What I really want to see more of is go-pro mounted on your forehead showing what the actual condition of the trail is and and attractions along the way. And of course, with most of the footage sped up.
I came in here to say that I think hiking videos are boring, but I’d be interested in something like this, like a visual trail report, if it was someone doing it for trails in my state. I autistically study the satellite imagery before I go anywhere new so that sounds great for me.
A 360 camera on Timelapse would be better for this, as you can make a street view for an entire trail.
Those little Insta360 cameras are about the same price as a GoPro.
Hoist it up high on a selfie stick attached to your pack and get to hiking.
I don't look at the satellite imagery until after I've done the hike at least once. I will look at the topo trail and memorize the turns and backstops and some distance cues but I really don't like spoiling surprises.

Piggybacking off this question to ask a similar one. I’m looking to do the same with skiing, as I want to shoot some cool footage this next season. Is the 360 the way to go nowadays or does the GoPro still hold up?
You need a gimick
The guy that dresses his daughter up in dinosaur outfits and films her skiing blues will crush you.
Teach a bald cat to ski--that will git you a billion views.
I have long considered doing day hikes in my region (there are literally hundreds and hundreds within a few hours drive) than compressing the whole hike into a 7 to 12 minute video in HD.
I have to keep reminding myself that this would bring way to much attention to trails I don't want morons on so I will never do it and neither should you.
Just go on the shittier trails that already have normies on them; you can edit out the bad parts and make it look like you're somewhere special to impress your viewers.
>Trail conditions are a crapshoot
Not to the locals. I can tell you exactly which trails suck after it rains and what trails will have snow well into July and when that snow is packed enough to need snowshoes or if you can just walk on the ice on top.

If you’re using a GoPro, mount it sideways so the aspect is better for mobile

Yeah sometimes but I rarely publish them
I bought a GoPro to film some hikes, but haven't quite gotten out the door yet.
I clip it to a backwards hat and use the 'timewarp' time lapse feature
I take videos of me watching and reacting to videos of people hiking
Kyle? Is that you?
no

This, I've had the same idea and we might live in the same area.

There are no shit trails where I live.
Even the dirt roads on DNR land bordering the park are epic.
Stay based neighbor
