How would PrepHole fix this door clearance issue? I'm torn between cutting down the duct with an angle grinder or lopping off the corner triangle of the door and adding a hinge/spring.

Door would be easier. Just attach the piece you cut off to the frame.
get a sliding door

This is the way, just cut out the corner and attack it to the doorframe. I've done it before. Just remember that it's better to cut off too much, than too little, because if you end up making multiple cuts then it's gonna be real janky.
That only works if it's true stile and rail or wood. It kinda looks like an actual wood door so he may be able to cut deep enough for clearance. I'd think he would want to re-prime the cuts as well. Don't know how.much moisture accumulates in that area, but last thing he would need is swelling or delam. Alternatively that jamb looks kinda thic, so he might be able to figure out a way to move the unit further out?
Replace door with different style door.
>barn sliding door
>Pocket sliding door
>French door
>accordion door
Hinge pin stops exist
Flip the door so it opens into the hallway. Alternatively rip out the whole unit, pack down the opening with a stud, and re hang a door that's 2 inches smaller.
Smash the duct in with a hammer. Tape any holes you make.
A hinged section would be cool but if you look at the angle it's hitting at, probably wouldn't work well.
It wouldn't be getting pushed down in the right direction
Just buzz an inch off the top and bottom of the door and re-hang it and fix the trim
