When I was barely surviving off shitty Army pay I put my truck to work and grabbed any old appliance people were getting rid of for free. Fixed a ton of them and made a few hundred a month on top. Was satisfying as shit and kept my head above water. Other soldiers acted like I as a crackhead but frick them.
Kek. Psychologist. Insurance. Maybe I shoulda stayed in. The Army fricking sucked ass when it came to fitness. Ruck marches, no strength training, alcoholism. Just stay motivated.
Not that army guy, but the scheme is to damage recruits up-front in basic, in moldy barracks, every day overnight. That gives them environmentally caused asthma, which then causes hypoxia, oxygen starvation to muscles and brain, when they are run for miles every morning, immediately after waking up.
They come out dumber and more pliable, with less inhibition/control. Perfect golem to send off to die for zog. And if they don't see combat, they are still fricked.
This has been going on for 30 years. Search for moldy barracks. It's far from a cosmetic issue.
100% this. I was quoted $1k to replace a 3ft section of clogged drain line that broke a head off the motor snake. I started digging, had to replace 14ft of hard clogged drain line. Rebuild the inlet/outlet to the underground grease trap tank on my 1970s conventional septic system, then dig another 35 ft to correct and upward slope on line to the leach field. Saved myself at least 10k for a week and half of digging and pipe work. Totally sucked, stunk like hell, and wore my ass out but all that money saved made up for it.
>Get pissed about how much it cost, vow to do next one myself >Do next projects myself, no problems everything is great >Project has a problem I spend more time and money than is worth the hassle dealing with it, vow to hire pro next time > Hire a pro >Repeat
if its easy like fixing a small leak or squeak or loose thing then yea. if its my car or drywall then no.
i had more fun repairing my tv than changing a break pad on my car. god i hate cars.
>if its my car
cars are easy as shit. at least if you drive a common model. Most of the time the service manual literally just tells you everything and how to do it.
just changing the headlight was such a pain in the ass because so much other shit was crammed right up against it so you could just hardly get your hand in there.

Cars push my Irish temper to the limit. I prefer anything else DIY but my cheap potato-Black person blood forces me to DIY vehicle repairs.
not when I'm forced to.
>dryer repair
>furnace motor swap
>watertank replacement
it is satisfying though.

I always feel like I would rather someone else do it until I do it myself and it occurs to me all the money I saved.

I thought you were exaggerating.

I follow this cycle

Yes because I got tired of "experts" fricking up my stuff.
Yeah. And most of the times the thing will be better fixed than if I had called the "expert"
Yea even if the tools cost 5x as much as hiring someone.
