So recently a man in Sanaa released a video showing Houthi troops creating wooden missiles in order to trick us airstrikes into attacking them
Now before everyone screams cope and nonsense blah blah
This is just a post showing the many dummy missiles used to confuse enemy aircraft

Decoys have been a part of war forever, not surprised they are using them too.

                >I know but I was worried people would flip out if you said the us military could be fooled by these
You posted after business hours on a saturday. Most of the super-jingoistic posters are inorganic

Actually if they're overflying Yemen with drones, have radars watching Yemen, etc they can probably discriminate between actual and decoy missiles based on a bunch of different things. People preparing the missiles physically instead of just placing them in the open, signs of cooling/heaters on the missiles, radio traffic suggesting actual launches (few of these launch sites will have wired comms so it'll be done via radio), etc.

Why do you think large strikes are several weeks apart? Like the recent one & the one by US/UK a couple weeks ago. Targets are not located by the aircraft. They are located by satellites. The aircraft just fly to the location of the target that is already in the computer. US military satellites have the capabilities to literally zoom in on any location & see whether a quarter on the ground is showing heads or tails in perfect detail. The satellites map everything out by gathering intel for weeks if not months. Yet these moronic Houthis will fire a random missile & just expose a whole new trail to follow. Satellites hit the rewind button to find where it was fired from, then just rewind even further to see where the thridies went. Then observe those locations where the thridies went & then track other individuals who went to the same location but came from a different location. Those who are coping tend to accuse others that they are about to cope. Seek help anon. Go to the gym. Read some books on investing. Find a new hobby. Maybe go find a girlfriend. Be happy. I mean this in sincerity.

                >see whether a quarter on the ground is showing heads or tails in perfect detail.
No. Current US optical satellites are limited to a few inches of detail. But otherwise yes you're correct. With the clarification that the aircraft dropping laser guided bombs and shit are double checking what they're hitting during the run.

I just like to see shit because everyone is lying about everything all the fricking time, if you can't find them that's fine but going with "you are moronic" makes it look like you are just another butthole making shit up.
I'm sure you'll say some shit about OP needing to prove his claims but he linked a video from 12 hours ago showing decoys.

I'm not politically motivated, I just live in reality and in reality the US is going to delete the Houthis but an aluminium tube looks like an aluminium tube so I has no reason to doubt the US has hit some decoys.
This doesn't matter to the US because 1 JDAM means nothing to them, this buys the Houthis a little time to maybe get off a few more missiles before they are all killed.
Why does everything have to be so fricking polarized that living in reality makes you a shill to everyone?

Interesting. This could mean that the Houthis feel threatened by the current level of US intervention. Could also be the Houthis trying to goat the US into bombing a stick for propaganda but it seems unlikely.

Could this be effective against the US? Maybe. If I were in charge of US surveillance, I would capture and compare visual and IR/UV images (which with a US budget is pretty easy to do) and use that to help aid in target vs decoy. Wood looks different than metal and stealth coatings look different than grey paint in the IR and UV spectrums. Or maybe the US doesn't do this. We can only speculate.

Posting a single picture of a dummy provides enough plausibility for a twitter victory where they claim nothing was actually hit and they are defeating the great satan, western lefties eat that shit right up.
As to actual effectiveness, we have no idea how the target selection process works until years after the op when some analysis might be made public

Imagine it was Ukraine posting that single pic and you'll immediately recognize how smart and effective this really is.

Not really. They're bottle rockets. They're not going to be high up on the list of US targets because they're not actually used to strike international shipping or US forces. These might work against the Saudis but that's not the claim of the thread.

By the way if you can't immediately tell these are piece of shit bottle rockets you don't belong on this board. Look at the fricking things.

Sure, but that Russian video of them hitting a decoy was really funny, much like them hitting those harvesters.
Also, I would say both sides of the slav war have more to benefit from dummies than Houthis do, Houthis are practically under constant surveillance they can do nothing about, so deception is a lot harder
