It still works for residential construction. Not really for commercial jobs because they'll just want you off the jobsite ASAP before you hurt yourself and sue them

Just get a hard hat, walk onto a site and start working, they'll be so impressed by your work ethic they'll hire you on the spot

      On commercial..
Great way to get some new tools, hardware, wiring, lumber…just smoke alot and talk to everyone . Just act like you know what you’re doing

That only works if you're brown. A white guy will look suspicious and a black guy will be chased off since he'll probably steal the copper wire.

I mean what’s stopping you from giving a fake name, working until lunch and driving off with $50k worth of Hilti power tools

Then go back to your tent you pitched in front of the movie theater where they have the Oscar’s

Around here you just need to go to a bar around 5 am and just wait for the job offers to come through the door.

Is this “door” a hole in the bar’s bathroom stall by chance?

Try a staffing agency, it's how I got my carpentry job. Temp staffing agencies help you get permanent jobs if you don't have any prior connections.

You should tell that to the 2 construction crews working near me. They are 95% millennials and gen Z. One of them is building a 4 story apartment complex. The other, smaller group is rebuilding a 120 year old house.

No it’s not common anymore but that doesn’t mean it won’t work. Try it, what’s the worst that could happen?

He could end up getting gang raped by a bunch of meth heads who are only like 3 days out of prison and slapped onto a job site. There's always that...

It's only not common because millennials/zoomers don't want to work in trades.

I'm a millennial and i got my first trade job working with a friend of my dads, from there it was just randomly meeting people and i'd tell them i work in construction and they'd offer me a higher rate than the one i was currently getting

I work industrial construction. You won't even be able to get into the facility without prior contact and safety training. Generally have to know somebody.

    this actually happened once.
we were replacing the riser on a three flat and some black guy just walked onto the property into the backyard and was asking for work. it was really weird and almost felt like some guy just wanted quick cash. the owner told him to gtfo, no trespassing.
if you're going to try this you need a really good personality and to understand where you are and are not allowed to be. if you wander onto a work site asking for a job you might come across as homeless or a druggy.

Yeah you have to look like a respectable person, if you're black it won't work

One time in Florida for my buddies bachelor party I tried asking some guy repairing the road where to get woke coke. Turns out they're not happy about the stereotype. They were really offended. So we just robbed Disney world instead.
