>Egypt will contract on the latest version, the FA-50, which is equipped with an AESA electronic search radar, manufactured and developed by the two Korean companies Samsung - Thales, France, which manufactures the Rafale fighter radar. The new radar will be used on the developed Korean F-16 fighters and may also work on F-16 Block 52 fighters. Egyptian.
>The internal fuel for the FA-50 has also been increased and additional fuel tanks have been added until its range reaches 2,400 km instead of 1,850 km, and the old General Electric F-404 engine has been replaced with the new, wonderful and powerful F-414 engine, which is the same engine as the American F-18 “Super Hornet” fighter. Which will give the fighter greater speed and ability to increase the payload of ammunition and weapons.
>This deal will be one of the most important Egyptian military industrialization deals as an important step towards manufacturing a national fighter, as it is expected that Egypt will introduce a local product in the manufacturing of at least 30% in the first phase to reach in its last phase at least 60% of the components of the fighter, as It is a fighter that cannot be underestimated in carrying out the tasks of light attack and ground support and carrying out all combat missions in the air, land and sea, and it can carry a large and different group of weapons and ammunition that is easy to integrate, and is characterized by its appropriate economic price that will facilitate its marketing to the Arab and African markets, which will enter Egypt into an era of export The fighters, in addition, will be used in the Sinai and the Western Desert and securing the borders and coasts instead of heavy fighters, whose cost per hour of flight is multiple times the cost of the Kiran hour on the Korean FA-50 fighter, and also not to depreciate the heavy first-class fighters with these light operations.
Invade israel when?
whats egypt's endgame? they buy so many shit from so many different countries with their shitty economy.
they don't like israelites, saudis, turks, sudanese, ethiopians or anyone around them
they're also going through a major modernization effort, they finally switched from AK's to the BREN-2 for airborne and police service and they're considering a licensed domestically produced ARX160 for standard issue rifle
they aint gonna do shit anything against turks and israelites. they can maybe bully their african neighbors but i doubt that too.
they're far more concerned with ethiopia damming the nile right now, honestly
Thats 100% gonna cause a war sometime soon.
qrd?
Egypt thinks it hasn't been secure in the past 20 years thanks to the Global War on Terror, Saudi Shenanigans, Israel, the Arab Spring. So they heavily spent on expanding the military.
Egyptian armed forces are for domestic control and an immense jobs program in a nation which does nothing else and makes nothing of note.
It's preparing for a conflict with Ethiopia over the dam they're building up on the nile river.
Ethiopia want to control the Nile with their dams and Israel probably want to take back Sinai Peninsula, got to be prepared.
Egypt is de facto run by the military, they like to buy themselves toys. Same deal in Algeria
Ethiopia
Also Egypt has plenty of obsolete planes (especially light attack/trainer) in need of replacing anyway. With FA-50 they could streamline training and ground support with F-16 as FA-50 shares nearly identical wienerpit layout and around 1/3 of part commonality with F-16
Egypt is essentially military dictatorship. Dictator changes when military gets unhappy. Sure they dance a bit around elections to make military dictator look like he is totally democratically elected president, just like Worst Korea did until 1980's.
dictatorships are corrupt and incompetent, more at 11
>whats egypt's endgame?
Restoration
Most Egyptians are Masri Arabs and not related to Ancient Egyptians though, (Also I'm pretty sure believing in and celebrating the ancient Egyptian gods is still punishable by death there, kek)
Non-aligned shitholes spread their orders across multiple partners in order to lower the risk one of them will bail out of support.
Egypt buys alot because it's a military dictatorship.
Egypt’s promotion of its military capabilities figures prominently in all military reports and indices. According to the global analysis firm IHS Inc., Egypt upped its spending on military imports in 2015 to $2.268 billion, making it the fourth-largest weapons importer worldwide. This figure is corroborated by a report produced by Global Security, which indicates that around 60% of Egypt’s military budget, estimated at $5.2 billion, is spent on salaries, while the rest is earmarked for arms purchases and sales parts. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) --which tracks arms transactions based on production costs rather than procurement prices-- calculated that the value of arms transfers to Egypt in 2015 reached $1.475 billion, compared to $686 in 2010. In other words, arms transfers more than doubled between Sisi’s first year in power and Hosni Mubarak’s last year in office. According to the ranking developed by Global Fire Power in 2017, Egypt is ranked as the 12th most powerful army worldwide. With the exception of Turkey, it surpassed all other Middle Eastern states in the ranking, including military powerhouses such as Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Algeria.

