other trade goods.
A big part of why Crye et. al. stuff is so expensive is the US manufacture. You could theoretically get stuff that's equal in quality to Crye not made in the US and therefore cheaper, but most of the time that's just not how it works. Companies that are making good shit might as well make it Berry compliant. Not sure about pants but LBT has their LBX line. Same stuff but made in South America. Worth checking.
Yeah but tiger stripe and woodland are literally fashionable camos now
heh yeah imagine wanting quality or good IR performance or any of that, just buy from any chinese brand bro. Justasgood.
What's that shit on the right?
IR compliant Ghillie suit
concamo ghost hood
https://www.ghost-hood.com/home.aspx
i can still see them
didn't take long to get some seethe
>You're not in a military.
damn you're right bubba. everyone should just wear overalls and carry a 12 gauge, its all ye need
No you're literally being a moron. So you wear camo when SHTF, and you do get spotted and caught. Do you want to look like a hunter or someone up to no good? Someone that's part of a militia group they're unaware of? Someone who's part of a military? You don't want to look like any of those things, so don't wear any of the shit they wear. You don't show force unless you have force to back it up. Lone guy out there looking like a soldier or sniper is going to get his ass shot at or captured, tortured, and executed.
homie he just wants some camo pants
you do realize a good amount of people on this board are mixing in or getting squared away to get mixed in Ukraine...
Not all talk is for larping anymore gay
Ukraine is over. The time to get in was 4 months ago when they stood up the NATO trained units that are now mopping up whats left of the seperatists/Russians. No one going to Ukraine right now will see combat unless you're dumb enough to go Rusfor. You can't even volunteer as a combat troop anymore unless you're sf.
wtf is this logic? what has happened that makes the local population just murder people people because they're wearing certain clothes? if they're that jumpy they're going to shoot you if you're an all green guy with a gun in your bag too.
especially if you're not wearing regulation shit. what are you picturing here exactly, anon getting domed because he wore alpenflage and flecktarn and got mistaken for an "enemy militiaman" in fricking Ohio?
Think we are just looking for quality gear that holds up, thats it
M81 is a good hunting and larp pattern
Why are people like this?
Gatekeeping neverserved homosexual.
Go back to r/malefashionadvice if you care so much about what other people wear.
bros im not talking about pattern types or colors just BRAND TYPES
Fricking consoomers I swear.....
Anyway Kuhl makes good stuff
Ive been researching it lately and crye seems like the best bet for durability and not making you glow under ir
>crye seems like the best bet for durability
My personal experience disagrees with this
My crye shit had loose threads, and later had seams that busted, fabric that wore through too quickly under easy wear, etc
rothco miltec
I've been wearing tru spec pants for tree work for over a decade. They hold up well enough to get a few years out of them.
Had a pair of marpat desert pattern pants that I had long enough to be pretty much tan. Marines would ask about my salties.
Not bad for 44 bucks.
Duluth with local foliage spray painted on
I like helikon tex stuff, coyote/khaki is great
Propper stuff is pretty decent quality, but they also only do old cuts like BDU.
Rothco is on the cheaper side feel wise but perfectly serviceable for LARPwear. I have a set of their vintage Vietnamese tiger stripe and I unironically love them. They are super lightweight cotton that can breathe okay in 90 degree 60% humidity weather
Other than those two I just buy surp
How is Helikon for IR shit?
Only thing I can buy in Poland without robbing the bank
I bought a flecktarn hat from them. It looked camouflaged with my night cameras. I don't have NVGs tho
I'm thinking about their sofshells for autumn, any good?
I must say their best product is definitely Marpat pants, weird BDU mix but they're great
Here's your attack helicopter bro
Kryptek makes good shit for an agreeable price.
UR tactical have some good clothing options.
Plenty of camo options.
all NIR compliant.
Made in China?
Hong Kong.
I can vouch for their quality though.
bump
Go buy some over priced crye shit in multicam, made in the same sweat shop, then.
Rothco for fun, Crye for strenuous physical activity.
How stretchy are they? Are they good for hiking?
kek
OD Green/Ranger Green mixed with Coyote accessories. Generic and widely useful.
Multicamo is supposed to be the best for all around, but it's fricking ugly AF.
