It's definitely extremely impressive. And anybody who understands the context knows why. It's 8 out of 10 rounds at 40 yd. While your adrenaline is pumping. At a moving target. While avoiding shooting any bystanders. No, I'm sure we wasn't being shot at and wasn't necessarily fearing for his life (though, after a couple, I'm worried the long rifle armed shooter might throw lead my direction). All within 10 seconds. This kid shot like a dream.
I’m basically trying to figure out if it was a subcompact/compact or a full-size Glock.
Effectively engaging at near maximum effective range is impressive, but I’d like to know if he did it with a subcompact (which is likely because ccw). That extra notch of difficulty would be the cherry on top lol.

There's negligible difference between the shooting characteristics of a Glock 26 and 17, or even a 34/17L if you're a decent shooter.
That he fired 10 rounds might suggest it was Glock 26, but it's just as likely it was a Glock 19 with how popular they are.
There was also a suggestion early on that he may have been carrying a 10mm, seems unlikely and was probably just the memes, but hell who knows.
At the end of the day it doesn't really matter, just pick the one that fits your hand the best and carry it consistently.

The sight radius alone makes a huge difference. The handling is very similar but a 34 sight radius makes a world of difference over a 26
Given how little I practice with pistols, I don't know if I could hit the target that far.
find a range with steel targets as far out as possible. 20y is where my local range maxed out and it is way to hit every time. paper is boring

I've got one, be advised that it'll jam on the 2nd to last round every mag if you are actually firing full power 10mm. It's a common issue. I think the gun needs a stiffer recoil spring for full power loads, and maybe a stronger mag spring as well.
It's kinda surprising S&W hasn't said anything about this yet since it's a problem everyone seems to be having. Other than that, it's an alright gun.
Good to know. I don’t conceal carry yet, but if I did I think that’s likely what I’d use.. I’m a bigger guy and I just hate trying to handle the little subcompact stuff, I really like the 1911 but for the size and safety on the m&p.. figure if I’m gonna carry anything big the larger capacity vs the 1911 and not having to worry about sweating the finish off of a 1911 makes the m&p a better choice.. rental range near me doesn’t have 10mm but does have an m&p in 45 and as I understand it that’s the same size frame, probably gonna shell out and run some rounds through that to make sure I like the feel before dropping 6-700 on a new gun.
Also I’m just not a fan of glocks, I’m sure they’re great guns but I just don’t really like the feel and look.

Just doesn’t feel right, like I have to consciously check both hands before I feel like I have a good solid grip that isn’t weird.. by contrast for some reason the 1911 frame feels real natural when I pick it up.. pretty sure it’s just personal quirks, originally thought I wouldn’t like an m&p but got to hold a few and despite the handle being a bit wider it actually felt pretty solid. Personal preference is weird.. statistically speaking someone out there probably loves the California legal style grips more than anything else….

if you read the changes to the law that the constitutional carry was added with, the no carry signs do prohibit those without a license to conceal carry from possessing a gun on the private property if they do t have permission from the owner. I only read the changes to the law so I have no idea what if any penalties or charges that implies.

My glock 43x has 10 rounds fwiw. Could be that.
Have wondered if it was a 48 or 43X. 10 rounds would be a mag dump from a standard mag for those two.
Now, I'm not an expert, but I can hit an 8 inch plate 4-5 times out of a 15 round mag with my Glock 17 (which has a red dot equipped, mind you) at ~50 yards. I feel like getting 8/10 hits on an ipsc target at 40 just wouldn't be that hard. I haven't tried those distances with my normal carry gun which is a red dot equipped p365xl, but I can't imagine it'd be that different. Next time I go to the range I'm gonna give it a shot and see if I'm mistaken, but especially with a red dot I think it'd be ezpz. I don't even consider myself that good of a shot with my pistol.

Yeah I've done that. Certainly not hitting an 8" plate while walking. And my groups with my AR looks like a crazy person's corkboard. But my understanding is that eli braced up against something. Even so I'm gonna be testing to see if my initial thoughts are right that the shooting itself wasn't anything crazy impressive (still impressive to neutralize a mass shooter with a handgun from 50y don't get me wrong, but I'd say the shooting skill itself is not the most impressive part of that).

Eli continued to engage the downed gunman as he was moving around but he wasn't able to get up nor did he make any attempt to get his weapon and reengage.