man i really wanna watch the entire middle east just sort itself out with no outside interference, the absolute clusterfrick of incompetence would be amazing to watch
I think it's cute. Will they use the WSO position as a Loyal Wingman drone pilot position sometime in the future?
I’m happy for our Korean allies. I’d go to Korea over ANY other Asian MIC…maybe all other MICs period if price was critical but NOT at the expense of quality. You go to China if you don’t care about quality and just want to have SOMETHING while every defense dollar is like pulling teeth from the legislature. Japan is the exclusive partners with the US MIC so they’re out. All the little dragons have basically nothing.
So what about Korea vs Turkey? Still going to Korea unless my country has too much risk of opposing the West which would result in Korea’s arm being twisted. Turkey seems more resilient to that pressure. China and Russia are there but…Russia’s MIC is joke tier now and I may still want something GOOD so China is out once again.
And greatest thing is, because Korea isn’t developing bleeding edge tech, they will get into various manufacturing arrangements with their clients.
Of course buying American is best because you product will always get new upgrades and you get lots of joint training opportunities with the US forces and if something happens you’ll get parts and service from the US MIC no matter what. But, obviously, you can forget about ever opposing the US or NATO in general.
France used to be the go-to for non-aligned countries if you want quality. But, they have a super long and super unfortunate history of SCREWING their clients when something happens. They gave the Brits all Exocet specs and even helped eliminate Exocets from the world market. They betrayed Iraq instantly, giving all the data on Kari to the US. They built up a strong relationship with the Russians which culminated in that heli carrier landing ship — which they SAVAGELY ripped off from the Russians for the sole reason of NATO / US not wanting Russia to have it. They also did that to Israel back in the 70s (?)
>Korea isn’t developing bleeding edge tech
If you don't count the hypersonic cruise missile that they're planning on launching this year.
There's only three Asian MICs of note anyway
>why Korea not France
son if you think Korea is doing all this without US/NATO support and approval, think again
Damn, Korean arms sales have been on fire lately.
last I heard they were buying M346 as part of a massive military contract with italy
M-346 is a trainer that can carry some bombs, or rockets. FA-50 is a baby F-16.
M-346FA is as much of a fighter/attacker as the FA-50 is
probably less capable, but still
first time I hear about this, anything I could read?
M-346 is based on Yak-130, which is a subsonic design from the start. In general, subsonic aircrafts lack both capability and survability to supersonic aircrafts.
T-50 was designed as a trainer but its base model was F-16, one of the most potent multi-role fighter jets in the world, thus it has inherited some of its original features. This is the reason why it weighs nearly twice as much as other subsonic trainers while being on par with full-fledges fighters like Gripen and Tejas, and needed only a minor work for its conversion into the figther version, the FA-50.
With the new 300 gallon fuel tank and rear seat tank, the ferry range of FA-50 can go up to 3700km, bringing it to be the ultimate aircraft for an air policing role.
>while being on par with full-fledges fighters like Gripen
Imagine beeing this moronic.
Yes, it is the FA-50 can carry as much as Gripen can do.
The only thing that is stopping it from doing so is the engine.
Literally differs more then 4 tonnes, and payload is not all that matters.
The Gripen is shit my man, only third world shitholes use it as cope because they can't afford real jets.
>as much
>less capable
pick
the FA-50 is longer, heavier, has more fuel capacity, half again the thrust and speed, BVR capability, and millions more investment dollars poured into its development programme. it's not a contest.
I pick both you fricking moron
they fulfill the same role
a 1993 VW Golf isn’t any less of a car than a McLaren F1 just because the latter is faster
>mother has a vegana
>prostitute has a vegana
>they fulfill the same role
if you say so
yes, in being women
they're both trainers turned attacker/fighter
that's literally it
The FA-50 is different than the T-50, it's got enhanced wings and a few changes. It is what the F-5 is to the T-38. Also, supersonic aircrafts can shoot much longer targets with AAM with far better initial speeds than that are not.
and the M-346FA is different than the M-346
moot point
...except M-346 is based on Yak-130 which is an outright trainer with only subsonic capability and ground attack capability. You see, when they're designing the FA-50, the first thing they've done is to avoid the competition with the existing models at all, so they've upscaled the aircraft into the same growth and weight as real fighters, so that it can serve as an actual fighter jet if needed rather than a makeshift light attacker role. M-346FA can be only as good as its designer had intended it for, in the FA-50's case that's F-16.
alright there's no reason going on whit this
shills gonna shill I guess
You're the moronic one for stating two jets in the same class are identical in performance without digging into specifics
If you don't get it, there's a simple way to explain why M-346FA can't match FA-50, by comparing the weight of two aircrafts.