I get whatever brand carries the cool camo that I want to rock or use my old cammies from service if I want to look like a giant gay. Mostly, just wear what makes you look the coolest and is at least a little durable.
> Anyone frick with Amazon cheapies?
I frick with them if they have a niche pattern I want. Still searching to find one single set of AOR- Universal. That'd be sick but I spose ATACs shit will be fine for now.
Got a few pairs of Propper bdu pants. They work in the field. I try to get khaki.
>Propper
Hell yeah dude, been using their stuff innawoods for years.
I'm currently drying a pair on the line and also wearing a Tru Spec boonie/sun hat. I prefer the 100% cotton rip stop most of the time, but also have some twill for colder days.
surplus
i wear three different camo patterns daily and im not wearing any underwear
Propper makes great BDUs. I’ve worn them every day for over 10 years. Solid colors at work and camos when I’m off work. Very comfy, breathable, resilient, and only like $30 for a pair of great pants. Once the camo starts to fade after about 5 years of being consistently worn in the sun every day and being washed every week, I just cut the legs off and use them as comfy shorts. Also my wife loves the button fly for easy access.
>Also my wife
she hasn't told you yet?
yeah I bet your wife loves the "easy access" Mr DM 2.0
For me it's bongsurp. Between DPM, DDPM and MTP it's got you covered, and the quality/cheapness balance means I don't have any qualms about actually using it.
Got a pair of TruSpec in Spruce Green, they're pretty nice and I think they'd pair well with Black rattle.
I know everyone hates on 5.11 but I got 2 pair of these (different color) bad boys and done tons of outdoor shit in them and no issue at all.
Why do people hate 5.11?
Tacticool people are scared of wearing certain clothes because they will be outed as being "larpers" or something like that, 5.11 just happens to be the most popular brand that is sold in many retail outlets. Also the "grey man" meme of wearing clothes that are tactical but either gray or brown and thinking you don't stand out like a sore thumb, but realistically no one cares or they assume you're an off duty cop.
Personally, I try not to let other people influence my choice of clothes, but many people here are very self conscious.
5.11 is way overpriced for what it is: chink shit with mediocre material.
My favorites: Arktis and Vertx.
I've worn Arktis trousers and smock through plenty of brambles and backpacking, held up perfectly.
Vertx is pretty comfy and functional (I just have their original tactical pants).
Ah okay. I've been looking for some thinner cargo pants I could wear year round (being in PA we get extremes in both heat and cold) and 5.11 looked like they might have something which is why I asked, but I'm NOT paying $60+ for pants. I'll check out Arktis and Vertx, thanks anons!
Spend $89.95 (plus tax) on Chinese crap only to have them rip apart in a week if you do anything other than pose in a mirror with them. I've seriously had them develop wear holes just from walking around at a security job.
Patagonia L9 pants have the best cut
Crye pants are good if you have thiccc tree trunk thighs
Beyond L5 pants are a great durable alternative
Is tree style camo (Realtree, Mossy Oak) a meme?
Already wear some while deer hunting, but like in a SHTF scenario?
It works great when you're perfectly still against the intended background, but sucks shit the second you move even slightly or aren't in front of quite the right sort of foliage—so it's just like every other camouflage, but moreso
Most hunting camo is very specific to a certain backdrop so in a SHTF scenario, as long as you are in that specific backdropped area, then it isn't too bad. Most military camo patterns are made to be generalists, not specialists. A couple of our sniper teams like to rock realtree under their ghillies so they have decent camo while they re-veg their jackets. I think breaking up your outline is as important, if not more so, than the specific pattern you have (depending of course on the color palette)
>I think breaking up your outline is as important, if not more so, than the specific pattern you have (depending of course on the color palette)
Realistically, wearing a drab nature color like khaki or OD instead of red or blue gets you 80% of the way there; wearing a disruptive pattern is another 15%, and what particular pattern you wear—given that it's not totally inappropriate, like M81 innadesert—is so far into the asymptotic diminishing returns zone that specific camo patterns are more useful for IFF than for concealment, regardless of how good they theoretically are.
Jesus, I sound like a bot just rattling different things off. I swear I'm not a bot, I'm just fricked up.
