I've just noticed that most men I've seen with long hair are drug addicts or live on welfare or just generally give me strong "glad I'm not that guy" vibes.

But it's still a silly thread to make anon. The thing about men with long hair is that generally they don't have the culture around them to teach them how to maintain it, or to make it look good.
I knew a brother and sister, both had very thick curly hair. The sister had obviously taught the brother as, in his 20s, he decided to grow it out and it went from shitty to looking really nice. It's all about practice and maintenance.
There's this whole notion out there that growing your hair out has some kind of psychic or spiritual value, that was the point. There's the story of Samson in the Bible and all that.