>M-346
>Empty weight: 4,900 kg (10,803 lb)
>T-50/FA-50
>Empty weight: 6,470 kg (14,264 lb)
There's nearly a ton and a half difference in the overall weight, also the thrust to weight ratio is much higher on the FA-50.
By contrast, here's the weight of Gripen and Tejas, which both use the same F404 engine as the FA-50.
>JAS 39C/D
>Empty weight: 6,800 kg (14,991 lb)
>Tejas Mark 1
>Empty weight: 6,560 kg (14,462 lb)
As you can see, to say that M-346 is in the same class as the FA-50, is to say that a Transit is in the same category as a lorry.
>that's literally it
P-51 and F-22 are both superiority fighters but there's still some difference in performance anon
They bought the M-346 a few years back in the trainer role and apparently the Poles are not happy with it. Not with the plane itself but bad supply of spare parts and logistics from Italy, a lot of them are grounded right now because of it.
With Russian weapons proven to be utter trash Korea may get a ton of new buyers.
Jesus, the FA-50 is racking up orders all of a sudden. The upcoming Block 20 series looks like its giving the Gripen a run for its money. Maybe it's the new F-5E.
It's going to be what Mirage was decades ago. Cheap and decent enough plane for everyone who can't buy the latest western stuff.
I'm impressed. A ""combat"" aircraft that's somehow even worse than Gripen. Yeah it's the fricking F-5 all over again. God I hate it.
Think whatever way you want, but FA-50 with an AESA upgrade can pull off everything that Gripen can do with the same engine at much lower prices.
Which is half the price of a gripen, has even lower cost per flying hour than a gripen and yet could carry roughly similar payload as a gripen and can do pretty much almost anything gripen could ?
Between Raytheon Aesa radar, Sniper pods, F414 engine and option to integrate both Brimstone and NSM would make it an even viable alternative for F-16, not just Gripen. Only thing holding it back is KAI decision to not develop a single seater version (despite it being relatively low effort to do so) and potential backstabbing from Lockheed
>4000 kg is "roughly similar"
The max payload of the FA-50 is 12000lbs, but its actual structural limit is 20000lbs depending on the mission.
>6.5-5.5 tons is 4 tons
Yeah, no.
>but its actual structural limit is 20000lbs depending on the mission.
Don't compare some structural limit with actual viabale combat payload.
It's a theoratical number so, it is still valid to some extents.
>comparing Gripen E and basic FA-50
Gripen C and FA-50 share the same engine (different fadec but it's potahto potayto at this point) and thus they have roughly similar payload. If you want to bring Gripen E then you should wait until the much more capable FA-50 MRCA with bigger F414 to come out first
i'm comparing what aircraft is currently offered by the respective company, why would i compare it to an inferior version of a new model?
Then KAI's KF-21 would've wiped the floor woth Gripen E
120 million $ plane vs 40 million $ plane.
And at half the speed and range. With no internal self defense systems. Or sensors other than a tiny anemic poverty-AESA.
I guess it would be mostly alright for Nigeria. To chuck unguided rockets at Boko Haram trucks.
>And at half the speed and range.
Wot? There's only 200lbs difference in internal fuel capacity between FA-50 and Gripen. Even that can be recouped by converting the rear seat into a fuel slot.
>With no internal self defense systems.
It will be equipped with an EW suite developed by LIG, the same manufacturer of the EW suite on the KF-21.
>Or sensors other than a tiny anemic poverty-AESA.
It will be equipped with the CAAR, which will have better performance than the AN/APG-83 that the F-16 is equipped with, while having a weight of only 48 kilos.

Nigeria have JF-17
No shit, even the CEO of the KAI has pledged to sell a thousand T-50/FA-50 combined in this century, and I honestly don't think its a bluff.

What moron wrote that text on the image?
I dunno what it is but I can’t take these things seriously on a purely aesthetic standpoint. The fuselage looks to chubby and rounded, wings too small, canopy to big and bubble. It looks like a trainer.
The FA-50 is the new F-5E
Not every country needs to spend globohomosexual shekels per flight hours or bleeding edge technology
Not all countries are warmongers or beholden to the globohomosexual MIC
>buy f-16 but not allowed BVRM
>buy rafales but can't afford too many of them adn won't be delivered until 7 years later at best

what the frick are they thinking?
>are identical in performance
>these Black folk are still talking about performance when I have been talking about purpose since my first post

asiatic shills are the worst
no
>I'm too dull to understand math
>must be asiatic shill
Here's (You).
Purpose requires performance.
Performance dictates the role honey, you can't go on an air-superiority mission with an A-10. Come back when M-346FA is equipped with BVRAAM.
>Come back when M-346FA is equipped with BVRAAM.
Why even waste a good missile on a shit plane that can't fly high and fast enough to utilize its full potential?
Because unlike the M346, the Fa50 can
>fly high and fast enough
>Non-aligned shitholes spread their orders across multiple partners in order to
Put more taxpayer dollars in their buddies' pockets
More equipment types = more support contracts = more pork
Not with any stores it can't LEL.
Doesn't do any worse than F-16 in that regard
The fa-50 still fires the aim-9L it's no better to the m-346. But atleast kepd-350 integration and jdam integration makes sense.
M346FA can fire AMRAAMs but not Meteor
FA50 can fire AMRAAMs and Meteor
>M346FA can’t fire meteors
source?
>Korea is not even at war yet there's a FA-50 production line with soulless working bugs and machines at unison
Might have something to do with the capital literally being in artillery range of their insane Commie cousins

Built some boats, you capital is drowning
Egyptian here (though living in Switzerland). I despise my birth country so will be honest.
Egypt under Sisi is basically a quiet ally of Israel now. Even the "Cold Peace" days are over, nevermind being enemies. Most Egyptians on the streets hate Israel still, but not nearly as much as it would have been even 15 years ago. Most people are moving on and just want their lives better, are sick of palestinians whining and causing problems, or are concerned about Iran/terrorism. At the upper level the leadership view Israel as an ally, and Israel gives aid to Egypt both economy and military. Egypt's main problems atm are ISIS in Sinai, Iran, Libya chaos, and Hamas being a sort of parasitic growth that irritates.
The military is basically the only thing Egypt has, they have a population 10x larger than Israel but a GDP that's smaller. The national Cairo is a notorious shithole. The country is always 1 step away from total economic/social collapse.
The army establishment is very corrupt. They love medals, parades, big shiny things. They spend most of the government budget on building these massive mansions and villas for themselves and the army basically controls all aspects of the economy. It reminds me of the situation in a place like North Korea, but more cleverly hidden.
In an actual full-scale war with Israel, we would not last long despite all our purchases. The army is buying so much stuff from many places and companys without having any logistical base or skill, whereas Israel has a very streamed logistical system that all originates from the same source. Most of it couldn't be used after very long. We are also now economically dependent on Israel as well as the US and this would fall apart in a war. Outside dependency is what drives these purchases, such as with the Mistral amphibious ships. These are highly advertised but were bought with Saudi money, without the Saudi money they remain rusting in ports. Already they are barely put out to sea and don’t even have any air defense systems. They would get torn apart in a real war.
It is true Israeli ground troops seem to be mediocre conscripts, but ours are worse and would break and flee at the first sight of real fighting. Nobody gets serious training for the army, even the “elite” units are just for the cameras. Army service is all based around marching or doing phony exercises or crowd control, many times they have them farm as well because the food situation here is so bad. Israel also utterly dominates us with regards to intelligence, electronic warfare, drones, missiles, and airpower and this would cause us to fold quickly. Israel could undertake strikes on places like Aswan or agricultural hubs to cause social collapse. Like the Saudis or Emirates, our army is all for show and a giant scam to pour money into by the social elite.
The elites know this, but do not care because Israel is now a quiet ally and we lack any serious other military powers on our borders. Instead they use the economy to build stuff like this when most markets in Egypt are now mostly empty. There is no alternative either, because the Muslim Brotherhood period was even worse.
they're preparing to destroy that dam to the south of them
Mutts won't like it when worst Koreans steal $billions worth of defence deals
